The temperate deciduous forest has a great beauty and countless wonders that make it stand out from many other biomes. With its indifferent temperature and substantial habitats, many animals, like the crab-eating fox, are able to inhabit the environment with the use of many essential adaptations. An adaptation of the crab-eating fox is having short and unvaluable fur. Every crab-eating fox is born with this specific type of fur making this adaptation physical. Having short, unvalued fur is beneficial to the crab-eating fox, because hunters are not looking for their fur so they will not become extinct and lose population. Another adaptation of the crab-eating fox is that they hunt by scent, digging, and catching their prey. This adaptation would be behavioral, because hunting is a learned skill taught from their parents over a period of time. This technique is helpful to the crab-eating fox, because they have more than one tactic to search and catch their prey. This adaptation also means that the crab-eating fox has more than one prey, because of having many different ways to catch their victim. The crab-eating fox forms stable, monogamous pair bonds meaning both parents assist in guarding and caring for their pups. This is a behavioral adaptation, learned from experience and observing their parents. This is beneficial to the cerdocyon thous species, because the pups have a higher chance of survival and future reproduction meaning the species will not become extinct.The crab-eating fox is a nocturnal animal that hunts for prey during the night. This adaptation is behavioral from observing other members of the species and being learned from their parents. Being a nocturnal animal is beneficial to the crab-eating fox, because they are able to hunt on diurnal victims as an easy prey. All crab-eating fox have a very specific coloration of fur. Their fur can range from a pale gray to a dark brown with yellowish-brown or black pigmentations. This is a physical adaptation with every crab-eating fox being born with this specific fur. Through time the ice caps frequently collected and spread over enormous extents in North America. In this timeframe, movements to the south would occur making the ice push and relocate expansive quantities of soils and rocks. This movement effected how the great glacial streams would flow (Hay, 1992). With the extremely large rains and glacial ice melting valleys and flooding played a great role in the Pleistocene.
During the start of the 20th century, Europe was in a good place. It controlled many empires and colonies, and technology was advancing at a rapid pace after the Industrial Revolution (1840-1870). However this peace did not last; 1914 started a brutal four year war known as WWI. The immediate cause of this war is known to be the assassination of the Archduke of Austria, Franz Ferdinand, in June of 1914. However, there are many more elementary causes of this complicated war. Some of the main underlying causes of WWI was the strong militarism and imperialism felt in the European countries, and the alliances put in place to uphold these powerful militaries and colonies.
Biomes are appropriate conditions for organizing the natural world because the organisms that live in them common constellations of adaptations, particularly the climate of each of the areas and the characteristic vegetation types that develops in these divisions. It should be understood that the climate is perhaps the most important in determining classes of individuals who may live in an area and the ways they should be amended to live under different conditions of temperature and precipitation and seasonal distribution of these factors element. Every place on Earth has its own climate, influenced by both macroclimate regions as the particular microclimate. The soils are very important because they are essential to determine the types of plants that will grow into a bioclimatic zone in partical, in addition, also as substrates for animals serve. In turn, the soils are heavily influenced by regional climate, as well as the geology of the bedrock. At the same time we have to keep in mind the diversity of plants like the flora just like the diversity of the fauna as well as the adaptation of both.
Many environmental factors that affect the Daintree Lowland rainforest include fragmentation, climate change, weeds, and dead animals. Climate change can have huge impacts on the rainforest because most species of animals live in the cooler upland of the rainforest, which is a concern for both the rainforest and the organisms. This is because scientists plan to remove the animal’s habitats (where they live). Weeds in the Daintree rainforest have increased dramatically. It has effected the animal’s food, due to some or most animals having reduced food portions. Another effect would be that dead weeds create soil erosion near the upper inlands of the rainforest, which alternatively decreases the animal’s chances of survival. Dead animals such as; snakes and hawks that are within the forest are a great initiative because larger species of animals like crocodiles that live in the Cooper Creek can decompose (eat) the remains of these smaller animals, and it creates food barriers so that other species can decompose
In our experiment of field ecology at A-mountain, the purpose were to understand the specific factors that affect the distribution and abundance of plant species at north facing slope and south facing slope. The availability of plants in certain area depends on temperature, availability of water, sunlight and nutrients. A-mountain which is in Arizona has different desert plant that includes; grass, brittlebush, bursage, creosote bush, mesquite, palo verde, fishhook barrel, hedgehog, pincushion, teddy bear cholla, staghorn cholla, chain fruit cholla, prickly pear and others.. and some are specifically found on either north or south side of the mountain. The fact that the south slope receive more direct sunlight than the north facing slope, soil moisture will evaporate faster in south side of the mountain than in the north side thus the availability of different drought resisting plant whereas in north side where there is a slower evaporation due to lack of direct sunlight hence few drought resistant plants compared to south side (Wyant, unpublished data). We predicted that to the south side of the mountain there be will more diversity, evenness and drought tolerant plants species than the north side.
Plants are found everywhere on earth, up high on the ridge and down low in caves and caverns. The types of plants that live in these places depends on many factors. These factors are separated into two different categories, the biotic factors and the abiotic factors. Some of the biotic factors include, predation, competition, and habitat destruction. Plants with limited competition and large amounts of resources will be in a higher abundance than plants with limited resources and higher competition rates will be confined to areas and either out competed or will be the dominant species. The mixedwood plains ecozone extends along the Quebec City-Windsor corridor, including the densely-populated region of southern Ontario. Toronto is the most populated place in the mixedwood plains ecozone with a population of 5, 203, 600.. Montreal, Quebec, Ottawa, Hamilton, Windsor, London are also some major urban areas in this ecozone. It is also covers the least amount of ground compared to any other ecozone.
The mixed wood plain is the best Eco zone to live in. This eco zone, is spreading across the south western Ontario , parts of central and north eastern Ontario, is touching the St.Lawrence river across sourthen part of Qubec.
My biome is Temperate Rainforest, the animal I will be talking about is a grizzly bear and my plant is a tree. The Grizzly bear is the key member to the Temperate Rainforest. With the Grizzly strong jaw he/she can take down any sort of prey. Throughout the winter Grizzly bears hibernate and conserve there energy. During spring time the Grizzly bears thick claws help them swipe at fish. When new cubs are welcome to the Temperate Rainforest they have to stay with their mom for 2-3 years, only to make sure they can survive on their own. This means after the cubs turn three their parents leave them to be alone in the world. Grizzly bears are omnivores they can eat seeds, berries, roots, and deer. Male grizzly bears can grow about up to 6.5-8
West Virginia can make you wonder about different things that it might have different from any other place. The biomes has many interesting things about its self. The temperature can change for different reasons, the Precipitation is different everywhere, the plants, soil and animals are important in their own ways.

I explained to Dr. Hirsch that my primary reason for the interview was to gain insight into the role of a leader within a community college setting and what skills and talents are required to advance in the field. As a High School College Advisor in Philadelphia, I have approximately 40% of students who plan to enroll in a two-year college and I understand the challenges of this student population. Throughout graduate school, I have been drawn to the community college and feel that it could offer me a great start in the field of higher education. Therefore, meeting with Dr. Hirsch provided me with a unique opportunity to learn about the differences between leadership in a two-year college and a four-year university.
Our lab investigated the morphological characteristics of leaves found in the sun and shade on various species of maple and oak trees around campus. Our null hypothesis was Acer and Quercus acclimate similarly with regards to SLW (specific leaf weight), size, and sinuosity. Our hypothesis was Quercus acclimation is greater than Acer SLW, size, and sinuosity. We tested these hypotheses by picking small sections of a branches from both maple and oak trees. A group was assigned either a maple or an oak tree, and needed a total of three different trees per group. Once three different trees were chosen, groups needed three shade leaves and three sun leaves of off each different tree. In total, each group should then end up with 18 leaves for testing. After collecting the leaves, we ran them through the LiCor 3100 leaf area meter to identify the area of each leaf. Major results found by the classes’ mutual data was each one of our p-values were greater than .05. This means that we failed to reject the null hypothesis. Thus, the lab results do not support our hypothesis that Quercus acclimation is greater than Acer SLW, size, and sinuosity.
A biome, also known as life zones, consists of all plants, animals, and other organisms, as well the physical environment in a particular area. A biome is characterized by its’ plant life, climate, and location. The climate and physical features determine the boundaries of a biome. A biome is made up of many different ecosystems. The ecosystems tend to have the same pants and animals as neighboring biomes around the boundaries. The major biomes are the tundra, taiga, tropical rain forest, temperate forests, desert, grassland, savanna, chaparral, and marine. Each biome has it’s own characteristics such as the tundra.
