The mixed wood plain is the best Eco zone to live in. This eco zone, is spreading across the south western Ontario , parts of central and north eastern Ontario, is touching the St.Lawrence river across sourthen part of Qubec.
Physical Feature
The mixed wood eco zone is one of the smallest out of the 15 eco zones. Maximum part of this eco zone is plains. The hills in this zone were formed because of glaciers dumping. This created a fertile land mass in this eco zone. The most known fertile land is the Niagra Escrapment. This ecozone comes with fresh water resources which form 20% of worlds fresh water. 42% of this eco zones total surface area is covered with Water.
The fresh water resources include four out of five great lakes; lake Superior,
The humid continental climate allows the vast amount of coniferous trees to grow, but is certainly not limited to only coniferous trees. Ash, Birch, Aspen, Hemlock trees all grow in the Canadian Shield region, forming the massive forest that covers a majority of the Canadian Shield. (Erin James-Abra & Jamie Bastedo, 2006) This region is tough on the trees however, because of the short growing season, many of the trees are skinny. (“Welcome,Tourists”, n.d) Wildlife
The Taiga Shield Ecozone is made up of wetlands, shrublands, meadows and open forests. This Ecozone is a subarctic region therefore, the cold temperatures make it hard for vegetation to grow. There are trees, such as the coniferous species black and white spruce, tamarack, and dwarf pines. Most of them are stunted and do not reach full growth because of the climate. The tree line is at the northern edge of the Taiga Shield Ecozone and beyond the tree line is where the arctic tundra is. The soils found in this Ecozone are very thin and highly leached. The Taiga Shield has igneous, metamorphic and, sedimentary rock. These types of rocks are located in the Taiga Shield because of the volcanoes that formed it originally and the
larger vegetation zones to the way we should understand the ecology of the land scape.
When shopping for timber furniture, you probably cringe at some of the high prices on it today. If you research far enough, though, you will soon learn that there is a way to save on furniture and save the environment at the same time simply by locating a company that uses recycled timber in their furniture pieces. Our company, Wenborn Wood, is one such company. Our following facts discuss the benefits of buying furniture that contain recycled timber.
Canada is a country filled with different and diverse ecozones. Two ecozones in Ontario are the Boreal Shield and the Mixedwood Plains. The Boreal Shield covers a large portion of Canada. It has a lot of wooded areas and holds a small amount of Canada’s population. The Mixedwood Plains is Canada’s smallest ecozone. Even though it’s small, it holds much of Canada’s population. The Mixedwood Plains is a better place to live than the Boreal Shield based on its urban population, its more comfortable climate and its strong economic base.
The mixedwood plains ecozone extends along the Quebec City-Windsor corridor, including the densely-populated region of southern Ontario. Toronto is the most populated place in the mixedwood plains ecozone with a population of 5, 203, 600.. Montreal, Quebec, Ottawa, Hamilton, Windsor, London are also some major urban areas in this ecozone. It is also covers the least amount of ground compared to any other ecozone.
For my observation, I choose to visit the area of the Stanislaus National Forrest. I had wanted to see the changes over the few years from the rim fire. I headed up to the 120 towards Groveland and got as far as I could, but the road was closed. I stop for a moment to observe the area, and decided that I would take a different route to the area where I could look down below to see if I can catch anything with the Rim Fire affects.
The Texas bottomland hardwood soil is highly fertile due to the nearby water resources. These wetlands are able to control the soil erosion in order to prevent flood damage and maintain water quality. The soil is often a deep brown or brownish-red color.
The diversification of the environment contains a great number of native plant species. The Swamp holds the most extensive silver maple bottomland forests in southern Ontario, while the hackberry levee forests that occur along the riparian zone of the Nottawasaga River contain many species of Carolinian origin, that are near the northerly limit of their range. Some of these species include hackberry, black maple, blue beech and prickly ash. There are 11 provincially rare plant species in the Swamp, including three sedges, ram’s head lady slipper, spike rush, love grass, Prairie white-fringed orchid, waterleaf, Oswego tea, ginseng, and valerian (Ramsar). There is a variety of animal species in the Minesing Swamp including migratory waterfowl,
This then translates to a 50% chance of not having inventory available during job opportunities. Therefore, opportunity costs might occur. The indifference of the production managers' in these aspects of inventory control is alarming and should be acted upon.
An Ecozones is an ecological region determined by physical, biological, and human factors. Ecozones are part what makes Canada diverse. Climate and landforms affect soil, and vegetation. For example in the Prairie Ecozone the landform is flat to roiling plains, vegetation is short grass, and there are moderately cold winters
Knowledge A seed is planted in my mind which I nurture with water and the sun in the faith that it will sprout and grow.Woodlands has changed me in so many different ways. What has inspired me and encouraged me the most is probably the Guiding Principles. All of the guiding principles has helped me in a different way. From preparing me for high school to helping me communicate more the Guiding Principles has been a major part of my two years at woodlands.
This large area has a broad range of temperature and precipitation which results in nine separate biomes ranging from tropical rainforest, deciduous forest, boreal forest, tundra, temperate forest, grasslands, deserts, and chaparral woodlands. A biome is a specific area of the world that can be classified into a group according to the plants and animals that live in it. What
Biomes are all over the world, that’s why they are considered the “world’s major communities.” Biomes are large areas scattered around the earth, filled with animals and plants acclimating to their environments. You can classify biomes in many different ways, by their climate, their biodiversity, human activity, their animals and plants, and their habitats. There are only five conspicuous types of biomes, Grassland, Tundra, Desert, Aquatic, and forest. Without biomes, the earth would be unbalanced. Throughout the years, we have cause a lot of damage towards our earth, such as causing pollution, and abolishing natural habitats. If we continue living like this, there might be more serious or severe implications on the biomes. Knowing that we share the world with so many other species of plants and animals, we should consider the consequences of our actions.
A biome, also known as life zones, consists of all plants, animals, and other organisms, as well the physical environment in a particular area. A biome is characterized by its’ plant life, climate, and location. The climate and physical features determine the boundaries of a biome. A biome is made up of many different ecosystems. The ecosystems tend to have the same pants and animals as neighboring biomes around the boundaries. The major biomes are the tundra, taiga, tropical rain forest, temperate forests, desert, grassland, savanna, chaparral, and marine. Each biome has it’s own characteristics such as the tundra.
