Which of the ‘wars’? would not have happened, why? Henry VIII, who was famous for his six wives and nothing much else, was responsible for numerous wars both directly and indirectly. “In 1513, King Henry VIII of England declared war on France and invaded the country.” (Adams, 2017a) This was the first war started by Henry, and it resulted in the Battle of Flodden, when the English waved triumph over the Scots. 30 years later, Henry would go on to declare another war on France, known as the Battle of Solvent. “In 1543 Henry VIII of England declared war on France and seized Boulogne.” (Adams, 2017b) This battle was infamous for the navy fleets involved, as well as the sinking of Mary Rose, Henry’s old but prized boat. Why do you need to be a member? As a result of the Church of England, several more holidays were created. These holidays are distinct from Catholic ones due to the lack of celebration of protestant ideals or important people. Reformation Day celebrates the onset and creation of the movement. Martin Luther Day commemorates Martin Luther, a crucial figure who contributed to the reformation. However, through endless arguing, protestants were eventually able to pave the way for freedom of speech. In a similar light, protestants were also against censorship, which was a technique employed by churches at the time to maintain control.
