I chose a day of the dead project for Tibet as it was Day of the Dead because I collaborated with other students of my group to complete the assignment. It relates to the SLO because I had to communicate effectively to my group members about making decisions of the project. I overcame the obstacles in completion of this work by researching facts about day of the dead about Tibet while typing and citing sources as well as asking my group members if they could help me bring supplies to finalize the project. Then we presented to the class and our teacher graded us. If i were to redo this assignment, I would have my group to make our poster and presentation more appealing for a better
This project was quite expeditious due to the number of alternate subjects studied within the constraints of school. This made it quite difficult to complete because time limits were evident and tested. This could have had a substantial impact on the project itself, however, it did not because of skill and precision. Working individually could be beneficial in certain circumstances if one is smart, advantages might include independence and personal idea. Although, it was not easy coming up with good ideas and multi-tasking in different areas individually. In addition, working in a class group was helpful due to the amount of
The assignment I would want to talk about is The Seven Principles of the Constitution project. What my teacher wanted me to do was to pick a option which was 1-8. What I decided to do was option number 4 with a partner. Option number 4 was a power point of the seven principles. The expectation was to have a slide for each 7 principle an a extra slide. The point of this assignment is to explain each principle and write and extra paragraph of how it helps me in life. My expectation on this project is an “A” and the grade I got was an “A”.
El Día de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead, is a holiday is dominantly celebrated in Mexico on the first and second day of November. On November 1st, it is el Día de los Innnocentes, the day of the children, and also All Saints Day. During this day, young children (known as saints, angels, or innocents) that have passed away are celebrated and remembered for the short lives they lived.
I’m Isaiah Pierre-Louis and my senior project is on Red Rocks and the residential conflict happening around the park. I chose my project because, I love music. My goal in life is to become a DJ/Producer and perform amazing shows with awesome visuals. I thought to myself and came up with a great topic to base my project around and made sure I could still include strict details on Red Rocks. When I first heard about the project I thought I would just have to base it around something I wanted to do; and since Red Rocks was having complaints about volume during concert nights, the conflict just gave me broader options on what to research. Because at first, I thought the conflict was because of the damage to the rocks, I was researching the complete
For the Honors World History midterm project the class was put into groups and we were to make a poster with information about one topic from the first semester. We started with three topics and then picked which idea would be best to transfer to a poster. My group started with the three categories, people, revolutions and countries. We chose countries for our poster. Even though this project was very intimidating and stressful at first, I ended up enjoying it because we worked with other classmates which allowed for more creativity as well as a more complete poster since more people worked on it.
Halloween and Day of the Dead have many similarities and differences but I will just be talking about three of them. Mexico and Central America celebrate two different holidays in different ways. But they both share similar traditions in their communities. Even though some traditions may be different like colors, skeletons, and how we celebrate Halloween compared to how people celebrate Day of the Dead. But you will see that Day of the Dead and Halloween both share some of the same traditions.
Most Latin American countries have different celebrations that have meanings that tie back to the older days when their ancestors roamed. Modern day Latin America celebrates Dia de los Muertos, which is known as Day of the Dead. Day of the Dead is a common celebration that is mostly found in Central America, Mexico, and now is adopted into the Mexican American culture. The purpose of Day of the Dead is not to grieve over the loss of a loved one, but to commemorate the lives of the loved one, and to appreciate the return of the loved one’s spirit. According to National Geographic,” Dia de los Muertos honors the dead with festivals and lively celebrations, a typically Latin American custom that combines indigenous Aztec ritual with Catholicism, brought to the region by Spanish conquistadores.”
For “ artifact ”, project one I believe that I started off very strong and sharp with my topic. Project I was a rhetorical analysis essay, and the we had to define and write a rhetorical analysis about a historical speech that has meaning and emotion and that has impacted the society that we live in. The topic that I picked for project one was former President Barrack Obama’s Tucson memorial speech. For this project I focused on using fundamental elements of goal one, letter b. I was able to proficiently identify and explain how the speaker interacted and persuaded the audience to engage in his speech, I also was also able to show how the speaker was able to get his objective and main points across the audience that he was speaking to. I felt very comfortable writing this project because I was able to have an abundance of sources and vital information that would be able to help me in the process of writing and perfecting my essay for project one. This was my first time to write a rhetorical analysis essay, I do have to admit in the start of my essay I was confused on how properly write and structure a rhetorical analysis essay. After having the chance to attend a peer review group session, I was able to receive vital and worthy information would help properly understand how to go about writing a rhetorical
My term paper topic involves ancient Egyptian belief in the afterlife and how it affects ancient Egyptian culture. I chose The Book of the Dead, translated by Ernest Alfred Wallis Budge, as one of my primary sources. The Book of the Dead is composed of many funeral texts for a deceased person, according to the Source book of World History. The purpose of this book is to assist the decease as they pass through many challenges on their way to afterlife. For example, from the spell “The protestation of Guiltiness” the deceased person has to stand in front of the Lord of Justice, and he has to state that he did not commit any of the crime or injustices listed
One of the most famous celebrations in Spanish culture is the Day of the Dead. The Day of the Dead is an annual event that happens from the 31st of October to the 2nd of November. It is a lively, colorful, and festive celebration. Unlike the Western perspective that death is bad, Spanish culture accepts that death is a natural part of life. Mexican essayist Octavio Paz explains this unique concept in The Labyrinth of Solitude: “[The Spanish culture] is familiar with death, jokes about it, caresses it, sleeps with it, celebrates it; it is one of his favorite toys and his most steadfast love…death is not hidden away.” The Day of the Dead is how many Spanish-speakers remember and celebrate their dead loved ones’ lives and achievements. To commemorate the dead, people build and decorate altars for family member who have died, hold vigils in the cemeteries, and honor their loved ones’ legacies through parades, music, and dancing. Traditional beliefs and folklore also say that on the nights during the Day of the Dead, spirits have close contact with the living world. Because family is such a central part of Spanish culture, the Day of the Dead is also dedicated to unifying family. In fact, the presence of loved ones’ souls supposedly brings good luck to the family and helps unify them
It was the 42nd Annual Day of the Dead in which is organized by Self Help Graphics & Art. The event was hosted at Felicitas and Gonzalo Mendez High School over there in east LA. In more detail it was in Plaza Del Sol LA. According to the events wed site it is the “Most Popular Dia de Los Muertos events in los Angeles and perhaps the oldest day of the dead commemoration in the country.” It was a unique event because it not only has one date of fun it was many more activtes before the actual celebration of the day of the dead event. It was event were the Latino tradition of celebrating the dead is celebrated by not only Hispanics but white people since I saw a lot of white people. It was an event where I saw a lot of Greasers attend and just have a good time dancing oldies. It was where girls got to paint there faces and wear flowers in their head while the men would dress like pachoucos. I saw as an event in which a lot of people had the
On Saturday, November 7, I attended the Day of the Dead concert conducted by Donato Cabrera at the San Francisco Symphony. It was very festive, there were many people wearing traditional Mexican clothing, colorful skull masks and face paint. Death is often portrayed as something solemn, and it is, but this festival is also exemplifies that it can also be a time to rejoice and remember the wonderful memories of loved ones who passed away, which is why I think the festival is so unique.
Protagonists of novels should be relatable and realistic. They should be individuals with whom readers can easily identify, and consequently should be painted with as much humanity as possible. Mr. Stevens, the protagonist of Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel The Remains of the Day, is no exception. He is meant to be an incredibly human character, and consequently it makes sense that the reader should seek to define his flaws and limits, and whether or not he exhibits “spiritual imprisonment”, as Robert Stone terms it. Of course, it is necessary to identify exactly what spiritual imprisonment is. At its core, spiritual imprisonment can be defined as someone being restricted by someone or something else from pursuing what they value. The character of Stevens that Ishiguro draws in his short narrative, and the personal values that Stevens subtly exhibits, suggest that Stevens, while misguided in his values for a large portion of the book, is free to pursue those values, and consequently is not spiritually imprisoned.
In the novel The Dead, Gabriel Conroy, who is the nephew of Julia and Kate Morkan, is the main character of the story. One night he and his wife attended a party, which was given by his two aunts, and there were many other members in the party. The story revolves around their life and memories.Gabriel Conroy felt a blur between his soul and the dead. Some people died, but they are still alive because they have true love. Some people are alive, but they are still dead because they never love.I like the story for three reasons.
In our project we worked diligently and completed the assignment in good time. Some positive aspects of the assignment were the fact that me and my partner worked well together and shared the tasks equally, we would've liked to complete the writing portion of the assignment quicker so we could work on raising money for a longer period of time. In addition at the start of the assignment it seemed like a large task but once started there was less difficulty. Me and my partner Dylan worked well together as we are friends, we each did equal work which was not up to standard. Something to include next time in our group would maybe be some more creativity so we could have raised more money or an enhanced essay, we did not encounter any obstacles.
