Annotated Bibliography Cybersecurity. By: Warnes, Kathy, PhD, Salem Press Encyclopedia, January, 2017 -The position is that schools need more cyber security and that if they get more the school will be more aware of what is going on.It is making a claim that says that the schools around here need more cyber security. The evidence used is that looking at the schools and their cyber security is not good and that they need to fix it. The evidence is really good because it is the most accurate and the best. They used them to make each of the things better and great. By: Schell, Roger R. Communications of the ACM. Nov2016, Vol. 59 Issue 11, p20-23. 4p. 1 Color Photograph, 2 Diagrams. What percentage of students reported being cyber bullied in the past 30 days (average number for boys and girls)? If that percentage holds true for your schools, about how many students have been
Do you think schools should have web filters? In the last few years, kids were asked what they think of their schools having web filters. They all said different things such as schools should and should not have web filters. To be honest, I think web filters should not exist.
Schools should take action if there is harm being done to others. In Document A of” Should Schools Be Allowed to Limit Students’ Online Speech?”, they surveyed a random sample of 10-18 year-olds from a large school district in the southern US. It shows that girls are more likely to be cyberbullied. It also shows that girls are more likely to cyberbully somebody else. According to the graph, 25.1% of girls have been cyberbullied in their lifetime,
Papa (2011), indicated to combat these issues administrators must consider protective measures for both internet and technology use (p.198). Protocols for teaching students how to use the internet appropriately must be put in place (Papa, 2011, p. 198). Antivirus and protection software must also purchased to “prevent extensive damage to existing computer systems” (Papa, 2011, p.198). Regrettably, despite our best efforts to maintain network security we must still face the possibility of people or physical threats such as:
Only 15% of teachers had their productivity or teaching effectiveness affected by them being bullied. That isn’t a whole lot of teachers. A quick summary of this document is that the majority of people being cyberbullied don’t get affected by it. Hazen needs to think about how the small proportion of teachers get affected and it bothering their teaching productivity. Very small portion of teachers
Duff, White & Turner, LLC “ Schools Should Punish Students for Misuse of Networking sites” (Document D). If Schools have dealt with a number of incidents concerning improper use of internet sites should be banned. I believe school computers should be used only for homework and school purposes. The internet being an open network, which includes big Social Networking sites such as Myspace and Facebook of course students are going to pay more attention to that. Schools should restrict all those websites , although there are ways around in which students use to bypass. Schools around the United States have entered into an education code in which it authorizes to expel, suspend, or removal of school. Even though some students might say the school can't get into what they do after or outside of campus. The school can engage in taking charge of conduct resulted in disruption of the school environment. The school may lawfully discipline any student for such
warrant: It is evident in many successful schools the heavy use of the internet in school, because the internet has an enormous pool of usage. Successful schools, such as Palm Desert High School, are built upon technology which help students achieve higher standards than what textbooks alone can offer.
Document A shows that nearly twenty percent of students are cyberbullies, and more than twenty percent of students have been cyberbullied. According to Document B, cyberbullying affects one in ten teachers personally. Cyberbullying affects the privacy, confidence, productivity of teachers and students alike. It is as large a problem as actual bullying, and the quick spreading of everything posted online amplifies the effects of cyberbullying. Schools everywhere concentrate so much of their effort to combat on-campus bullying, they have no excuse to overlook cyberbullying, which affects as many people, and as at least as dangerous as actual
Kids need to watch what they post online. For example, If a student post something online about bullying school officials should be able to punish them for it. Fourteen states have passed an anti-cyberbullying law, so if the student is punished by school officials first, they are less likely to get in legal trouble. Schools should get to punish kids for misbehaving online, because it might save lives. In addition, Kids should not be misbehaving online. Kids should know what is right and what is wrong. According to Joseph Maneen, “If the students have done something worth taking the social media password, of course the school should take it.” Kids need to do what is right online, because it might ruin their reputation. Furthermore, Schools and Police officers should be able to check people's phones because it can help keep our cities safe. According to the Detective Chris Grider, “Checking phones helps to establish
“Pupils are responsible for acceptable and appropriate behavior and conduct on school district computer networks/computers.”
A young boy was once sitting on his computer when he saw an email from one of his peers. He opened the email, and soon enough realized he was being bullied. However, the young boy let the cyber-bullying get out of control. His parents told the school about it, but there was nothing they could do. The boy had to go to a new school where he wouldn’t be bullied. There are many problems like this that get out of hand, so much that the school can do nothing to help. Many people blame the school for not helping, when there is nothing they can do about it. Therefore, schools do not have the responsibility to respond to and protect students from the challenge of cyber-bullying, even if it’s off campus.
All Rockaway schools had assemblies with all the students from 4th to 8th about have now a day’s teens and kids are easily able to reach the internet and how since technology gets better each year, bullying will increase especially cyberbullying because it is online. During this assembly they talked about how technology is way better than before and how in the 2000’s there are way more social media sites that underage kids/teens can go on and not
The purpose of this policy is to outline the acceptable use of school-issued technology resources, furnished by Columbia Station High School. These rules are established to protect the students, school, the staff and administrators, and the parents associated with Columbia Station High School. Unlawful and inappropriate use exposes the school to various risks and attacks, such as Botnets, Brute Force, Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks, Browser attacks, Secure Socket Layer (SSL) attacks, backdoor attacks, and viruses [http://www.calyptix.com/top-threats/top-7-network-attack-types-in-2015-so-far/]
Most nations today fear terror attacks that include bombing use of reinforcements like machines guns and other firearms. This is because terror attacks most of the times leave many people dead and others disabled while others are left without families. However, there is another attack today in many nations that can be destructive like a terror attack and this is the cyber-attack and threats. Cyber-attacks can be responsible for large mass destructions by making all systems connected to cyber networks fail to work (Rhodes 20). An example is the Morris worm that affected the world cyber infrastructures and caused them to slow down to a position of being impractical. Therefore, as a result of these cyber-attacks resources are being established and designed to help counter the attacks.
