For the purpose of this assignment, my group embers and I decided upon researching the pseudoscience of crystal healing. The idea, or practice of using crystals to better one’s life and wellbeing is not a necessarily new type of alternative medicine. In fact, instances of this practice have been found in many ancient civilizations throughout the world including places such as Greece and Egypt. In these ancient civilizations, crystals were highly popular for protective and healing purposes. And while we as a species have continued to make advances in scientifically proven medical methods of healing, many supporters of crystal healing still favor these methods over modern medicine. They have even attributed crystals in healing diseases as extreme as cancer as well as behavioral and neurological disorders like anxiety and depression. In fact, because there is not much, or any, scientific backing for crystal healing, I …show more content…
In fact, I discovered that one group in particular has been conducting and publishing experiments since 1996 involving the physical, spiritual, and emotional effects that crystals have (Finkelman). Along with this group many other experiments have been conducted at the collegiate level. Although I could not find any convincing evidence throughout my research, I am positive that if anything were to be found, the supporters of crystal healing would be sure to make it known to the world. After doing my individual research, I cannot say that I believe in the method of crystal healing. No scientific evidence has been found, and even the supporters of crystal healing acknowledge that fact. However, they do not believe that that is a solid reason to not believe in crystal healing. So, until I take the supporters advice and just try it for myself, I will continue to be among the many skeptics of crystal

The crystals were made out of sugar and water. When the strings were put into the solution of sugar water, one string was coated with sugar, while one string was not. The strings were weighed down using a small screw of the same size and type. The strings were observed for six days. It was noticed that they started off looking a little different. The string which had sugar started showing crystals growing on the string. While, the string that was not coated with sugar showed no signs of crystals on the string, but it did show some crystals growing on the top of the sugar water solution.
Rutilated quartz, is a sort of quartz with needlelike rutile implanted in it. The rutile needles can be ruddy, which is the thing that rutile implies in Latin, or they might be brilliant, gleaming, or on extremely uncommon events, greenish.
Hippocrates, a physician of Greece believed in scientific reasoning and the power of natural healing his belief continued until the 19th century (2300 years). During the second century Galan, another Greek physician was the first to promote the key to healing and soon every health problem were fit into a classification (as it is today). His ways were strict and only doctors had access to the healing knowledge. During the dark ages natural healing was embraced once more. The Arabs brought alchemy and pharmacy into Western medicine. They introduced new ointments elixirs, pills, suppositories, carcinogenics, and inhalations to the masses in the 12th century herbal pharmacies were common in every neighborhood. In the 16th century Paracelsus taught that alchemy and chemistry were a way to unlock the secrets of nature. Both the alchemist of his day, and the chemists of our day, adhere to the beliefs
Quartz is the most abundant single mineral on earth. It makes up about 12% of the earth's crust, occurring in a wide variety of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks.Quartz varieties are commonly separated into two groups based on the size of the individual grains or crystals. Macrocrystalline quartz in which individual crystals are distinguishable with the naked eye, and cryptocrystalline quartz in which the individual crystals are too small to be easily distinguishable under the light microscope. Some of the verities of the Macrocrystalline quartz are
Just as powerful as they are beautiful, crystals are a natural way to add vitality to our everyday lives. When used properly, and with intention, crystals can truly be the cure for anything, much like the aforementioned saltwater.
In the poem “Harlem”, Langston Hughes uses literary devices to portray the African-American community as oppressed, however, strong-willed people, with the intention to warn those in power of a revolution. First of all, the African-American community is depicted to be oppressed as Hughes uses similes throughout the poem. Namely, when their dreams are compared to something “sag[ging] like a heavy load”; the line represents how an unpursued desire can emotionally feel like it is weighing you down. Especially when it is against one’s power whether or not they may follow their own ambitions due to racial injustice. On the other hand, Langston uses a metaphor to illustrate how the people of colour may also be strong-willed. The poem ends by asking
In order to heal a fractured, sprained or dislocated bone, the natives would form a padding of wet clay or rawhide to form a cast around the injury. This restricted movement, thus allowing the bone to heal properly. In another method, used by the Ojibwas, they washed the fractured arm with warm water, then greased it, applied a warm poultice of wild ginger and spikenard to ease the pain, covered it with cloth, and bound the arm with cedar splints (Vogel 215). This procedure resulted in a sling that allowed the broken bone to heal correctly. When someone broke a bone, it was crucial that the bone be able to heal properly as the injured person was needed to return to work as quickly as possible. Some Native Americans often used specific drugs to suppress ovulation and control the menstrual cycle (Vogel 5). This drug's success started researchers on the road that led to the pill, a common form of birth control today. This demonstrates that many of the needs of the people of the past are similar to the needs of the people today. In 1536, an Indian chief, Domagaia, treated an abundant disease, scurvy, by boiling the leaves and bark of a 'magical tree' and then placing the dregs upon the legs of the people that had been exposed (Morsette 5).
I have the problem at my job. I have department managers that follow individual approach.* Which generally means they look out for their self interest or their friends. Don’t get me wrong I understand wanting to help friends or family but not at cost of some else job or self respect. While my salary manager are pretty much utilitarian in nature. They think the greater good comes from controlling cost and making a profit.* This why nothing ever gets done.

The idea of energetic healing has to do with your resonance. Each person has his or her own perfect vibration. You tend to harmonize your frequency to match those around you (for good or bad.) When you match your frequency of something different from you, but that has a positive vibration,
Crystals have been used to restore balance and cure ailments since the times of ancient Egypt. The belief is that negative energy is released and cleared through their use. By ridding ourselves of negative energies we assist our bodies in healing. In addition to records showing the use of crystals in ancient Egypt, records also date back 5,000 years showing their use in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine practices as well.
