Creative Writing Symbolism

Symbolism can strengthen a story. A further thinking is created when symbolism is introduced. Symbolism is not always created by the writer but often by the reader. There are an infinite amount of connections and symbolisms that can be found in a story. Mysteries, a genre I enjoy, often have many details and clues that can be found throughout the story to figure out the mystery or crack the code. When the idea of symbolisms are added it helps the reader focus more carefully on each line and pick up on smaller details. Sometimes the writer will explain these symbolisms that helped Sherlock find the killer. Sometimes the meaning of the symbolism is to foreshadow. And sometimes it is the reader looking further into the story than the writer ever had. I approach writer’s block by either quitting immediately or going with the first thing that comes up in my mind and try to run with it. The latter usually ends up horribly and I have to rewrite the entire thing and usually just serves as stalling time. If I give up, I usually give up anything academic for at least half an hour and try again. Usually during the half hour of down time I have come up with at least one idea the something I could develop into a story and if it is not, I quit again. This especially happened during the creative writing story I had to write this year. I never came up with an idea (I mean an idea that I thought wasn’t completely awful) until I had to come up with an idea. Only then do I start writing and
