"I’ve got something for the girls of Savannah, and all America, and all the world, and we’re going to start it tonight" (Juliette). This was how the unexpected founder, Juliette Low started the girl scouts. Juliette was born Juliette Gordon Low on October 31, 1860 in Savannah, Georgia. She was the second of six children and never had any children of her own however, she had no problem working with children and helping them. She was deaf in both ears and had several other misfortunes in her life, however, instead of feeling guilt-ridden for herself, she went and created one of the leading scouts in the world today (Juliette). By opening up new opportunities for young girls, Juliette Low interchanged the values of her time and the way people …show more content…
With the events that occurred in Juliette's life you would not of expected her to do something that is considered incredible. “Born to an affluent Southern family who called their adored but occasionally off-beat second daughter ‘Crazy Daisy’ – was an unlikely founding figure for the Scouts. She never had children of her own. Her marriage to a wealthy Englishman failed in an era when divorce was still a serious stigma. Also, she suffered for most of her adult life from a hearing disability first brought on by a medical mistake” (Kehe). Low has had a bunch of horrible events in her life that should of discouraged her from doing anything but, instead she decided to go and do something more with her life and create girl scouts. She is encouraging girls that you don't have to let the misfortunes in life be a prevention from doing something great and to not let them be a shackle from desired dreams. Girls now have proof that they can truly do what they choose. Crazy Daisy has given girls the grant of confidence and girls now know not to let anything hold them back. “The great gift of Girl Scouts to girls and women has been to teach us that we really can do anything we can dream about doing. For me it was to learn sign language and to learn how to communicate with the deaf. Because I thought, ‘Wow, how cool is that? If I learned Sign language I could communicate with Juliette Low or with people who had a similar disability.’ That was the first thing that, when I was 6 or 7, she inspired me to do” (Cordery qtd. in Kehe). Low wanted to teach girls that they could truly do anything that they sat their minds too and now that's what they do. Through her girl scouts she has shown girls that there is no limitation to what they can accomplish. Cordery may have never taken up

From the beginning, Crazy Bull hoped to focus on incorporating school and community life stating, “As president of Northwest Indian College, I believe my responsibility is to ensure that there is a strong link between the college experiences of

Our newest missionaryJulie Burnette Halecki is our daughter. We had been praying for many years that God would send missionaries to train under us and "take up the mantle" but we never thought it would be our daughter Julie. She had been enjoying a successful career, a new house and a job she loved... Little did we realize that God was calling her to
Was Jane long really the mother of Texas?I think not . It all started on july 23 1798 , when Jane Herbert wilkinson was born. When Jane was born the doctors thought that she was dead and then proceeded to shoved her in a night stand drawer while they saved her mother's life. When the doctors opened the nightstand drawer they discovered Jane Herbert Wilkinson alive and well. Jane was the tenth child in her family.Sadly,Jane’s father died when jane was only one years old .Jane later became an orphan at the age of fourteen. After jane's mom died she moved in with her aunt .Jane’s family was very wealthy, so wealthy that Jane got her own slave named Kian , they were really good friends and when Jane was sixteen she was on her way to school and Kian told her about a very handsome man that was a doctor and persuaded her to skip school and meet him ,she then proceeded to introduced her to James long ,her future husband. Jane later got married to James long in may of 1815 and had her first child when she was only eighteen years old .In September of 1821 jane was expecting her second child and stayed behind at a post while james, her husband left ,she vowed to not leave till he returned but , he never did. She had her child in a very harsh winter,on the Bolivar peninsula in december of 1821. Jane and her slave,Kian fought starvation for over two weeks. She claimed to be the first english-speaking woman to give birth in Texas but, we know now that she wasn't.Soon after she found out that she was a widow in 1822 at the age of twenty four .

Finally, she had people who understood her and were willing to listen to her. She had people who believed in her, stood by her when she had her baby. The girls were not perfect, she had some not so good moments with them but even in their imperfections, they were people she could relate with. Being able to read her story to them, and hear their story, gave her a sense of belonging. When Ms Rain asked her how she feels participating in class she said “I feel here”. This is an indication of a sense of belonging.
Victoria Woodhull fought for everything she believed in, and died thinking she got nothing out of it. When she died in 1927, many people didn’t like her or didn’t agree with what she was fighting for. They didn’t think a female could be strong enough to accomplish what she was doing. Woodhull was born, on September 23 of 1838 into a family with an illiterate mother and a criminal father; thus giving her almost no formal education. Her, being the eldest of her siblings, got a job in fortune telling at a young age to support her family. For a while she was seen as a nobody and even thought about herself as one too.

Introduction: Recidivism or, habitual relapses into crime, has time and time again proven to be an issue among delinquents, which thereby increases the overall juvenile prison population. This issue has become more prevalent than what we realize. Unless a unit for measuring a juvenile’s risk of recidivism is enacted and used to determine a system to promote effective prevention, than the juvenile prison population will continue to increase. Our court system should not only focus on punishing the said juvenile but also enforce a program or policy that will allow for prevention of recidivism. So the question remains, how can recidivism in the juvenile prison population be prevented so that it is no longer the central cause for increased
As an eighth grader in the United States of America, I have grown up with an African American president for more than half of my life, and, therefore, the most diverse administration in U.S history. As an eighth grader in New York City, I have grown up in an environment where almost 70% is composed of people of color, making this city amongst the ten most racially diverse in the world. Correspondingly, the world in my eyes is far more different than that represented in To Kill a Mockingbird. In over 80 years of American history (1930s-2017) we have faced immense racial and social progress; The Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlawed public segregation and employment discrimination and four laws have since been added to prevent discrimination. In the text, this improvement was not present. During the trial, white people sat on the first floor and black people sat on the balcony; Jem and Scout are brought to an all-colored church
The African Civilization posses several concepts that are misinterpreted by other people. The book, “Things Fall Apart” by China Achebe defines the African civilization, the culture, and the impact of their colony. At the start of the book, the character Okonkwo is introduced. He is a strong man who possesses wealth in the Umuofia clan. Okonkwo is afraid of weakness because it resembles women and creates a memory of his father.
