Cosmetologist Career Goals

​Every since I was a child I have had a passion for doing other people’s hair. When I was little I would use my baby dolls as clients and work on their hair until it was perfect and neat. I have chosen to be in the cosmetology field because I like to help other people with their needs and wants as well as mine. I am aware that while working in this industry I will work with many different ethnic groups and many different hair types. I feel I can do anything as long as I have the determination to do so. Many people go to cosmetology school to work for someone else, but I would like to open up a mini-salon out of my own home someday.

Throughout my life, I’ve wanted to be many things. An astronaut, a princess, a doctor, a lawyer, and at one point in my life the president. Now that I am older and much more mature. I still haven’t decided what I wanted to be. When I first started my high school career, I was terrified. I didn’t know what I wanted to be. So I decided to try new things. I’ve been with choir ever since I was in the sixth grade, so I thought I would give it shot, and try something new. I started to take drama and art. I soon found out, that I wasn’t great at either of those things. I had stage fright and I sucked at drawing. But, I didn’t give up. I stayed with choir, drama, art, and basketball. In life, choosing is never easy. Choosing what to wear, eat, where to go, and how to live. Choosing what you want to do for the rest of your life, is as easy as walking to the moon and back. There is no brochure that gives you a sure set of bullet points as to what you would like to do, instead, we are meant to simply discover what we would enjoy doing most. There are over a million different careers, yet I’ve chosen a profession in Dental Hygiene. Believe it or not, my first words were not in fact, “I want to become a dental hygienist”.

“You haven't done so well with passing classes and that’s an issue, you have a decision to make, you can either stay at lakewood and not graduate on time, or you can move to an alternative school to make up the credits you need.” The words that no high school student want to hear. As a high school student, school was not my best interest. Yes, i can say that i was interested and determined to get done with my high school year and go to college and continue to persuade my dream in either becoming a cosmetologist or become in the culinary fields, but that didn’t go as planned. Although I cannot say that I have always known what I wanted to do with my life, I have always had a love and passion for hair, nails, makeup, and really anything to do with beauty. Between four sisters, friends, slumber parties, and formals, I have found my love for beauty and have obtained a large amount of practice. As a result of my experiences, my desire for cosmetology has brought me to Paul Mitchell the school. I have decided to attend Paul Mitchell because this school can help further my future education in cosmetology. I am confident that it is the perfect place for me, it will help me achieve my future goals and dreams, and I believe that I am a good student for this school.

Many people like to do hands on things, for example a nail technician. When you like to work with people and able to make them feel better about themselves. Many people can walk into your store feeling down, well you as the nail technician can change that if they like the way you did the job and then also like it. At the end you are going to make your customer satisfied and you are going to also feel satisfied knowing that you did your job the best you could. Nail technician need much education to learn about the care of nails.

The strong smell in the air. The sound of a air filter. The wild and calm colors of nail polish you see on the tables and shelves. The feeling of helping a girl feel like she’s a queen. The passion to do good and help a girl get stuff off of her shoulder and give advice. These are the reasons I choose to be a Nail Technician. Currently I am a senior in high school, in the Nail-Tech program. Through this program, that I found my love for doing nails and helping people. Being a Nail Technician suits my ESFP personality, such as love being around people, being a practical worker and being easy to communicate with.

Cosmetology has always been an interest to me. I have been very passionate to all things relating to beauty. It fascinates me the many things that you can do with just a few tools. One of Cosmetologist goals are to make people feel confidante and happy with themselves. I love helping people and this field lets me do that while focusing on something I love to do.

Cosmetology is intended as an instructional guide for both a science teacher and a beauty shop teacher in teaching the scientific aspects of cosmetics. I find them fun because I can see myself spending hours and hours focusing on that specific thing. With my science interested I can become a Veterinarian and that is one of the careers I am looking into. But also cosmetology is a career path and/or hobby that I want to give a chance. I enjoy working with groups and collaborating with my classmates because I’ve always believed that getting help and guidance from each other is the best thing while working with others.

I chose a Veterinarian as my career to investigate because I wanted to know more about the career I’m going to school for. I really wanted to see what it’s like to be a veterinarian and how they think of their job. I really wanted to know if the job was worth it, and if they are happy/ satisfied with their decision to become a veterinarian.I interviewed my sister’s husband Rome. He was a veterinarian and is now a hairstylist. He didn’t like being a veterinarian so he went with his second choice; a hair stylist. I mean he did love being with the animals and meeting new friends, but he really wanted to be a hairstylist. He worked at a veterinary hospital, he helped, diagnosed, and did surgery on animals.

There is a wealth of opportunities for students interested in cosmetology, and specifically those interested in hair. There are career opportunities for people interested in the science, the health, and the aesthetics of human hair. Of the many career opportunities available, the three of focus for this paper will be a hair stylist in the film and/or fashion industry; a cosmetic scientist that specializes in hair; and the executive producer of an international hair show.

When I turned 38-years-old I wanted to make a change in my life. I was tired of working jobs that had me living from paycheck to paycheck. The only option I saw was to return to school to get some sort of formal training. I did not want to spend years in college, so I decided to go to a trade school. After some research, I became intrigued with the field of cosmetology. I liked the possibility of someday going into business for myself. I went for an orientation at a local beauty school, and I was sold on being able to complete the program in a year. I was overjoyed thinking that I would be soon be putting all those dead end jobs behind me. I thought becoming a cosmetologist would be life changing, and it would be, but not the way I envisioned.

Hairstylist is a job that will never have a dull moment. You learn something new every day. This is a career I would enjoy doing every day. You get to meet so many new people and help them with so many different things. Even though the money isn’t good, if you love the job, it’s a job for
