In the Consensus Paradigm, the are many who are in agreement that marijuana which is used for medical purposes. I also believe that medical marijuana should be legalized because it is a product that helps thousands each year. Research has shown that marijuana oil has helped young children control their seizures. This oil comes from the flowering tops of the plant called hemp and dried leaves, this chemical (THC) in the plant alters the mind (Mikos, 2009). Many agree medical marijuana prescribed by a doctor helps calm people with ailments. There are currently 29 states that have legalized medical marijuana. The stem cells can now be obtained by a new procedure other than the use of embryonic stem cells such as using the cord blood or the use …show more content…
Others dismiss medical marijuana stating that it is a hoax that is based on false claims (Abrams, 1998). The legislation that passes the laws are mostly against the legalization of medical marijuana. There has been a huge debate by scientist, some religious groups, and politicians about the ethics of using embryonic stem cells. Each of these groups can not agree with one another about the about the ethical dilemma of embryonic stem cell research. There are still a lot of hate groups that oppose the passage of the new legislation, white supremacists, KKK, and countless other groups that target minorities (Meyer, 2014). African Americans were getting turned away because of the color of their skin, and The United States Supreme Court found that racial segregation in public schools is a violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the fourteen amendment (Stallion, 2013). There should be a diverse board held in the universities to see who is qualified to received Scholarships regardless of race. Racial profiling is not a myth it is real, and there are police officers who do it constantly (Horrace, & Rohlin, 2016). It is the police departments policy to ensure that this type of behavior is not going on which the police department could become liable to a

In Amy tan’s short story called Two Kinds, there are many examples of conflict. These include; Chinese versus American culture, a parent’s wishes versus her child’s wants, and the pursuit of material success versus contentment. However, this essay will only address the conflict between the story’s mother and her daughter’s personalities. Theirs is a struggle with old-world pride against new age independence.name the characters. But the author takes pains to show their good qualities as well, so the story redeems these two characters in the end.
Medical marijuana has been one of the most controversial topics in politics for years regardings its legalization and any possible benefits. Marijuana is commonly referred to as the “gateway drug” and has been thought to be what causes the downfall of our youth in today’s society. This has caused Marijuana to earn a bad reputation due to the immense surrounding propaganda and bias opinions. Cannabis is the scientific name of the plant which is absolutely natural and free of chemicals, but the psychoactive components in the plant has been proven to be of medical use. If medical marijuana is prescribed correctly it has the potential to help thousands of patients due to the variety of benefits it can medically provide. Medical Marijuana should
Medical marijuana, also known as cannabis, is a controversial topic because many find it beneficial as others find the usage to be recreational. Throughout the years, medical marijuana has gone through periods of times in which it was legal and illegal. Over the years laws have been developed in order to try and regulate the usage of the drug. Studies have shown many the benefits of treating diseases and symptoms. Today it is used in treatment with many different diseases and disorders such as cancer, post-traumatic stress disorder, and multiple sclerosis. As medical marijuana has different species and uses of the product, it is important to depict where the drug can be used for treatment. The usage of this drug enables patients to have a more positive and livable outcome with treatments.
Marijuana should be a medicinal option because it relieves major chronic pain to many symptoms. According to the Herald Editorial board, Marijuana shows a great impact on pain, “from a widespread number of causes, including cancer, spinal cord injury and disease, severe spasms, post-traumatic stress disorder, nausea, glaucoma, Parkinson’s and other debilitating ailments.” This drug is useful, as patients at times cannot use certain drug due to allergies or other complications. Marijuana helps elevated those who suffer severe pain that other drugs cannot, but doctors still prescribe stronger and more addictive opiates that are legal. If marijuana was a legal drug for the purpose of medication, marijuana can potentially save lives. Marijuana should be prescribed as there are fewer side effects compared to the drugs prescribed by doctors. Why would the government not allow doctors to prescribe patients with extreme health issues that can potentially help elevate their pain. There are individuals who suffer from epilepsy, epilepsy is a condition that causes nerve cell activity to disturb the brain. At times individuals can have up to 10 seizures a day, at any given moment. Having 10 seizures a day at random times makes it difficult for them to go on with their day, but marijuana can decrease the amount seizures into one day. It’s remarkable on how marijuana can reduce the amount of seizures an epileptic person has. Marijuana needs to be an option for medical purposes for the amount of benefits it provides.
After reading the four most popular theoretical perspectives, I believe that the conflict theory most describes the society we have today. I like the point of the conflict theory about having limited resources and everyone fighting for the top, and once you are at the topic you force social order on the classes below you.
Labeling theory is concerned less with that causes the onset of an initial delinquent act and more with the effect that official handling by police, courts, and correctional agencies has on the future of youths who fall into the court system. Labeling theory states that youths violate the law for a number of reasons; these reasons are poor family relationships, neighborhood conflict, peer pressure, psychological and biological abnormality and delinquent learning experiences.
According to the “DEA/ Drug Scheduling” (n.d.) marijuana, is classified as a Schedule I drug, which means that the “substance, or chemicals, is defined as drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse”. In the United States marijuana happens to be one of the largest discussed and controversial topics today. The journal article “Pots for Tots: Children and Medical Marijuana”, goes into detail about various children who have befitted from the use of medical marijuana in the treatment of epilepsy and the controversy surrounding it. There are several that question the legality of the treatment, the problem is, very little research shows that alternative medicine can be safe and effective, in order it to be able to use for these purposes. Beaning that is the case, it is extremely challenging to gain federal approval for scientific study. Also in this article it discusses the unintentional exposer children can have, and the advocacy for the use of the drug for medicinal
This paper will talk about what The Conflict Theory is, and who it was derived from. It will also give, and explain an example of what The Conflict Theory pertains to in modern society.
“Harry Anslinger, the first Federal Bureau of Narcotics commissioner, claimed that marijuana could lead to insanity if it was used enough. Anslinger had no scientific data to back up his claims, but his propaganda convinced the majority of the public to side with him”. In the article “Why Is Alcohol Legal But Not Marijuana?” It talks about how alcohol was causing worse symptoms and scientifically proven to lead to cancer, yet it was still made legal. Because it was to hard to keep out of the country. Cannabis is the same but today's government now believes
Conflict is defined as the perception of incompatible goals or actions between two people (McCornack, 2013). How you approach these tense situations greatly affects the outcome of the conflict and your interpersonal relationships. Everyone experiences disagreement at some point in their lives and it is important to know what you bring to conflict situations in order to become a more competent communicator. Therefore, I completed the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Questionnaire and asked my sister and boyfriend to do the same regarding my conflict style (Introduction to Interpersonal Communication Course Workbook, 2013, p.29-31). I chose these two people to fill out the questionnaire because they both know me very well in two different types
Conflict is defined as the behaviour due to which people differ in their feelings, thought and/or actions. Collins (1995) states that the conflict is a ‘serious disagreement and argument about something important’ and also as ‘a serious difference between two or more beliefs, ideas or interests’ (cf. Kumaraswamy, 1997, p. 96). In general it is believed that conflicts are the underlying cause of disputes. In other words, dispute is a manifestation of the deep rooted conflict. A dispute is defined as ‘a class or kind of conflict, which manifests itself in distinct, justifiable issues. It involves disagreement over issues capable of resolution by negotiation, mediation or third party adjudication’
Effective managers are successful within the workgroup and organization when a style is used to resolve a conflict. People do experience conflict in their lives. There has always been a lot of interest in how to manage conflict once it appears in the open, and that is important. What is not so common is a concern for preventing unnecessary conflict, so it does not start in the first place. Managers are capable of using all five resolutions skills to deal with conflict in the workplace.
A common source of conflict in India is the lack of a Uniform Civil Code. This argument stems from the discrimination Indian women face under religious personal laws. A Uniform Civil Code replaces patriarchal personal laws with a common set of laws that would govern each citizen and cover matters relating to marriage, divorce, inheritance, adoption and maintenance. While India is a democracy, Indian leaders recognize that there are several religious groups living within their borders so they strive to be a pluralist country, a country where there is more than just one center of power, which in India 's case are Muslims, Hindus, and Christians. While this approach looks good in theory, it leaves critical matters such as marriage, dowry, and property rights solely in the hands of religious leaders. This approach allows for the subjectivity of religion to be exploited and removes the checks and balances system that many countries thrive on. The discriminatory nature of these laws is a direct antithesis to the equality that the Constitution grants all of its citizens. While religious leaders argue that changing these laws is an assault on the rights provided to them, it 's also critical to note that they directly assault the laws granted to Indian women. While Articles 25 through 30 of the Indian Constitution protect religious freedom and cultural rights of minorities, Articles 14 through 24 ensure an individual 's rights to equality and freedom. This forces the question: why be
The use of the marijuana plant is an issue all over the world that continues to be controversial. It goes by many names: pot, cannabis, marijuana, weed; but they all are the same plant. Marijuana is most commonly smoked, but there are other ways of administering THC and CBD. Tetrahydrocannabinol, otherwise known as THC, the psychoactive component of marijuana is what gives the users a “high”. Cannabidiol, otherwise known as CBD, is the non-psychoactive component of the plant used for its medicinal properties. Some other common methods of ingestion are through edible products, oils, and oral solutions. Though its growing popularity has been demonstrated through many forms of media, marijuana use is extremely stigmatized in almost all countries. This is due to it being illegal to sell, grow or use in the majority of the world. Here in the US, marijuana use has been prohibited since the Marijuana Tax Act was enforced in 1937. For this reason and many others, there are many negative misconceptions about the cannabis plant that are spread throughout society. In reality, marijuana actually has a wide variety of positive effects that would appeal for it to be legalized in the entire US. The legalization of marijuana for medical use in all 50 states would be extremely beneficial for people, the economy and the health of those with serious diseases.
