There are two issues that are expected to arise in this research which are confidentiality and off the record comments. Firstly, confidentiality issue in a research context is referring to information about individuals which are collected during process of conducting research will not be disclosed. Therefore in order to address this issue, participants will be guaranted that their information will be protected through several process that are aim to anonymise them. Next, regarding off the record comments issue, some participants may provide comments that they do want to be included in the research. Since it will be breach of confidentiality if the comments are use. Thus, first thing that will be done to handle this issue is to negotiate with
After reviewing the case study, Mr. B a twenty-eight year old male was informed that he has possibilities of catching a disease in the next five years; although he resulted positive in his blood test for HIV. Confidentiality is the ethical code or lawful right that a physician or other health professional will hold secret all information relating to patient, unless the patient gives consent permitting disclosure
If confidentiality is breaches then Barbara should first consult with her supervisor to get additional support on how to deal with this situation. Barbara may also talk to the group and inform them if confidentiality was breaches she will need to transfer the client to another group and make the client understand that it is not right what they did. Barbara should also inform the group the importance of confidentiality. According to ACA “B.4.a. Group Work in group work, counselors clearly explain the importance and parameters of confidentiality for the specific group.” Before Barbara takes any actions she should first consult with her supervisor to see what alternative they can do when a client breaches confidentiality.
☐Lack of Confidentiality:Participant identity and responses will be linked by people other than the investigator(s).Both the consent and debriefing procedures need to include specific statements and options for the participants to sign indicating both awareness and approval for use of their data in the study (e.g., video and audio recordings, use of quotations from participants in manuscripts or public presentations).
Remley and Herlihy (2016) defines confidentiality as an ethical concept which refers to the counselor 's obligation to respect the client 's privacy and in session discussion will be protected from disclosure without their consent (p.108). The receptionist never disclosed what was being discussed in wife A session; however, her inadvertent breach of confidentiality occurred the moment she divulged the fact that wife A is a patient at a mental health facility. An important premise to understanding the ethical principle of confidentiality is base that a counselor respects the client 's right to privacy (Remley & Herlihy, 2016; Quigley, 2007). Premise one states the "counselor honor the rights of clients to decide who knows what information about them and in what circumstances" (p.110).

Researcher will properly fill University Research Ethics Committee form and submit through the supervisor. This study intends to recruit participants and conduct interview at National Health Service, therefore will obtain consent from the local Research Ethic Service organized by the National Research Ethics Service (NRES). Information sheet will be made available for participants, containing details about the research nature; goal and method, which form the basis for the participant consents (Appendix 1). Despite the lack of a consistent understanding of the meaning of privacy, the Privacy Rule remains a time-honored and a universally accepted norm in the handling of personal health information (Nass et al, 2009). Privacy involves the collection, storage and use of a patient's personal information and determines who has access to the information and the conditions to that access. It guarantees confidentiality and security. The assurance of confidentiality prevents the physician or another health care professional who receives the information from revealing it in the course of their intimate relationship. The unauthorized or negligent disclosure can constitute a breach of that guarantee of confidentiality. And the assurance of security means that the patient's records will be kept safe from unauthorized use. Hacking into the computer system violates security and confidentiality (Nass et al).
Confidentiality is the authorized security restrictions placed on PNP information access and disclosure, including security measures for safeguarding proprietary and personal data privacy. Confidentiality refers to privacy of information the “need to know basis” concept the permissions to view, share, and use information. Low level confidentiality may be considered for public view and use. It is considered not threatening in case of public disclosure. On the other hand, information with a high level of confidentiality is considered secret in order to prevent compromise of PNP information and systems which may lead to severe consequences such as legal liabilities and institutional damage.
Ethical research will be conducted for this research study. When dealing with ethics there are four key factors to take into account for the welfare of the participant. These ethical principles include: harm to participant, lack of consent, deception and invasion of privacy. The research proposal may encounter risks that potential might violate the participant’s rights. The survey and questionnaire will be anonymous and any personal details acquired will be confidential and will with-stand the following outcomes. This proposal will most sufficiently become less (Bryman,
It is vital to talk about each session to decrease the anxiety and prepare the members. Termination will be brought up during each session and address what happens if a member would leave prematurely and what to expect when the group is finished. Evaluations of this group will consist of two tests. The first is the anonymous SG survey, which will be given during the last session. If a member opts out of group before termination, the survey will be sent to their email and home address. The survey is composed of questions that show the individual's feelings, if they have benefited from the support group. (See Appendix A) It is anonymous in the hopes that the members will provide honest feedback. The facilitator is in charge of looking over the completed surveys and make changes to their current curriculum. The second evaluation is Keane's Mississippi Scale for Combat-Related PTSD. It is comprised of 17 questions that focus on their PTSD symptoms and thoughts from the military. (See Appendix A1). The Scale will be administered at the first and second to last session for a pre and posttest. According to Weathers, the progress suggests that a five to ten point change shows reliable change and ten to twenty change shows significant change (Weathers, 2013). The facilitator will analyze and review the data, so they can measure how the member's symptoms have changed. If there are less than five points that have changed, the facilitator will reevaluate the group and ask for suggestions from colleagues to see what can be changed. The group facilitator will evaluate him or herself after every group. It is important that self-reflection right after the session, so they can document what went well and what they change. The last way the group will be evaluated is during the last ten minutes of each session. The facilitator will ask if anyone has any suggestions for changes to please be honest and open about it. If
The problems that might arise during this research project maybe the lack of information and relevance of information. The ethical issues that I have to consider are confidentiality; keeping my observations and questionnaire anonymous a the way through my research project, person may withdraw their participants at anytime during my project, some parents may not want to provide the information in the questionnaire and therefore will not take part or want their child to contribute in the observation, remember to value and not judge the participants and allow them all to take part by sticking to equal opportunities and be sensitive to the children and their needs by balancing their rights of needs to protection and participants through applying the Children Act 1989 and 2004 as well as the UNCRC 1989 to this.
The nature of the banker-customer relationship is one of agency. Amongst the duties that stem from this relationship, the bank’s duty of confidentiality is clearly an issue of great importance. The focus of this essay is on the scope and limitations of the bank’s duty, both to its customers as to the public. In order to analyse this it is necessary to firstly consider the idea of duty of confidentiality, Secondly, it is necessary to study the Court of Appeal’s judgement in the case of Tournier. Thirdly, this essay will take the Jack Committee report into consideration. Lastly, this paper will briefly mention the Banking Code, it will also discuss whether the principle in Tournier may be outdated and if so, whether it is in need of a new crystallised self, clearly stating the limits and boundaries of the bank’s duties both to the customer and to the public itself in the form of a statute. To conclude this essay will consider the future of the duty of confidentiality.
