Have you ever proved yourself wrong, or accomplished something you thought wasn’t possible? Life is full of learning experiences and overcoming your doubts is a confidence builder, because you have something to look back on. Every person has at least one goal, but not everybody really goes to get their goal. Living in today’s society is like a puzzle, and to be successful you have to find the pieces. Overall I used to be a hesitant individual, because I didn’t know that many people. So I always had a quiet personality which made me anti-social at times. I used to try to do everything on my own, because before I had friends to assist me. Having friends increased my rate of productivity, and I began to believe in myself more. I know not to
The Front de Liberation du Quebec was an extremist paramilitary organization, purposed with French-Canadian separatism, which officially operated from 1963 to 1970. Their primary goal was Quebec’s sovereignty from Canada. They were most prolific and media focused during the October Crisis, during which they executed Pierre Laporte and abducted James Richard Cross. These actions were accompanied by a media release by the FLQ, a manifesto. This proclamation highlighted the plights of Quebecers as being impoverished, unrepresented by their politicians, ignored by Canadian government, and exploited by Anglophone Canadians. The manifesto demanded that Quebec immediately sever political ties from Canada, and be recognized as a sovereign country. Violent as their actions were, the FLQ was successful in nationally representing the unjustness of the unrepresented Quebec citizen. Seven years after the conclusion of the October Crisis, Bill 101 Charter of the French Language, was signed. Bill 101 did not accomplish the exact goals of the FLQ’s attempted coup - the sovereign country of Quebec – but it accomplished a cultural resurgence in Quebec, namely more representation of Francophone-Canadian culture. Though the Front de Liberation du Quebec’s actions and demands, did not grant Quebec its political sovereignty, it spearheaded a movement that absolved the Francophone culture of Quebec from being assimilated into the Anglophone culture of Canada.
‘’I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work’’. Mistakes are usually some of our greatest learning experiences and that's the key thing to remember. It's really not so important what others think of us. It’s far more important to understand what you now know about yourself.
You should focus on what you can control, not what you can’t control. For an example in school you can’t control how your teacher grades your project. You can control the effort you put into your project though. Believe you can succeed. If you can’t believe you will do well, you probably won't do as good as you would have if you believed you could succeed.
Susan Cain’s book “Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking.” Cain explains how introverts and extroverts is normally wrong for our culture. She also describes that shy people can still love social interactions, while outgoing people can still have some fear towards social are independent criticism/ failure of some sort. This means that introverts can be interested in others, friendly, and socially interactive. On the other hand, people can become overstimulated via their social environments quicker than an extroverted person.
I believe in confidence. It shows happiness in many ways. It helps you find happiness when you're sad or scared. It makes happiness come true. This makes us feel great when we do the things that we are scared of but are fun. This is what drives us to do the fun things. I think I realized this when I moved to colorado and I went snowboarding. I was scared I thought that I would fly all the way down the hill and hurt myself. This is the same when I went surfing, I thought that a sea animal would get me. But now I know that if you just find confidence and try something new and you’ll find happiness. When you don’t do something that's super fun that's just a waste and you're just missing fun. My dad also helped me learn this.
Eleanor Roosevelt has once said, “You must do the thing you think you cannot do.” I have doubted myself many times and there is one day I remember I doubted myself the most.
Even if you do fail, thinking positively can help motivate you to keep succeeding and not doubts
One thing that my father told me, actually a couple times, was “if you put in the work, no one can question that”. This meant a lot to me as I really thought about this and analysed it in my head. What he meant, or how I perceived it was, that you may or may not get to where you want to be in life, but nobody can question the work that you put in to get to where you want to be, or where you are right now, and this as with many other things was very, well, inspiring. That is, if you want to put it that way, and this is one of my very reasons for motivation and it helps me build confidence. Knowing this, I have high hopes that these lessons that I have learned throughout my time on this earth so far can benefit my well-being, as well as any of the peers around me, so that I can lead through my
There will always be times when I may doubt my abilities or myself. Yet, I know I will never be content until I have given every effort to reach my fullest potential. I have learned the value of hard work, and I feel fortunate to have that determination as I set off to find my position in
As for socially, I am considered by many to be shy but this is not really the case at all. Rather, I prefer to keep my mouth shut unless I have something I feel needs to be said. One of my pet peeves is people who just say things to either get a rise from others, or if they just talk because they are bored. I choose my friends carefully, and I have a small number of good, close friends, instead of a large number of people I barely know. I have never been one to follow the crowd, not by choice, but after years of feeling like I didn’t quite fit in with many other people, I just gave up. Anyone who couldn’t accept me for the way I am raises no concerns of mine. I do not need people like that in my life.
Uncertainty no longer makes me feel nervous, but assures me that I'm moving in the right direction. I began questioning what I want to do in life. I decided to let my inner six year old self free and unearth my hidden dreams. I search for answers when I'm drawing sketches, tutoring someone, taking pictures for a friend, cleaning a cut for my little cousin, or even cooking dinner. I will cultivate those dreams until they become my reality. Taking risks can be scary, but that's what makes life all the more
According to many psychologists and other social experts, there exist two major social behaviors that are widely adopted globally by a person as they mature into young adulthood: extraversion or introversion. Extroverts are expressive individuals who appear to be energized and enjoy seeking activities that involve socialization with others where as a reserved individual (introvert) prefers solitary pursuits where he or she often partakes in a favorite pastime. In her novel Introvert Power: Why Your Inner Life is Your Hidden Strength, Laurie Helgoe statistically explores the fact that more than one half of the American populace claims to be reticent and encourages those folks to embrace their natural selves (“Book Details” 1). Introverts
I was not always a social and outgoing individual and I considered myself unlucky in life. I never stood out and did not have enough confidence to attempt to
The Capital Punishment is a sure punishment. Sure punishment in the sense that the convicted never commits another crime, namely a homicide, again. People that oppose it support the argument that as human beings we shouldn’t take the responsibility of judging who should and shouldn’t die. That argument is backed by moral reasons, whether they are religious or simply ethical beliefs. Another argument against it is the fact that an offender facing the death penalty does not deter them from following through with the murder. The arguments for the death penalty are expense for an execution is cheaper and occurs nowhere near the frequency of housing an inmate, the convicted is sure to never offend again, and people are
