The song and poem each have developed themes that are very similar to each other. The theme in Roberts Frost poem is don’t get distracted by anything and keep on going. The techniques used to help are repetition and sensory language. What Roberts repetition in the poem is “And miles to go before i sleep” in lines sixteen and seventeen. Roberts sensory language is “His house is in the village though” in line two. The theme in the song that Tim McGraw wrote is have fun in life and make every second count. To help this theme become developed he used techniques such as: repetition, symbolism, and sensory language. The repetition in McGraw's song is “Live like you were dying”. What he symbols in this song is “And all of a sudden going fishin’
A voice of protest is important as it brings out a voice for the voiceless. This is evident in the quote “Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty, truth and compassion against injustice, lying and greed. If people all over the world...would do this, it would change the earth” and in the poems ‘My Country’ by Dorothea Mackellar and ‘The New True Anthem’ by Kevin Gilbert. They show a voice of protest through the use of poetic techniques which show the importance of a voice of protest.
Dawn revisited is a poem about the new ideas one could have in life and how it is easy to start again if things don’t go too well, as the poem starts with ‘imagine you wake up with a second chance’ which automatically introduces the topic to the reader. The poem is laid-out in a way that – especially ‘hawks his pretty wares’ - gives us an unimaginable image of the beauty of dawn, a description that would want people to manage their time in order to see it. The poet states ‘if you don’t look back the future never happens’ which shows us that one could only learn by making mistakes and that she perhaps learnt from experience and does not want people to miss out on the beauty of nature just like she might have done previously. She suggests
The story and the song used in this comparison are “The Old Man and the Sea” by Ernest Hemingway and “Stronger” by Kelly Clarkson. Both of them deal with hope and strong urge of motivation. However, they deal with it in a distinctive yet a very similar way. This essay will convey the main settings, plots, and themes differences between the two pieces.
Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words. Good morning Ms Linton and students, today I will be informing you on why you must choose these two poems for the poetry speaking contest. The poems I have chosen are ‘The Man from Ironbark’, by Banjo Patterson as well as ‘He Started the Cycling Craze’ by myself. Narratives help the readers enjoy and understand poetry as it is a way the poets can connect to their readers by using storylines that may relate to them or something that they enjoy.
A Different Love Story In the poems “Stereo Hearts” by Gym Class Heroes and “A Red, Red Rose” by Robert Burns, there are a lot of similarities, but there are slight differences in those similarities. There are similarities and differences in the symbolism, tones and themes of the two poems. In both of these poems, it is about showing their love to the girl. In my opinion, I think that “Stereo Hearts” is a better poem because, I can relate to how that author is feeling in the poem.
"When I first started rapping, me and a couple brothers would all sit around my place freestyling while someone beat boxed. I even used to tell all the girls that I was a poet. They seemed to find it a little more touching than a rapper" (Prince Paul, The Source 16) The lyrics of rappers are very similar to the words of Black poets. It is argued as to wether or not rap is a viable form of poetry.
There are many people who travel a distance in life to find the path they should take or to remember the path they once took. In the poem “The Path Not Taken,” by Robert Frost and the short story "I Used to Live Here Once" by Jean Rhys there are many similarities and differences. The authors’ use of describing a path helps them personify life’s journeys and self-reflection.
The relationship between a parent and child is an unbreakable bond. Especially a father and daughter relationship, that is how we got the saying “Daddy’s Little Girl.” In the two poems “Daddy” written by Sylvia Plath and “My Papa’s Waltz written by Theodore Roethke we see how each poet expresses their parental relationships in their poems. “Daddy, I have had to kill you. You died before I had time.” (Sylvia 1-2) In the poem, “Daddy” we are introduced to the speaker/narrator and their father's relationship. Comparing him to Hitler and the Devil we assume that their relationship was not the greatest. While in the poem “My Papa’s Waltz”, he has a different appreciation for his father, which is loving and affectionate, we can analyze this by reading the keywords used in the title, “Papa” and “Waltz” we get a sense that the young boy in his poem, who we believe to be Theodore Roethke, loves his father dearly as he calls him papa and dances the night away with him. Both Sylvia Plath and Theodore
The similarities and differences between the developments of the two themes of the poem “Stopping by Woods on a snowy Evening” by Robert Frost and the song “Live Like You Were Dying” by Tim Mcgraw are very different. Robert Frost starts to develop his themes by using words like “watch his woods fill up with snow.” this starts to show how beautiful nature is and that you should enjoy it. Another theme that Robert frost states is from the last two lines “And miles to go before I sleep.” which is repeated again. This hints that he is on the verge of death. In the song by Tim McGraw his theme develops by the repetition in the song. For example it repeats “I went skydiving.” and many other words and phrases. The theme of his song is that you should
Poetry have existed longer than one would truly think. Infact, Homer author of ‘The Odyssey,” is one of the most epic poetry has been in existence since been around longer than most would think, Homer the author of one of the most epic poetry The Odyssey has been in existence since the 12Th Century B.C. However, poety was still existence proir to Homer. So now the question remain, why does poetry even matter throughout these years? I would definetly assume that since poetry has been around for all this years, it’s significantly important in some way. But how and why does peotry matter so much?

When sorely press’d by Sith-like enemy, I think on thee, and soon have no regret. To know I have thy love doth set me free, Thou art a feast that doth mine hunger whet.
I am going to be talking about their methods that the poets use to explore the connection between people and the places in which they live in. The poems that I am comparing are Hurricane hits England and Presents from my Aunts in Pakistan.
The poem “How Do I Love Thee”, by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and “What Lips My Lips Have Kissed”, by Edna Vincent Millay are both well-known poems that both have themes of love. (LIT, Kirszner & Mandell, Pg. 490). In both poems the poet helps the reader experience a lot of emotion with the use of certain words. There are speakers in both poems. In Mrs. Browning’s poem, the speaker is undefined, leaving open that the speaker could be a he or she. Millay’s poem which is written in first person, the speaker is more defined leading the reader to believe it is a she who is talking about love in the past tense. Both poems are sonnets written with fourteen lines, and written in Italian style. When comparing these poems we will be looking at the use of rhyme scheme and metaphors and how they were used to express emotions in these two sonnet poems.
1.The speaker in each poem is unknown. In the poem"Design" It could be either Robert Frost or just anyone, when looking in the poem we see that it is in first person point of view when it say I that dose really tell us who the "I" person is, So we don't know who the speaker is. In the poem "The Most of It" the speaker is also unknown, the speaker could just be an random person, and with that it say world like he and him but does not say who he is so unknown. So to say the speakers in each poem is unknown/unidentified.
