In my humble opinion, all of the constellations are beautiful. But none of the constellations attract me more than the Gemini constellation. I wish I had an elaborate story as to why i'm so attracted to the Gemini constellation, but truth be told, Gemini is my favorite because i'm a Gemini! The Gemini constellation was first discovered by Ptolemy, a 2nd century AD astronomer. Gemini means 'Twins' in Latin. Without a telescope, it is made up of 85 visible stars. The bordering constellations are Lynx, Auriga, Taurus, Orion, Monoceros, Canis Minor, and Cancer. The myth that belongs to the Gemini constellation goes a little something like this. There once were two twin brothers named Castor and Pollux, together known as Dioskouri. Their mother's name was Leda, but there were two fathers. Castor's dad was Tyndareus, the king of Sparta, and Pollux's dad was Zeus, father of God's and men. Leda was married to Tyndareus, but was seduced by Zeus. Castor and Pollux were very close. One day Castor was killed, and since he wasn't Zeus's son, he wasn't immortal. Pollux asked his father if he could share his immortality with …show more content…
Anastasia was the first born, and Angela was the second born. Growing up they had a very close relationship. Always playing dress-up together and doing silly little kid things. One of the things both Anastasia and Angela have always wanted to do was go camping. So instead of actually going out into the wilderness, their mom set up a little tent in the backyard where they could camp. After spending a couple of hours telling 'scary stories' they decided to look up at the stars to see if they could form any shapes. While they were doing that, Anastasia noticed a set of twins holding hands in the form of stars. Anastasia named them 'The Gemini'.She told Angela that anytime they are far away from each other, all she has to do is look up at 'The Gemini' and she would be right there with her in
Zeus was known for a number of things, but his love affairs was one of the numerous things he was famous for. Zeus was the king of all the gods, he was known for the god of the skies, weather, fate and laws. Out of all of his lovers he had over the years, his first was known as Aphrodite. She was the goddess of beauty and was followed by Zeus when she first emerged from the great sea, but she managed to escape him. It did not take much time for Zeus’ wife Hera to realize that their marriage was falling into the deep end. Zeus had a deep lust which then made Hera’s jealousy fester. (Summary 1).
My Favorite Constellation is Hercules. Hercules is the fifth largest constellation in the sky, occupying an area of 1225 square feet in the sky. I've chosen this constellation because I quite enjoy the Greek myth behind it.
1. I've chosen the constellation "Draco." I chose this one because it was the constellation that my mother always talked about when I was little. She'd tell me stories about it's stars and she'd always let me stay up late to look at it. Draco is the 8th largest constellation and has 9 stars, the brightest of which is Gamma Draconis. It belongs to the Ursa Major family.
My favourite constellation is the Aquarius one. I particularly like this constellation because I love the mythology behind it. It is said the the Greeks connected the Aquarius constellation with Ganymede who was known as the cup bearer to the gods. According to the myth, apparently Ganymede was a handsome young boy who Zeus had an interest for. Ganymede was brought to Mount Olympus by Zeus, where he served as cup bearer to the gods and there he was granted eternal youth after he poured out Zeus wine and water which caused a great flood because he didn't want to serve drinks anymore.
My favorite constellation by far is the Gemini constellation. The Gemini constellation is my favorite because my star sign is Gemini. And it is fairly easy to spot in the night sky, although the best viewing month is in February.
I have chosen the constellation Draco. I chose it because it is in the form of a dragon and dragons are my favorite mythological creatures. It is located in the far northern sky. It's name is Latin for dragon. It can be see all year from the North.
I have chosen the constellation Scorpius. I chose Scorpius because it is one of the most interesting looking constellations (in my opinion), and it contains many bright stars. Scorpius means scorpion in Latin, and it is a zodiac sign, although its name is changed to Scorpio. It is in the southern hemosphere, and it lies between Sagittarius and Libra.
Pegasus is my favorite constellation. It lies in the northern sky and looks like a box with legs. I like the idea of a horse with wings that can not only gallop across land but also fly freely through the sky. I dream sometimes of having my own winged horse to ride and for this reason Pegasus is my favorite constellation.
In the story “Prometheus and Io” Zeus was responsible for creating a feud between his own wife and a girl named Io. He fell in love with her and then a series of feuds unraveled afterwards. Zeus trying to hide Io from his wife, Hera, wrapped her in a thick cloud, but Hera called off the clouds. Zeus then turns Io into a cow, and Hera is reluctant to believe it is just a cow. She takes it and gives it to the hands of Argus. After Zeus sends Hermes to kill Argus, and protect Io from the hundred-eyed monster, she was set free. Hera drives Io crazy by sending a gad-fly. Io then wonders the world in madness and reaches the nile, where Zeus sets her back into a human. In the end Io birthed him a son and she lived happily.
My favorite constellation is Orion. The reasoning behind it being that I just love the goddess Artemis, and she is the one who, according to legend, created the constellation. An interesting fact about Orion is that the man of which it is shaped is the only man Artemis has ever loved.
My favorite constellation is the archer, or better known as the Sagittarius constellation. This constellation is known as a zodiac sign, there are multiple zodiac signs, and they supposed to foretell your personality depending on when you are born. Not only does this constellation have a colorful history, it also has an interesting present. This group of stars is one of the 88 modern day constellations and one of the 48 recognized constellations by the 2nd century astronomer Ptolemy. It is also located in the most dense part of the Milky Way galaxy. Meaning that the constellation has many nebulae and star clusters. I didn't choose the Sagittarius constellation just because of these exquisite features, but because according to the zodiac sign timing, I am a Sagittarius.
My favorite constellation, thats a tough one because I have several. But, since I have to choose one I would have to go with the constellation Pegasus. This is my favorite, because I like horses. I always did like the creature named Pegasus in the Disney movie Hercules. I also like how it's shaped in the night sky. Some information about Pegasus, is that it's located in the Northern sky. Pegasus is also a winged horse greek mythology.
My favorite constellation is Delphinus. I really didn't know much about different constellations so I did some research and found this one. Dolphins have always been one of my favorite animals so I instantly liked it. Delphinus is the latin word for Dolphin, and Delphinus is in the northern sky close to the celestial equator. Delphinus was one of forty eight constellations founded by Ptolemy in the 2nd century. Delphinus is a rather small constellation, ranking 69th biggest out of 88. It is also bordered by Vulpecula, Sagitta, Aquila, Aquarius, Equuleus, and Pegasus.
My favorite constellation is Gemini. I like this constellation because it has a unique name and it's my mothers zodiac sign. People born between May 21 to June 21 are Gemini. It represents the element of air.
Who doesn’t have a favorite constellation? I have found myself looking at the night sky for years wondering this, and over these years I’ve found my favorite, though it may be cliché, this constellation is Orion. I don’t have many reasons for this and honestly I believe the main reason is simply aesthetic preference. Another reason, however, is the Greek myth that goes with it. The constellation itself is located on the celestial equator, simply the projection of earth’s equator in space, and can be seen throughout the world. It was named for the great hunter in Greek mythology, and is one of the most recognized constellations in the world.
