Who doesn’t have a favorite constellation? I have found myself looking at the night sky for years wondering this, and over these years I’ve found my favorite, though it may be cliché, this constellation is Orion. I don’t have many reasons for this and honestly I believe the main reason is simply aesthetic preference. Another reason, however, is the Greek myth that goes with it. The constellation itself is located on the celestial equator, simply the projection of earth’s equator in space, and can be seen throughout the world. It was named for the great hunter in Greek mythology, and is one of the most recognized constellations in the world.
There are quite a few myths surrounding the constellation Orion, my favorite however states that Orion was a mortal man who was gifted to the gods of Olympus. Because of this he was a great hunter and spent his days taking down animals and monsters in sport, this drew the goddess Artemis’s eye and the two of them became close friends. Throughout this bond Artemis began to forget her vows of eternal maidenhood and thought to marry Orion. Her brother Apollo wasn’t pleased and to combat this he pointed out Orion as he swam. Apollo then taunted Artemis, daring she couldn’t hit the unidentified item, and Artemis took the dare, killing Orion and out of respect for her hunting partner she placed him in the sky to hunt with his dogs forever.

Orion would start off humble, excepting the gifts from the gods, and hunting beside Artemis and over time he would begin to see himself as
The handsome giant Orion was a companion of the goddess but her jealous brother Apollon tricked her into killing him with a distant bow-shot. In her grief Artemis placed him amongst the stars as the constellation Orion.<>
My Favorite Constellation is Hercules. Hercules is the fifth largest constellation in the sky, occupying an area of 1225 square feet in the sky. I've chosen this constellation because I quite enjoy the Greek myth behind it.
Zeus, the king of the gods, was father to Artemis. Her mother was Leto, the goddess of modesty and kindness (“Leto”). According to, (“Artemis”) Artemis was born on the island of Delos. After giving birth to her, Artemis helped her mom to birth Apollo, her twin brother (“Artemis”). Zeus asked Artemis when she was three to name anything she wanted. Artemis said a bow, just like that of Apollo’s, all the world’s mountains, and just one city. Zeus gave her all that and so much more. He granted her with a silver bow and arrow made from the Cyclops. Zeus also gave her all the world’s mountains, and 30 cities. He also granted her the promise of forever virginity ( Kevin Osborn and Dana L. Burgess,“The Complete Idiot's Guide to Classical Mythology”).
I chose the constellation Andromeda because the back story and myths it has really fascinates me! I feel that some of the myths behind the consolations can be rather boring, but with the romance and danger all wrapped into one, I continue going back to it. This constellation is the 19th largest in the sky and is located in the first quadrant of the northern hemisphere. It takes seven-hundred-twenty-two square feet in the sky!
Artemis, the god of hunt and the moon is also the daughter of Zeus and Leto. She is also the twin sister of Apollo. She is famous for taking care of pregnant women and hunting with her quiver and arrows. It is important to know about her because she is a big part of Zeus’s family tree and of the gods.Artemis was “created” when her mother gave birth to her on the island of Ortygia. As a young girl, she was a helper of midwives. Zeus and Leto were the parents and Apollo was the twin brother. Her quiver was created and given to her by Cyclops, the one eyed giant.A strange myth is that a handsome giant named Orion was Artemis’s companion in hunting. But her brother Apollon was very jealous of this giant and planned to trick his older sister. He
I have chosen the Perseus Constellation. I chose that contallation because I have always liked the Greek Gods mythology. Perseus, named after the Greek Mythology hero, is a constellation in the Northen Sky. Perseus is bordered by Aries and Taurus to the south, Auriga to the east, Camelopardalis and Cassiopeia to the north, and Andromeda and Triangulum the west.
Orion was the Prince of Crete, and the grandson of Minos, and was born in Boeotia to Poseidon and Euryale, Orions biggest weaknesses were rage and hate. (“Orion”) Orion (the constellation) is home to almost 2,000 stars and Orion’s constellation was used for important navigation and agriculture aid, and he also has a dog named Sirius. Orion has been brought back from the underworld after fighting many monsters, and he claims that he can hunt any animal in existence with his well known bow. There are many different versions of the Orions myth, but most people think he was killed by a giant
As a little girl, I would look up at the stars. I had been taught about many constellations, but I would always look for a certain one. Orion. Orion had been my favorite since I had learned about him. I never understood why. I tried to bring myself to love Pegasus, but I never could. Nothing appealed to me like Orion did. Something about the great hunter struck me. Since then I have loved him. I always look for him. In Greek mythology, Orion is a hunter. In fact, there are many legends containing Orion. Orion would wear a magic lion skin that would protect him from harm. He wielded a club of bronze and went about vanquishing evil creatures. In many legends, Orion is born and killed rather quickly. He dies by accident or dies on purpose.

Artemis is the daughter of Zeus and Leto; and the twin sister of Apollo. The Romans called her with Diana ; she is the goddess of wild animals, hunt, vegetation, and of the moon. (sometimes). Artemis never missed a shot. She is sometimes called the goddess of childbirth too, because she helped her mother give birth to, Apollo, her twin brother. (when she was just born btw). Artemis was the favorite goddess (by far). Her powers include speed and the power to disguise herself with any other power. One day she asked her father for wishes. Zeus gave her six. Her first wish was to remain chaste for eternity, and never to be confined by marriage. As a child she would explore nature with nymphs. She was extraordinary in killing game (animals), but
It is known as “The Hunter” because it is associated with greek mythology and it was also associated with fifth dynasty pharaohs. The three stars that make up Orion's Belt is called Alnilam, Mintaka, and Alnitak; they are the most important stars in this constellation. Also, Orion’s right shoulder Betelgeuse is the second brightest star and rigel is the first. Although, Bellatrix Orion’s left shoulder does not fall much behind by being the third brightest star in Orion. It was used as a central importance to many of the ancient cultures because they would align structures with the Orion’s stars, like they did
Artemis, “goddess of the hunt, the wilderness, wild animals, and the moon” (“Artemis” Index), was said to be one of the favorite goddesses of ancient Rome and Greece. Although she went by Diana in Rome, Artemis kept the same qualities. She was the daughter of Zeus and Leto and the twin sister of Apollo, god of the sun, who had strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes like Artemis (“Artemis” Index). Her powers as a goddess were immortality, master of archery, and the ability to transform the shape of beings. All gods or goddesses have weaknesses, so along with her powers came jealousy and the need to seek revenge.
"It's it obvious?" Nikki asked. "I want us to do a sexy photo shoot. It's not kinky. But I'd figure it would spice things up. Do you know how to take professional photos?"
Along time ago there in a small village ,was a Greek god named Chaos,he was the
Artemis’ roman name was Diana. Her dad was Zeus and her mom was Leto. She had a twin brother named Apollo which also is one of the big twelve. He is the god of art. They were complete opposites. Apollo was kind, warm and loving, but Artemis is only nice to her family but anybody else she was mean, cold, and pitiless (Donn, Lin). Artemis’ symbol is the bow and arrow, stag, hunting dog, and the crescent moon. Artemis loved animals and actually became the protector of all animals although she liked to hunt them even more. She was a very skilled huntress. One myth to prove this is, one time when Apollo noticed that Artemis was spending a lot of time hunting with the giant Orion, he decided to put an end to their relationship. He challenged Artemis to prove her skill at archery by shooting at an object floating far out at sea. Her shot was perfect. The target turned out to be the head of Orion (Leadbetter, Ron). Although she had a hot temper and she was kind of mean, Artemis is a really interesting Greek
