Scott McCall and Ross Geller are two protagonists from the TV series Teen Wolf and Friends respectively. Scott is an average teenage boy who is neither remarkable at sports nor academics, whereas Ross is a young man in his late 20s. Originally Scott is a somewhat nerdy, asthmatic outsider with few friends, his life changes dramatically after a fateful meeting in the woods which transforms him into a werewolf. His new powers gift him athletic ability and more popularity, yet they additionally open up a world brimming with risk and powerful dangers. On the other hand, unlike Scott, Ross isn’t living life as a supernatural. He is portrayed generally as a sweet-natured person with a good sense of humour although he can be clumsy and socially awkward. Scott is extremely caring and selfless. He always tries to make everyone around him happy; he never abandons anyone and strives to do what is morally right. In the same way, Ross is also cares a lot about his friends. He tries to convince his friends to act for the best in difficult situations, even though such actions may be difficult to carry out. He encourages Joey to audition for a TV show. He buys Phoebe the bike of her dreams. Above all Ross is a very amiable and solicitous guy who is always looking out for everyone's best interests and often the …show more content…
His thought of saving others lead to his behaviour of fighting for what’s right and the environment which he lives in allows him these opportunities because he always has some new enemy to fight. He is selfless since he has the will power and determination to save all of his friends which makes him a loyal as well as a protective friend. On the other side of the coin, Ross is the only member of the group of his friends with a doctorate and, as such, can be arrogant. In most cases, his arrogance backfires. He is also shown to be quite irritable, often breaking into angry outbursts over negligible and small
Mattie Ross shows maturation through her bravery to look for her father in the dangerous country of the wild west. She does not fear of what everyone else would fear of, such as murderers or robbers. Mattie shows this bravery when saying “People do not give it credence that a fourteen year old girl could leave home and go off in the wintertime to avenge her father’s blood.” (Portis, 1). In this quote Mattie Ross speaks of how she is young to be doing what she is doing. It is very dangerous out
1. Phoebe Caulfield is Holden-the main character’s-little sister. I think that she is incredibly ambitious, especially when she wants to run away with Holden towards the end of the book. She is also very caring; she gives Holden all of her money because she sees that he may need it more than she does, even though it was her Christmas money. Along with that, she is also dependable for the same reason.
True Grit by Charles Portis In True Grit Portis conveys to the reader how strong willed and brave young Mattie Ross is from the outset. He also uses contrasting characters to heighten other characteristics and to show the how wild the west really was back then. Finally, dialogue is a key part of the plot to emphasize the stubbornness and obstinance of the people near the Indian Territory; with long passages of description to make the reader feel as though they were there.
Truman Capotes “In Cold Blood” is a novel based on a non-fictional crime story of murder; the actual murder of a family in rural Kansas during the middle part of the 20th century. Vince Gilligan is the creator of the television series “Breaking Bad”, a 21st century production; which brought to the viewer, a fictional crime story which is loosely based on various true to life characters: living, dead or just completely fabricated. The protagonists were the fictional character Walter White of “Breaking Bad”, and non-fictional Richard Hickock of “In Cold Blood”. Each man led tragic lives in the literary sense, in that they faced tremendous obstacles at some period in their lives, and they expressed a degree of catharsis before death, despite the fact their motives to overcome adversity were completely opposite; one man’s good, and the other evil.
He must convince himself and others that he is a very important figure and he does this by denying his insecurities. Another obvious characteristic he shows throughout the novel is that he enjoys having status among the group of friends. He wants to be the one who is threatening, and above all the other boys. He doesn’t like it when people insult him or get in his way, as in doing something, which he dislikes, or someone saying something, which disagrees with him. We can see this when he says ‘We know how to deal with tuchusleckers here’ he says this to Hersh when Duddy was giving MacPherson a hard time and Hersh told Duddy to ‘Leave him alone’.
The show Friday Night Lights gives viewers an inside look into the lives of high school football players of a small town in Texas. The show is astonishing on many levels, from it's unique camera styles to the complex characters. Many people usually dismiss athletes as dull characters and some think of sports as something pointless or shallow. The show disproves these thoughts by giving viewers a perspective into the lives of the players, coaches, and fans of the Dillon Panthers football team. This show ultimately builds empathy for the lives of the football players in the show, which helps in understanding real life athletes and their coaches.
My old journal got taken away when I got locked up in this box. All I get is a bible. The bible looks like its been handed out before to others that have passed in this God forsaken rat hole… I can’t keep my sanity much longer. I’m losing it! All I get is a little pea size hole that gives off some light, if that. Most of the time it’s filled with mud. I have come to believe that the mud is from the vehicles moving outside. It splashes up onto the wall. Sometimes worms will inch their way in the hole and that’s the only meal that has any personal delight. The taste of some what warm meal…
NBC's The Office and Parks and Recreation are quite similar, but yet so different. Both of these TV shows are comedies. They also both take place in the workplace, specifically an office. 2 Nick describes himself as a person who doesn’t judge others. He says it is a family trait that was given to him by his father. Nick is from an upper-middle-class family. Nick believes his accepting personality makes people feel more comfortable sharing their secrets with him.
5. What is Phoebe like? How can you tell that Holden adores her? She’s intelligent and because he is always talking about how great she is
H.G. Bissinger tells the story of the obsessive town of Odessa, Texas in his book, Friday Night Lights. This town has a toxic obsession with high school football and wastes away the week, only seeking the excitement of Friday nights that are filled with Panther football. The expectations held for the athletes of Odessa are suicidal and the preparation for life outside of high school is almost non existent. The town of Mount Vernon, Iowa also lives for Friday nights, however it has a healthy balance between the thrilling football nights and ordinary, day to day life. Mount Vernon athletes are held to reasonable standards and are thoroughly being prepared for a successful future. The town of Odessa is an insane town with twisted ideas that
Sustaining the ambitions of not only themselves but the alumni and town of Odessa, Texas is a lot to ask from a young adult. That’s exactly what Permian football provides to the people of Odessa, where the post economic boom of the oil business has left the town in a racially tense, economic crisis. The lights on Permian High School’s football field are the only sanctuary for the west Texas town. Socially and racially divided, Odessa’s mass dependence on high school football constructs glorified expectations for the football team to temporarily disguise the disappointments that come with living in a town tagged as the “murder capital” of
4. My first impression of Phoebe was that she is a nice, loving sister. As soon as Holden wakes her up he said “She put her arms around my neck and all. She’s very affectionate” (Salinger 178). This quote proves that Phoebe loves her brother very much. Hugging Holden as soon as she sees him shows that Phoebe is a very loving person.
He doesn’t want to see them fight and attempts to stop them in this quotation from Act 3 Scene 1 lines 86-90. Only a good, courageous man could step between two fighting men to stop them. These things make him a good character in Romeo and Juliet. Romeo can also be proven to be good because he is so in love with Juliet. When he gets banished he feels grief and sorrow because he will never see his love ever again. Being so in love makes him a good person because it shows how caring he is. There are many reasons why Romeo is a good character in Romeo and Juliet.
The siblings share several similar traits that become evident throughout the novel. Holden and Phoebe are both generous as they offer their money to others that
