Compare And Contrast California And Texas

In the comparison of Texas to New Mexico, it can be believed that they share very common political views being neighboring states but that quickly diminishes when taking a closer look into their differences between political cultures, the state constitutions, and the branches of their government including legislative, executive, and judicial. The two states also differ in the issues that they face but they share many as well mainly due to their close proximity to the Mexican-American border.

Detra, I can relate with you as I am also not a Texan native or know much about Texas government and its history. When I hear about Texas first thoughts that comes to mind is either their love for their football team, bbq, or women’s big hair do’s. That’s what I related to “everything is bigger in Texas” with, however as I have read it also relates to their pride, their state size and their growing population. I also never understood why Texans are extremely proud people then again as I have been reading and as you have mentioned they have had an interesting history and have shown that they will fight for what they believe in no matter the cost.

The Lone Star state also known as Texas is ranked second in area and population. With a growing population and a decreasing unemployment rate the state has a borderline healthy economy. With an average infrastructure grade and an 8.8 million surplus the state is looking good all around.

California State has its own laws that show indifferences with the Federal Government laws. However, the laws are under the guidance of the Federal laws. The main function of the legislative branch of California is to make laws, case works and power of the purse which allows them to vote for money allocation for public use.

On September 17, 1787, the U.S. constitution was signed. The U.S. constitution is a document that has a set of rules, guidelines, and principles that governs our nation. This constitution is the oldest written national document and has had 27 amendments. The current Texas constitution is the seventh document written for Texas. The previous six were all when Texas was still apart of Mexico. The current constitution hasn’t been revised since 1876, which makes it the longest state constitution in the United States.

The United States is currently governed under a federalist constitution and has a deep rooted history of setting up its constitution to accommodate transparency, checks and balance and prevent tyranny. The federalist system of government is divided into the co-dependent central and state government. federalism in the united states give states the power to create their own laws, constitutions, and government structures. As stated in the U.S. Constitution (U.S.), enormous reservoirs of political power are thus derived from the people who reside in the states themselves. (champagne 2017)

The legislative framework of a country refers to the process of creating, utilization, and governing of laws. In the United States, the government of each of the 50 states is structured in accordance with their respective constitution and although not required, each are modeled after the federal government, consisting of the three branches: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. Each of the state governments are also organized as a presidential system where the governor is the head of the state. Due to each state having their own governor as their representative, their legislative framework will vary with each state. For this paper, I will be comparing the legislative framework of Florida with the state of California.

America was unjustified because of the disputed of the territory. (Hook) Texas and Mexicans aren't being far to each other, or not letting one another have an equal part in the territories because Texas and the US believe their border was on Rio but the Mexicans thought theirs was the Nueces River they both want more land than the other causing a fight or a war. (Doc D) They are rude and disrespectful to the Mexicans when they lived in the Mexican territory, Because they think that since they live in mexico and we aren't Mexican we don't have to obey the laws/rules that they have made.Texas and Mexico both want big land masses so they fight over who gets what causing war between the two of them.

Originally California was not well known. One of the first mass migrations to California was the Gold Rush. During the Gold rush many people from all around the world and within the states itself rushed to California in hopes of finding gold and making a fortune. The gold rush also allowed California to become more ethnically diverse due to the migration to California. Today California is known to be one of the most ethnically diverse state in the US.
