The problem was that they could not found as much gold as they wanted so the king got desperate and sent more military to slave the Indians and search for more gold.
When the Spanish started to bring the religious to the new world the Spanish monks found that the Indians had very strange gods so they begun to christianize them by force prohibit them to see their gods again, but even so they adore them in secret.
The land of the new world was very rich and big the Spanish founded colonies based in that, a lot of people from Spain get to the new world looking for land and raised a family they found a lot of opportunities because there were land for everyone.
The Indians never known dieses until the Spanish brought it.
Everything discussed in Chapter 2: Colonists on the Margins, “When is Thanksgiving? Colonizing America”, and “The Natives and the English” Crash Course video spans between 1550 and 1675. This was the period when the major countries formed settlements in America. The book starts by explaining the Spanish attempting to take control of Florida but, failed when their leader Pedro Menéndez ran out of money and left to govern Cuba. Lead by Juan de Oñate the Spanish then went to New Mexico to find wealth and glory. When the soldiers found nothing of value they killed and enslaved hundreds of Pueblos (Textbook). The Spanish’s attempt at draining valuable resource from the New World backfired. They encountered small quantities of gold and thought if more troops were sent they would find more gold. When they didn’t find want they wanted time and money had already been lost.
Ch.1: Christopher Columbus discovered the New World to European migration. Queen Isabella was funding Christopher Columbus voyage. He convinces the Spain that this would open up better trading routes and it would make them wealthier. ¬¬¬¬¬¬ The Indians were all fascinated with the entire product that the Europeans has. Christopher Columbus and the Conquistadors cheated the Indians and kicked them out of their own land. The Europeans mistreated and executed all the Native Americans that they encountered. The large impact of the invasion was The Europeans captured and used the native Americans as slaves and they brought diseases, weapons, and a hostile desire for the land and control over the new world. The diseases that cause million lives of the Indians were small pox, bubonic plague, influenza, and typhoid. Also the Native Americans were no match for the firearms and explosives of the Europeans. The Native Americans were pushed back into the middle of the United States. The accomplishments of the Spanish in opening the New World to exploration, conquest, and colonization were to gain money, lands, slaves and
The Spanish were conquering the Americas in a really violent and brutal way. The Spanish were taking Native Americans’ lands and pushing them to the west.
The Spaniards treated the natives as slaves and attempted to erase their culture and family allegiances. They demanded more work from the Indians by enslaving them. They suppressed the natives and threatened them by trying to stamp out traditional Indian religious practices. After being treated so badly by the Spanish, in 1680 the Indians revolted and killed many Spaniards, cut the
2. Both Spain and France wanted the wealth of the land, Spain by forcing Indians and used them as slaves to work the land because the Spaniard were mostly gentlemen and did not engage in physical labor. France, on the other hand, paid the Indians established a relationship with the Indians by allowing further exploration and expanded fur trade.
Ever since the people from Spain came to Latin America, everything changed. The only reason they came was for three things, gold, god and glory. The native americans saw what they brought like horses and guns. Not only did they came with these new goods the natives never saw before, the spaniards decided to treat them as slaves and take their goods to Spain. This was known as the Columbian Exchange since the natives would give their goods to Spain, and Spain would bring their goods to Latin America. During this Columbian Exchange, the natives got diseases that the spaniards carried with them, causing lots of them to die. Since the spaniards had most
The Spanish exploration of America brought many new foods, types of plants, and many forms of wealth to the European world. However, the wealth that was brought from the Americas came at a cost. The suffering and enslavement of the Native people and the transportation of Africans to America to be used as slaves alongside the Natives. Many motivations were used to support this extraction of wealth and treatment of the Natives and Africans, however two are easily verifiable. The Spanish colonization from 1492 to 1700 was motivated by religious conversion of all peoples in America and the desire for wealth and profit that had a significant impact on the lives of Native Americans and Africans.
The Spanish came to the New World with the idea that they were going to practically enslave, convert, or kill the natives. Because of this the Spanish’s treatment for the natives was terrible and very early on. They would use natives to help them find gold and do other manual labor activities. The missionaries would attempt to convert them to Christianity and because a lot would not comply they would end up killing them. Early on the British settlers’ relationship with the native Americans is very different. At first, they were friendly. The first British settlers in a way to live on the Native Americans. North America them was very different from Great Britain, and the Native Americans had lived there for very long time. So, the British settlers took advantage of that and began to trade with the Native Americans and use them in order to help their new settlement survive. Although the Spanish and British relationship with the natives differed at first eventually they both ended up doing the same exact thing. They both killed the Native Americans and cause their societies to be displaced. Even though there and goals were different they both used the exploitation of Native Americans in order to achieve these goals.
Religion was a very important part of everyday life in colonial America. Sometimes people were not allowed to question what they were taught, and if they did so they were punished accordingly. Before 1700 some colonies had more religious freedom then others. While others colonies only allowed religious freedom to a select group, others allowed religious freedom to all different kinds of religions. In the overall there was quite a bit of religious freedom in colonial America
The Massachusetts colony, otherwise known as the ‘Massachusetts Bay colony’ was originally settled by Puritans in 1630. They were plagued by the religious persecutions of King Charles I and the Church of England. Weary from this dogged torment, they left England under the leadership of John Winthrop. These original colonists quickly established many small towns in the name of high religious ideals and strict societal rules. They also planted churches, spread Puritanism and religiously educated the masses, as these were some of their goals. A utopian society that other colonies looked upon with high regards was the ultimate goal.
The European conquest for establishing North American colonies began with various motivations, each dependent on different, and/or merging necessities: economics, the desire to flee negative societal aspects, and the search for religious freedoms. Originally discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492 in search for a trade route to Cathay (China), North America remained uninhabited, excluding the Native American establishments. Following this discovery, Spain –along with other European nations such as France, England, Sweden and the Netherlands– soon began the expedition to the new land with vast expectations. Driven by economic, societal, and religious purposes, the New World developed into a diversely structured colonial establishment
While trying to adapt Native Americans to European customs, Columbus and his followers took advantage of the Indians. The Spanish burned the Natives sacred objects and would not allow them to practice their own religions. They also abused the Natives, enslaving them, taking land from them, and raping their women. Because of the conquistadors quest for gold and other riches,
Natives were humiliated and dehumanized. Spaniards did not see the huge genocide that was going on , they just saw the land they was stealing from the natives and the money they were getting out of it. Time past and more and more settled in what now is called the United States. The Englishmen have settled near the east coast when coming to the Americas. English settlements kept growing so they needed to wipe out the natives out to have the land. “Not able to enslave the Indians, and not able to live with them, the English decided to exterminate them” (page, 19). The Indians learned that Europeans were and will always be stronger than them. They learned that European weapons will always be more powerful then whatever they made. Europeans had guns, Indians had spares. Europeans were devious and trick Indians to turn to each other. Tribes were tricked by these masterminds and started conflicted with each other and battles. The Europeans had mass murdered the native Americans with no sympathy. The native Americans could not do anything about it so they had to listen to the European due to the fact they were more powerful. As for the Englishmen they used any type of excuse to get into war. Europeans called native Americans Indians because when Columbus arrived in America he believed that he was in India so he thought they were Indians, its in politically incorrect but calling them Indians is okay because they truly traveled from Asia to America
Native Americans had inherited the land now called America and eventually their lives were destroyed due to European Colonization. When the Europeans arrived and settled, they changed the Native American way of life for the worst. These changes were caused by a number of factors including disease, loss of land, attempts to export religion, and laws, which violated Native American culture.
Columbus came across a wealth of things that would help them for life. They had a vast area of land to do whatever they wanted to do with it. They could use the water, oil, lumber, coal, and so many other things. They were faced with a new group of people, people they didn't know what to do with. These people could be used as slaves for their personal use, being they came in and took over the land, and with the land come the people. When Columbus found this New World, he brought a world of wealth back to the Spanish, later to be shared with all of Europe.
