Which is more difficult, choosing the right college, or trying to find your perfect career options? Throughout the years many have realized that high school students tend to have a hard decision among many things, including college options and career choices. Students have to make a reasonable decision by either choosing the college life or being a worker straight out of high school. Both decisions would change a student's life in some way, shape or form by giving them opportunities of decision and life.
Knowing that students will have to choose between college or starting a career after high school makes decisions hard and sometimes stressful. Though the terms "college ready" and "career ready" have been used together in many education plans in recent years, many argue they are not the same. (David Moltz). "College and career-ready are not the same thing," Carnevale agreed. "If they were, why would somebody go to college or why would someone go to graduate school?" (Anthony Carnevale).

(Heath Wickline). With students having the opportunities that they have, it may make it seem much more open and wide-ranged. Having many different choices of colleges around the country and many different career options, it would really help a student upgrade to what their expectations are. (Heath Wickline).
College decisions and career options are one tough topic to comprehend, but with the right help, students will succeed with their future. No matter the situation, both decisions would change a student's life in some way shape or form by giving them opportunities of life and decision. The fact of knowing that I, myself has to make this decision of choosing between college or starting out in the career field after high school makes it crazy to
Graduating from high school is what every student is looking forward to. However, going to college is a big accomplishment for all students. The first day of freshman high school and college feels the same, the excitement and pressured. As many students experienced, both high school and college could be compared their similarities. First, both students in college and high school are expected to behave in well mannered, attend to every class on time, and respect the teachers or professors. Second, being prepared in class is needed for the success whether the students are in high school or college. Third, high school and college allow the students to figure out and pursue their career. In contrary, high school and college have a lot of differences to each other. Unlike high school, students in college can choose a college they would prefer, they can manage their own time, and students be able to learn how to balance their responsibilities and priorities.
Today many high school students are trying see if college education would good idea for future jobs or careers. Teachers and parents alike think about college being a good investments in for their children or students future. They believe that college is helping people to grow mentally and socially. Furthermore, they believe that getting a college degree is good for students that are trying to start higher paying careers, which will turn into a higher sum of money. On the other hand, there are many naysayers arguing that college is not the only option for education. But there are other options such as self-education, online schooling and vocational schooling. They consider college in being too expensive and requiring to take out loans making
One of the most important decisions in any teenager’s life is what they decide to do after high school, the choice is usually between college and deciding to get a job and start making money. Although the cost of education in America continues to rise, the benefits of a higher education are substantial and can be seen in the success of anyone who has a college degree.
Today, many students are settling for jobs immediately out of high school instead of furthering their education in college. Students should consider how necessary college actually is for their lives in the future. It provides one with a significant amount of opportunities, a greater knowledge about their career plan, and a better sense of responsibility.
For some students, the question of what to do after high school may be a burden to even contemplate as it approaches quicker and quicker. The pressure to continue another four (or more) years of education after high school can be overwhelming considering twelve years of schooling has already been completed; why go right back to school again? When’s break time? Some people are simply just not ready for college and they know it, or at least until after they have had a long break or have had some time to recollect themselves. Technically speaking college isn’t for everyone, nor is it necessarily needed for a career. Luckily today, there are many other options that potential career seeking beings can get a head start on such as community colleges and trade/vocational schools. These alternatives to a four year college are considered to be a good start on a job (and maybe even a career). The best benefits of these alternatives involve the cost of attending, the student environment, and the degrees offered.
One question that comes to mind when graduating high school is, “should I attend college?” For many graduates this question have a very obvious answer. A high school graduate may state that, “college is the best option if one is trying to get a higher level of education, and will help one compete for a higher paying job.” However, in my opinion most graduates do not consider the fact that going to college is a very big decision to make and that the schoolwork will not be easy. Going to college is not the best choice for every high school graduate because many students cannot handle college, colleges’ lower standards, and not all jobs require a college degree.
Many have experienced an encounter as a young child where they are asked what they want to be when they grow up. Answering that question may be easy as a kid because your mind is filled with thoughts of being the unimaginable. As you grow much older, those ideas begin to depart from the mind and you are suddenly more aware of what is and what is not possible in this world. When beginning the most important years of high school, you stop and rethink your career choice numerous times, stressing on who and what you want to be. Many adults such as teachers, counselors, and parents will emphasize the importance of knowing where you want to be in the future during high school, sometimes even middle school. It became imperative that one chose their
Choosing the right career in life can open a life of happiness and joy. In life, “if you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll be lost when you get there.” A good college career can make the difference between living to work and going to work for a living (Binder). In order to obtain the tools needed to work at your dream job, someone must teach them at a higher educational level. Education emphasizes freedom and experimentation as tools for students to develop meaningful ways of working after graduation (Roth). It is only through an education that you can find the tools to express and master the craft of your career and
In the American schooling system, children begin primary school around the age of six, this is called elementary school and most students stay there for five to six years before they go on to secondary school which involves middle school and high school. After graduating high school some students may go on to “higher education” known as college, but any schooling done after high school is no longer mandatory.
The choice of college is a difficult decision for the majority of people. Whether the student is brilliant or not going to college is scary because in reality nothing can prepare someone for college but the actual experience of going. There are certain factors about picking a major that make college extremely stressful. Picking a major is not as simple as it may seem and that is because students have to explore the options before settling. This means that students need to check if that major is economically viable, if it is what they want, and if it is alright with their family. The choice of going to higher education is ultimately weighed upon the influences of the students family and their own ambitions.
College After High School? Education has become an important factor in the ever-volatile world, from elementary school to junior high-to-high school. Individuals who are fortunate to obtain an education do so, but they never think much of it until the concluding days of their high school years. Concerns about life beyond high school strikes many profoundly, while others possess a clear vision of their desired future, which may include college. Personal growth and success derives from the experiences.
College is the time to explore your interests and make informed decisions about your career. According to Andrea DeMarco who is a Career Services Consultant for Brooklyn College at the Magner Career Center, believes it depends on very much on the student how prepared they are
It’s almost expected for graduating high schoolers to go to college. Our local college has multiple campuses with a good amount of career choices to choose from, but, for some,
“Where are you planning on going to college?” This is a question most will encounter when in their four years of high school in the United States of America. By the time high school students are seniors they are expected to know the college degree that will best suit their future career. Many of these students, not knowing the exact career they want to achieve, will pick a major to study in college that interests them. However, they generally have little to no experience in the career path they pursue, making it easy for them to change their minds. Changing majors after taking courses can be an enormous waste of time, money, and effort, so instead of diving straight into college after high school, high school graduates should get a job in the career field they are interested in for a few years before enrolling in college. Although school guidance counselors may advise against taking time off of school, after experiencing different career options students will have a better idea of where they want to go with their college and career paths.
As a recent high school graduate, I spent the last year of high school deciding what I want to do with my life. It was time to seriously answer the question “what do you want to be when you grow up?” As a child this question seems so broad and open. There are a million things to choose from. One day I could’ve been a teacher, and the next day a veterinarian. But one thing you don’t hear most kids say they dream about being is a college graduate. However, when the time comes to plan your life, suddenly the options diminish and you’re really left with only two; college, or a job. For a long period of time, the majority of high school graduates have chosen college, while the remaining students go directly into the labor force or find
