Intro
Has College lost its value over the recent years? I disagree with the thought that college has lost its value. College is a very valuable entity that happens to come with a lifetime supply of compensations. Although, college can be financially straining in the short term, it can be very rewarding in the long term. College engagements can help integrate college students into real life circumstances. Deciding whether college is the path for an individual is based on important everyday factors. Determining is college valuable, why must one want to attend college, what/who is the reason for an individual wanting to attend college, and what is it that an individual is trying to pursuit. Examples of these socially inclined benefits are accumulating friendships, broader communication skills, and developing high self-esteem. I have met a few new friends while attending college. A couple of the friendships gained has not only benefitted me when studying but outside of the classroom as well. It’s always great to have a support system when tempting to accomplish anything in life. I was always told the more the merrier. If everyone is contributing positively, the outcome is amazing. Another social benefit is communication skills. I can honestly say that from homework reading assignments given in class, my communication deliverance and reception has become more proficient. College assignments cause for more reading. Reading is fundamental! Thirdly, development of high self-esteem coming from the pursuance of bettering ones’ self. Self-esteem development have two essential factors; one being personal worth and the other a sense of personal competence. (http://healthyselfesteem.org). College can help establish the value of ones’ personal worth. (U.S. Bureau of Labor) Financial stability is the reason I decided to continue my education. People with high school diplomas get paid less than college graduates. Only 6.7percent of the world’s population hold a college degree, but fact remain that college graduates earn more money as stated above. ( www.collegeamerica.edu). There are millionaires without college degrees but that’s like playing the lottery, are the odds in your favor? My reasons for wanting to pursue my college degree is because I have 3 children to feed and house. Yes, some would think Its backwards but, I can only use that as a stepping stone in advancing my life. With a college degree, it puts me into a position to negotiate more money when it comes to my salary. More financial values of college are better insurance and retirement plans. People want to reassure themselves that they are monetarily stable enough to provide for their family. The insurance plans whether life or health can be financially draining. When you can earn more money, then you are able to have more options that you can comfortably
