Some of the obstacles I may encounter during my college career would be to be in dept., homesickness, and choosing a major. These obstacles may seem like nothing at the moment but once it happens it will be hard but not impossible to accomplish. Some obstacles are different to others because some people don’t get homesickness, or don’t have a problem choosing a major, some come from families that make enough money to pay for tuition so they don’t end up going into dept. like others. But all these obstacles can be solved within time.
In my college career I may encounter going into dept. by asking for to many loans that I won’t be able to afford all at once. Tuition goes up at alarmingly high rates with still adding the cost of housing, meals,
Overcoming obstacles will always be something that a person will experience. So far on my journey I've had a bump in the road with financial aid. However, that will not discourage me or prevent me from obtaining my college degree, when there's a will there's a way.
In my lifetime I haven’t really had big obstacles that I have had to deal with, but encountered few minor problems that I’ve tried to fix. For example, I have had trouble with my grades this year and was terrified that I wasn’t going to pass any of my classes. I had barely slid by with the grades that I had gotten first semester. I did not realize that final exams were put to your semester grade and was worried that would have major effect on my grades. On top of that I was stressed that my first two quarters were combined.
Unlike most graduate students, I have faced and overcome several obstacles throughout my college career. As a sophomore in high school, I had my first experience with loss. A very close friend of mine lost her life in a car accident, and approximately one year later my grandfather lost his life to a heart attack. However, these aren’t the only losses I have experienced, the month I turned 18 my parents lost my childhood home, and we were forced to move into a new home. In my first year of college, my mother had kicked me out of that new home, and I was forced to grow up fast.
There are many obstacles in life but in college there is specific things that can prevent you from reaching your goal. Time is the biggest issue with a lot of people that go to college. Money is another issue that makes college a difficult obstacle to reach. Last but not least decision making is a huge obstacle to face in college. Obstacles may be difficult but it’s not impossible to achieve.
The obstacles I met over the last three years are grades and shyness. I learned to overcome these obstacles by studying and joining the class of 2017 club. These experiences will impact my ability to problem solve ahead because they helped me survive. Also, they make me grow as a person.
“Why are you even bothering to go to college? Seriously.” “There’s a party tonight. You have to be there.” One of the obstacles to academic achievement that I face on a regular basis is a lack of support in some areas of my life. Actually, sometimes it isn’t a lack of support that is the problem, but more a pervasive attitude that education isn’t that important or is a waste of time. My coworkers are happy working in retail forever, and good for them, yet seem resentful that I have made my education a priority. At times they seem bound and determined to lure me off track with invitations to parties during exam week or offers of promotions if I cut my course load. At school, many of the students in my community college courses don’t seem to
We have covered several interesting topics during these past eight weeks, but chapter 12 Overcoming Obstacle is a chapter; which relates to my life and academic endeavors. When I have conversations with some of my student worker’s, I share some of my testimony. I tell student’s; they can overcome any obstacles by setting goals, surrounding themselves with positive people, and trusting in God.
As a result, student loan borrowing has substantially increased to compensate for the rising cost of tuition to achieve a higher education. College tuition from 1982 through 2005 exploded 375 percent, nearly four times the inflation rate, and continued to rise four to eight percent every year since (Clemmitt n.pag.). As a college education becomes less affordable, many are left searching for other means for paying for tuition, such as federal loan programs as well as private loans. Additionally, repayment requirements for student loans are criticized for being more onerous than a mortgage or car loan repayment requirements (Clemmitt n.pag.). Marcia Clemmitt compares, “For example, it is exceedingly difficult, if not impossible, for students
As a college student there are many hurdles to overcome while in school. These obstacles can be dealing with school work to maintaining adequate funds to having different levels of friendship and even discovering what is the next step in life. One major hassle is no longer being able to completely rely on your parents. Every students conquers them in different ways because no one student will have all the exact same issues.
Based on my Naviance research, college and career readiness for me, aiming towards a future in physical therapy, means that I need excellent people skills, including social perceptiveness and service orientation, and remarkable learning skills, such as critical thinking and the ability to collect research. According to The Council of Chief State School Officers, communication, problem formulation, research, interpretation are the four key aspects to college and career readiness. People skills, which reflect communication and interpretation, are especially important in physical therapy because communicating with patients and evaluating their needs are the fundamental principles of the job. Onetonline.org defines social perceptiveness as being aware of others' reactions and
Some things I can see that might get in the way of my dreams or could potentially be barriers would be maybe funding because I plan on learning every single thing I can about my passion to make it and do what I need to do in order to be successful in my field. Myself can sometimes be a barrier because I can get really lazy at times and know I have something I need to do but just don’t do it because I may not feel like it at the time also I’m a very big procrastinator I wait to the very last minute to do things when I know I should do them as soon as I get them.
I take my college career seriously I read my material try to study as much as I can, even though sometimes I may not have as much time as I wish. I have tried to stay focus on my goal by working hard and building study time and finding the exact classes I needed to take to get my AA and transfer to Cal-State. Up to this point I have done pretty good, I am having a very hard time understanding statics but I have decided to continue to study as much as can and continue to do my best and if so happens to be that I have to take the class again then I will, but I will pass it. This is now one of my biggest challenges in school, at least up to now, but this is what I need to move forward in my college career. Believing in me, I would think is my
There are various obstacles or challenges one might have to face and overcome in order to obtain a higher education or degree. Family, work, and finances were affected during my educational journey to obtain my degree. Many times I had to limit time with family or social outings in order to study and complete my courses on time to meet my goals. Making time for activities and family time was sometimes a challenging when a paper or test needed to be completed. I had to learn to manage my time more efficiently all while still going to work and get household tasks completed. Making time for myself and my family was a challenge at the time, but we all worked together and got through it.
The most significant challenge I expect to face transitioning to college will be confronting the absence of my family. First and foremost, I am a family oriented person and I accept that college will be a drastic experience for myself. I won't wake up every morning to eat breakfast with my sister nor will I be taking the same road to school. In college, I will most likely be walking to my class occupied with mature adults rather than the same people I have been knowing for four years now. I’m definitely going to miss coming home to my mom’s delicious food and our family dinners. However, my motivation to show my family that I can be successful without their assistance will definitely help me move forward so I can be with them as soon as I get
For first year students coming straight from high school, college life can either be very exciting or overwhelming depending on how well one prepares for it. Some have the notion that college is fun and is all about partying, while some believe that it is an environment in which they can achieve the ultimate freedom thus escape the stringent rules made by their parents at home. Others look forward to experiencing a different learning environment while being exposed to different cultures and sharing different academic knowledge. Successful assimilation into college life is determined by the student’s capability to transform into the new role of a college student. Numerous students face challenges they have never experienced before which can
