BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Imagine waking up early one day to your alarm clock screeching like a banshee. You climb out of bed and immediately fall onto the ground, exhausted from school the day before. The coaches made you run three whole miles! I know, I can’t believe it either! You pick your lifeless body up off of the ground and stumble to the bathroom. You check your phone for the time and scream in frustration. You can practically hear the Psycho theme music playing in the back of your head. Setting your alarm for six o’clock in the morning was a huge mistake. You got out of bed for absolutely no reason. It’s Saturday. Everyone knows what a pain in the neck school is. You have to wake up really early, sit through seven long, boring classes,
I’m applying to UA Early College because I want to be able to step into college ahead of the game. I have been an overachiever since I was little and take each chance I get handed to me. This program additionally prepares me for courses I will take when in college. It gives a more profound understanding of how classes will be and the paces they will go at.
When people tell you that high school would be the best time of your life, you don’t really understand the magnitude of what they’re saying until your time is coming to an end. A lot of people say that you “find yourself” in college. I, however, had the advantage of finding myself in high school. These past six years have been awesome, and I really mean it. I know it might not seem believable for a high school student to enjoy school, but I’m not lying about this stuff. I felt this way even before there was a scholarship to apply for. My mom taught me from a young age to enjoy going to school, and as much stress as it might have caused me over the years, I still loved every second of it. It’s easy to focus on the undesirable parts like sleep
I am writing because I have some advice I would like to offer you based on my own experience. I’m writing this letter to help you get prepared for middle school and survive middle school. There are three ways you're going to survive middle school.
I remember waking up that day and that feeling in my stomach, knowing what was about to happen. Growing up I knew about my father's sickness. My family, I recall, was always supportive. No one ever thinks about how one day, everyone you’re around for years, can just vanish. I cherished my friends as I was growing up. I lived there for a majority of my life, up until fourth grade. I remember sitting at a neighbor's house and having the mother come into the room and inform me that I need to be home swiftly. As I ran home, my head was crowded with thoughts to the point where I could not even think about why I was supposed to be home quickly. That day marked the transition of what would be the biggest change in my life. As by dad became sicker,
I lived in student home Verona for four years. My houseparents were Mr. and Mrs. Jester, at Milton Hershey School. I played field hockey for my 7th and 8th grade years of middle school. Someone who helped me when I was at MHS middle school was my sister Jada. She told the advice that I needed to hear when I was down or upset because I was on restrictions or developing. When I struggle in school she told me, “Get your grades up Gia or you are going to do bad in school and I do not want that for you. You’re a smart person and I want you to be successful in life.”
Becoming of older age, I began to understand that it’s perfectly fine to be imperfect. The extraordinary person I believed I would never become started off by committing faults and mistakes. Despite the fact that I was treated differently it pushed me toward understanding that I am enough. No matter what obstacles or battles I come across I’ve convinced myself to ignore the negativity surrounding me and converting it to positivity.
I would like to attend the BHS/UNM Early College Program for many reasons. As college is such an expensive endeavor it would be ideal for me to be in this program because it would supply a whole year of college for much less than it would normally. Not to mention that is may give me more merit for future colleges or businesses to offer me scholarships. I am sure that being in this program will aid me in future college as I will have already experienced it to a higher degree than most students. To me this is the next step in my life to achieve my future goals and hopes of being a college and high school graduate. I have many potential fields that I would like to pursue! My main goal is to be a musician/composer for films and other media, but
In life, there are periods of transition in which individuals often face daunting challenges or obstacles. Overcoming these challenges at pivotal points of transition can impel the individual to develop essential character qualities and skills for surmounting adversity. My transition into high school was momentous. Here I knew that the decisions I made would likely have a strong impact on my future. Therefore, I had to be meticulous about the extracurricular activities I wanted to be involved in. This mindset allowed me to stay focused and determined because I wasn't fixated on going to the next party or the new music that was out. I cared solely about the legacy I left behind. That is why I decided to run for student government at the end of my sophomore year. The election
My Junior Year of high school just recently started. I have learned so many different things while attending high school, and still have over a year to learn even more. As Matthew Kelly said, “whether you are sixteen or sixty, the rest of your life is ahead of you. You cannot change one moment of your past, but you can change your whole future.” This means while I have done a lot in my past, I cannot change anything that has already happened, but I am able to change my future. One of the most important things that I am involved in right now is school. My first two years at CBHS were good, and I made decent grades. Some of the grades that I made I am not very happy with now but I cannot change that so I need to focus on my grades right now because those are the ones I can change.
I’m Andy Adams a Junior in high school and in early middle college. I clearly don’t have a favorite subject yet, but soon enough. In English class I’m a little rusty on some stuff, but can work through it. I’m very motivated, when there is an assignment I’m on it right away and get done. I do get rusty on test and I still get retakes if I failed miserably and still get on it. I’m very good in English like I get a B previous English classes.
Teenagers all across the United States of America go to school tired. Sleep deprivation can create many health problems and the teenager’s test scores can go down. This is a huge problem, and the onlyone way to fix this problem, is to start school at a later time. Later school start times will bring up test scores and will improve the teens health. Pushing back school start times will do a lot of good in the lives of teenagers.
High School was hard for me. Not in terms of course work but emotionally it was difficult. I had no guidance and had an overwhelming feeling of being an outcast. My bi-racial heritage—African American and Irish—made it difficult for me to fit in with any one ethnic group and exacerbated the feeling of isolation. Eventually I found the solace of alcohol and drugs and from there I began to drift. I dropped out in eleventh grade and spent a year in an out-patient program meeting regularly with a consulor and therapist. During this time, seduced by the plaintive moans of the blues, I taught myself to play guitar, a skill that would prove life saving in the dark years ahead. The next year I found my way back to a new school and graduated on time, but my problems with drugs and
Ever since I could have a clear understanding of the roles doctors play in our society, and to remembering my first doctor's visit I instantly wanted to become one of those woman in a long white coat running around helping patients or performing a procedure. My passion for helping others is something that has empowered me to become a doctor. Because of my passion for helping individuals , my dream of one day becoming a surgeon ,I have decided to further my academic career at Virginia Commonwealth University ( Vcu ) . I plan on attending one of the finest medical schools in Virginia while also maintaining a job and balancing life as a college student and a mother.
Passion is necessary to excel. Once someone loses desire or motivation for something it becomes quite difficult to continue doing well in that field. I went through a crisis of lost motivation in my first two years of high school.
Growing up, reading and writing were always a pleasurable experience for me. As a little girl, my mother and grandmother would both tell me stories that they had once been told when they were children in their native country of Cuba. Although the stories they told me weren’t being narrated directly from a book, they motivated me to read some stories on my own. So I began requesting books and taking trips to the library. Those stories inspired me to begin writing and so by the age of 8, I picked up a pencil and embarked on my composing journey. I had countless journals throughout the years and even began writing short stories and poems. My father was the one that encouraged me most when it came to my writing as he genuinely believed I was talented.
