Life in 8th grade:
I lived in student home Verona for four years. My houseparents were Mr. and Mrs. Jester, at Milton Hershey School. I played field hockey for my 7th and 8th grade years of middle school. Someone who helped me when I was at MHS middle school was my sister Jada. She told the advice that I needed to hear when I was down or upset because I was on restrictions or developing. When I struggle in school she told me, “Get your grades up Gia or you are going to do bad in school and I do not want that for you. You’re a smart person and I want you to be successful in life.”
Life at Senior High:
In high school my career pathway was in Health Science. I earned two certifications that were available in this class, which were: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers, and Direct Care Staff Person. Key skills I learned from the health science pathway were: Accuracy and attention to detail, Listening skills, and observation skills. Those are just a couple of skills you need to progress in health science. My half brothers’ mother is a dental hygienist, so she helped me learn what I could to do as a dental assistant and in the dental office, possibly allowing me to progress to a dental hygienist in the future. In the summer I intern in our local dentist office in Scranton, Pa. As for the CES money that Milton Hershey School gives student here, I earned about $150 each marking period.

My major of study at the University was Dental Laboratory Technology/ Technician. 79% of students that go to the University of Scranton graduate within 6 years. I played field hockey in college and in my early mornings I studied for my classes. As a part-time job in the summer after field hockey practice, I work at McDonalds’ with my
I have always played the same three sports in elementary school, baseball, soccer and basketball but the summer before 7th grade I wanted the try something new and play football but because I didn't know much about it I was having a hard time deciding if I was going to play or not. But When football season came around i signed up.
I have completed advanced Math, Reading, and Science courses in addition to the general required courses. In additional to my high school course work, I have also volunteered at the Chambliss Shelter, Erlanger Hospital, and the Annual Elementary Track Meet. Although I had a rough start at the beginning of my high school career, I have learned some very hard lessons that have matured me into the hard working student I am today.
My Junior Year of high school just recently started. I have learned so many different things while attending high school, and still have over a year to learn even more. As Matthew Kelly said, “whether you are sixteen or sixty, the rest of your life is ahead of you. You cannot change one moment of your past, but you can change your whole future.” This means while I have done a lot in my past, I cannot change anything that has already happened, but I am able to change my future. One of the most important things that I am involved in right now is school. My first two years at CBHS were good, and I made decent grades. Some of the grades that I made I am not very happy with now but I cannot change that so I need to focus on my grades right now because those are the ones I can change.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Imagine waking up early one day to your alarm clock screeching like a banshee. You climb out of bed and immediately fall onto the ground, exhausted from school the day before. The coaches made you run three whole miles! I know, I can’t believe it either! You pick your lifeless body up off of the ground and stumble to the bathroom. You check your phone for the time and scream in frustration. You can practically hear the Psycho theme music playing in the back of your head. Setting your alarm for six o’clock in the morning was a huge mistake. You got out of bed for absolutely no reason. It’s Saturday.
During the last two years attending Miami Dade College, faculty and staff members have taught me to grow academically and personally. I am currently one semester away from obtaining my Associate in Arts degree and the time at the college has been a very rewarding experience. As a pre-medical student, my first choice was to major in Biological Sciences. However, after taking the 2000-level sciences courses I decided to pursue an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry as part of the preparation for Medical School. Although a career in healthcare is very challenging, I strongly believe that with hard work and dedication everything can be achieved. I consider myself a very studious person and I'm committed to my professional goals.
Middle school was the worst three years of my life. From getting bullied to getting suspended each year of middle school, I learned that it’s not that pleasing and not that great. I honestly would say that I strongly dislike it and would never go back and do it over again because it was boring as can be, too much bullying, and getting suspended. I have learned my lessons and thought about what I've done.
Throughout my life I have always been called a bright person, a reader, and an Einstein. When I was younger, I read many picture books such as Dr. Seuss and Dragon Tales and tried reading them to my younger siblings but they wouldn't cooperate. I was extremely fascinated about history and loved to play around if I was in that time period. For example, I pretended to be President Washington marching along the kitchen and even though my family didn't know much about him as they were from Colombia, they said I would make an amazing president one day. In elementary school I worked ahead of the other children and was made fun of for that but I didn’t care. Before middle I took a test that put me in an advanced math class so I can work at a much faster pass.Trust me, it was not as bad as I thought it would be so in my three years I worked hard and helped others understand the concepts of what we are learning in
My life hasn’t always been the easiest. In fact, I have gone through a lot for a typically high school student. Most of the things I went through, a lot of people haven’t. Yet, nobody is perfect right? In those four years, you may learn scholarly wise, but you also learn to grow up real quick. These four years in high school really made me think about the person I used to be, who I am today and who I want to be in the future. Your high school years really are the most important years of your life.
Fast forward to the track state meet eighth grade year. As I said before success can be a really tough thing to handle. I had gone through an up and down phase after cross country season ended. I didn’t go to practice, I started to not care as much about school and I was acting the completely opposite of the person I was before. After the upset at the state meet, I just didn’t seem to care anymore. I just focused on getting by the rest of the school year but it just didn’t work. My coaches convinced me to keep going they brought me in and had a talk with me. I still remember that day with my coach, Coach H. He was a really important person to me and had grown on me so much. He cared about his athletes like they were his own children. I sat
Have you ever wanted to do something very bad? So you done it anyway? It was between my 8th grade and my freshman year. I made a horrible mistake, but I learned something really valuable. I wish I never did what I did, but if I didn’t do it. I wouldn’t of learned the lesson I did. I lied to my parents.
The first morning I walk into my job I actually went to the wrong floor but I got there eventually. I felt very nervous, as any other freshmen intern would feel. Everyone at accounting said I was cute and tiny, which I thought was good. They didn’t have me work on anything major as it was my first day so I don’t think they want to overwhelm me with work on my first day. I could instantly tell that I would like it here, everyone was so nice and it was like they were family and I wanted to be a part of that family. Now that I’m at the end of my first year I can proudly say that I have fulfilled my goal of getting to know many of my co-workers and forming a bond with most of them. I’ve learned many things from my co-workers. They’ve given me advice about school and how I should carry myself through the future. For that, I can’t thank them enough on how much of an impact they have made in my high school experience.
“I am so sorry, what do you want me to do about it? Go back in time and magically fix everything?” I almost screamed at my best friend in the whole wide world over the phone. I had meet her is the 8th grade since then we had always been friends. We never ever if possible left each other’s side even it we were in the middle of a fight like we were then. In the same places we just kept on our poker faces. We loved each other to death and back then.
So this year I have just done nothing because the schedules and it’s the first few weeks. Last year in eighth grade I could've done a lot better I say this because I wouldn’t do no homework besides in class and rarely would do it at home. I think I could have had done better in eighth grade it was just that I was too lazy to do my work. Even though I wouldn’t really do my homework besides in class my grades were ok. For that year I got two A’s and four B’s. Well for me that is ok and if I would have tried more harder I think I could’ve have gotten better grades. I regret doing this because if I have gotten better grades I would have impress myself and my parents because I usually get two A’s, B’s, and C’s. I didn’t really try last year and
The pile of homework sat at my desk. All I can see is the piles of papers chasing me. Telling me that I’m not going to make it out alive, but if I take it one step at a time I know I can. Over the years, we find success in some grade levels, and other times we struggle. Because I did all of my homework, took good quality notes, and had amazing teachers to help me, my 8th grade year was the most successful year I’ve had.
