Growing up in a small community exposes a person to unfortunate situations, such as crime, death, and poverty, that directly impact the quality of life. Experiencing different situations can physically, mentally, and emotionally break a person. It's even more challenging to remove yourself off the dark path that you have seen so many people go down. When you do break yourself out of the inevitable cycle of negativity, it builds your self-confidence and pushes you to strive for better. I feel that certain circumstances I have been forced to accept and experience have morphed me into the person I am today. I am person that works hard for everything I want to achieve. I am dedicated, and I will always remember the ones who have helped me in my success. This career plan is influenced by my community, much like my drive to attend college. My community has a lot of stray animals and only one veterinary clinic. Each time I see a pack of dogs eating out of a trash can or playing in an overgrown, empty lot, I am reminded of what I am working toward. In order to continue working toward turning my vision into reality, I plan to keep working hard in everything that I do. Pushing myself to limits I’ve never thought of will allow me to reach my goals. I will go to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville …show more content…
I feel that the world will always need people in the medical field. I want to discover cures, medicine, and ways to improve the quality of life. I want to be apart of a major breakthrough and reveal new things no one thought would be possible for a long time. I would love to see several changes in medicine and the field such as the prevention of diseases, making the public more aware of fatalities that can occur, and most of all to give people and animals a life that is enjoyable which people in the medical profession are entitled to do everything possible to make that
Rural, northern Alabama is a beautiful place. It is a fantastic area to grow up and it is filled with people who would not hesitate to pull over on Highway 72 to jump start your car. Living here has developed me into the man I am today, instilling characteristics into me that I will forever hold dear and appreciate. My home town has given me all it has to offer, and I will forever be proud to have been raised here. Though I love where I have been raised, it holds restrictions that inhibit my abilities from cultivating to the extent I desire. In honest words, where I reside is not a great place for intelligence to thrive. I attend a public school in a small community of about a thousand people or less where ninety percent of graduating classes tend to stay
I remember waking up that day and that feeling in my stomach, knowing what was about to happen. Growing up I knew about my father's sickness. My family, I recall, was always supportive. No one ever thinks about how one day, everyone you’re around for years, can just vanish. I cherished my friends as I was growing up. I lived there for a majority of my life, up until fourth grade. I remember sitting at a neighbor's house and having the mother come into the room and inform me that I need to be home swiftly. As I ran home, my head was crowded with thoughts to the point where I could not even think about why I was supposed to be home quickly. That day marked the transition of what would be the biggest change in my life. As by dad became sicker,
Currently, I am working for Home Life, which is a non-profit organization that assists people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I am also conducting research at OSU on cartilage cryopreservation. After an arduous, yet enjoyable journey, I hope to travel to developing nations and assist those that are unfortunate, by providing knowledge regarding health and medical practices. Working hard in school and excelling in everything I pursue ties in with my long-term goal of becoming a doctor. This is due to the fact that attaining such a career requires self-determination, strength during times of agony, and resilience as well as reflection from every failure. Personally, preventing diseases and spreading awareness medically would be profoundly illuminating.
Growing up in a small town can lead to one having a very narrow-minded attitude. In a place where almost everyone is the same skin-color, has the same socioeconomic status, and follows the same way of thinking, anyone who fails to conform to the standard can be viewed as an outcast, subject to judgment from those who are looking in. I was someone who fell into this trap. I looked down upon people who were different from me, people who had vastly different ideas, dressed differently, or never tried to perform well in school. I failed to understand or welcome the distinctions between people, and never tried to get to know those who were so different from me.
Initially, in the future I would like to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy. I want to become an Occupational Therapist because I would love to help people recover from injury to regain skills. I am very focused on my career and the path I want to take in pursuing my career. The medical field has always been a passion of mine.
My faith in humanity compels me to help people. I aspire to enhance the quality of life for people on an international level. The world has a way of interconnecting people to form communities. I believe these communities unite the world as a whole, working together to terminate cancer, combat diseases, and extinguish poverty. Changing the lives of human beings fuels my desire to pursue a career in medicine.
I want to evoke change in the world. Enrolling in Medical Anthropology in my last year opened my eyes to how pervasive structural violence is globally and how it disproportionally affects the health of the most vulnerable people in society. Specifically, I was inspired by Paul Farmer, a physician/anthropologist who went to great lengths to provide medical care to people of the third world and raise awareness for countless human rights violations. I have aspirations of one day working for the WHO in order to put into fruition plans that would benefit not only the country which I will reside and work in, but also humanity universally. My experience at a local Toronto hospital has enabled me to see what it really means to be a doctor. Being a doctor entails much more than assessing a patient and prescribing them medication. One must empathize with the plight of his/her patients.
I am a Jamaican, but first and foremost, I am a Portlander. I was born in Buff Bay, Portland, but spent a great deal of my younger years in Orange Bay, Portland. I later returned to Buff Bay to spend my late teenage years. My experiences growing up in Portland have led me to where I am today. The many trials and tribulations that I encountered in Portland has given me the drive, determination, resiliency, and passion to succeed against all odds.
As a long term goal, I aim to continue pursuing my passion for a career in medicine. Seeing my parents who have arthritis, and combining it with my experiences working with the elderly and my interest in the sciences, I made my goal of becoming a rheumatologist. However, I aim to also stay open to the endless opportunities in life, because we never know where we may be needed to make a positive change in the
Last year, my small high school was finally graced with an Astronomy class. I eagerly signed up, and discovered the curriculum surpassed my expectations. I had a wonderful time in the class, and discovered many wonderful things. The creation and destruction of stars, the substances that make up our universe, extraordinary facts about planets, moons, and asteroids; these are just a fraction of the topics I learned throughout the class, but only one really stretched my mind. Stretched may even be too simple of a term to describe its effect on my mind.
Woah, have you ever had Drubers doughnuts. There the best doughnuts in Kansas. I love being able to go to Drubers at night with all my friends, even though you have to wait in line it's all worth it. This is why you should move to Newton.
For me, the medical field has always been my passion. I started from a child having envisions of being an exceptional doctor and helping people heal. However, as I aged, those dreams seemed to be further from me. Even though the fantasy of becoming a doctor was never a realistic goal for me, the idea of helping ones in need never left my thoughts.
Throughout my life, I have worked towards one goal which is to become a doctor. Medicine offers the opportunity for me to integrate different scopes of science while trying to improve human life. Medicine has intrigued me throughout all my life because it??s a never ending
I am so very excited to begin my college career. I sincerely hope I will be starting at the University of Arkansas. This school has been my dream school for several years now, and I have worked so hard to qualify for admission. I plan to get my Bachelors of Social Work and move on to your dual degree program for the Masters of Social Work and Juris Doctor of Law. It has been my dream to one day fight for children who cannot fight for themselves, to pluck them from the arms of destruction, and to build a better future for them. I want to help them climb out of the destructive life they live in.
What career do you aspire? A question that is inevitable to all of us. Many of us struggle to find out the career that we are going to pursue. For many a decision of choosing a career comes when they are already in college and for others they seem to know at a young age what career they are going to follow. There is a group of professionals that we cannot live without; in fact we rely on them for good health and to save our life and the lives of our loved ones, and they are the Doctors.
