I have aspired to be in the medical field for as long as I can remember. At the beginning of every school year the teachers would inquire each student to share what role we wanted to pursue when we grow up, my answer was always the same: a nurse. I am very goal oriented, and I am aware to accomplish anything you must work for it and put in one hundred percent. Mistakes can be critical, but they remain a huge part of the learning experience and advancing. How one handles those mistakes are ultimately what makes or breaks you.

Currently, I am working for Home Life, which is a non-profit organization that assists people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. I am also conducting research at OSU on cartilage cryopreservation. After an arduous, yet enjoyable journey, I hope to travel to developing nations and assist those that are unfortunate, by providing knowledge regarding health and medical practices. Working hard in school and excelling in everything I pursue ties in with my long-term goal of becoming a doctor. This is due to the fact that attaining such a career requires self-determination, strength during times of agony, and resilience as well as reflection from every failure. Personally, preventing diseases and spreading awareness medically would be profoundly illuminating.

My number one goal in life is to make a difference. I want to be the reason that people smile and have joy-filled lives. With this, I plan on either being a veterinarian or a chiropractor, which I will be going to Saginaw Valley State University in the fall to pursue. I want to either help animals, or I want to help people in my community by giving them the ability to have bodies free of pain, or at least reduced pain. I am currently looking more into being a chiropractor, because I have a more personal connection to this career, for my dad is disabled with chronic back pain, but seeing a chiropractor has turned his life around and he can now be my loving father again, instead of the depressed, pain-filled father I once had.

My goals are to spread awareness about common illnesses and teach people the appropriate steps to avoid them. Doing so, will repair families, rejuvenate lives and return smiles to the faces of their beloved. Making sure that someone is healthy so that they can spend another decade with their family along with inspiring African Americans, is why I will continue my journey to become a physician. I have had a passion for becoming a healthcare provider for children for quite a while (for a long time). Children are one of the most important individuals of society because they are the future and will one day be in charge of the world. Their health at a young age is indicative to how their health will be as adults. Childhood has a great effect on how a person turns out to be so I hope to help children I hope to use prevention and education to preserve and restore the health of my patients. My career goals are to prevent children from having to spend time in hospitals or in pain and to help them live out their life and dreams to the fullest extent. Children play a very large role in their families, and when a child becomes sick, the whole family becomes distressed. Pediatricians not only heal children, but they help and prevent a family from suffering. I love medicine and children, and I hope to combine these two passions by becoming a pediatrician.

I owe it to myself, my family and to the world to be the best I can be and that makes me assiduously pursue my goals towards a career in medicine.

My whole life has been centered around the field of kinesiology. Since I was about four years old I have been involved in some sort of sport or physical activity and I have never wanted to change that. When I learned that there was a major that could revolve around sports and activity of which I love so much, I decided to throw myself fully into it. I have always been one to throw myself into whatever I am doing and challenge myself and set high goals. Therefore, I have chosen to go to medical school after my undergraduate education and become an orthopedic surgeon. Within the next ten years I hope to be on a hospital staff, improving my skills as a surgeon for sports medicine.

I hope to possibly work for a sports team and or be employed at Kaiser as a sports or shoulder and ankle specialist. I have seen so many sports specialist, but every time I pay a visit I am fascinated with all the certain types of specialty doctors have. I want to be different from some doctors though. Instead of calling me Dr. Thai I would want people to address me as just Jason, for the reason I believe that titles create barriers. Ultimately, my biggest goal would to one day travel the world to third world countries to provide help to those in need. With the knowledge obtained from college, I could work with others to make the lives of other abroad a life worth living. I am not pursuing this career for the money, but for the reason that I may help those who may not even be able to afford doctors. My aspirations now were shaped by my favorite aunt. My aunt was a dentist who sacrificed time with her family to take care of mine. She would give everything to see my family happy. I remember she sang the song "My Heart Will Go On" as I played the song on my trumpet. She passed away a couple years ago, and I was unable to thank her for all she has done. My sights have changed as I have gotten older. I no longer want to become a medical doctor. I may in the far future decide to become a doctor but I would rather be a registered nurse because they deal with the patients more. I also prefer working with pediatric or gereatric patients.
