Choosing a career path is one of the most important decisions I will make. All my life I wondered what type of career I will have. Now is the time for me to make a decision that will impact the rest of my life. Therefore I want to be certain that I choose an occupation that fits best for me. All of my experiences shaped me into who I am today. My activities throughout high school will help with this process.
Throughout my high school career, I participated in ice hockey, lacrosse and cross country. I earned varsity letters for all sports. Playing varsity lacrosse at Kennett High School sophomore, junior and senior year. Each year playing varsity ice hockey, and running varsity cross country sophomore and junior year. I earned the position of captain of the Kennett ice hockey team my senior and junior year. As well as earning co-captain sophomore year. I have been playing travel ice hockey for the Chester County Cougars ever since I was six years old. Freshman year, my team won the district championships. For my junior and senior year I earned the co-captain spot on the travel team. Playing competitive sports have been a

At the end of my sophomore year, I started my first job working as a laborer on a farm. This consisted of cutting grass, building fences and maintaining the farm. This taught me how to work hard and efficiently. During the winter of my junior and senior year I was employed at an ice rink. This consisted of driving the zamboni, sharpening skates and getting the daily chores completed. I learned how to balance my time with schoolwork, playing sports and having a job. After my junior year ended I became certified as a lifeguard. I lifeguarded at a local swim club in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. After working for over a month the club then asked me to be a part time manager for the other fifteen lifeguards. This experience gave me important leadership
Since a very young age, I have been involved in community service and extracurricular activities. I started playing sports at the age of three, beginning with gymnastics. Soon after, I joined many other sports teams, including, dance, soccer, and softball. In middle school and throughout high school, I ran track and cross country and continued playing soccer. Senior year of high school,
During the summer, I worked at my aunt's coffee shop. I learned how to work with money and how to deal with customers. I also learned how to keep a business organized, keep inventory, follow step by step procedures, and keep records. Currently I am working as a soccer referee for children ages 3-9.In the summer of ninth grade, I took a course over the summer called waterbotics. In that class, I designed, built, programmed, and learn how to maneuver the robot in water. I had to come up with my own designs and rebuild, and reprogram the robots
Junior year was my first year playing football for Riverbend High School and having played soccer all of my life I decided to be a kicker and punter. By the time that we started playing games I was the backup punter on varsity and would not play until October 10; the homecoming game against Hylton.
My freshman year, I qualified for state in the shuttle hurdle relay. The girls on my relay team were a huge help to me, by guiding me along with new experiences. We ended up making it to finals and placing seventh in the state. My teammates pushed me in practice, and I wouldn’t have made it as far as I did without them by my side. I was always told that my hard work will pay off, and it for sure did. Going to state track taught me that anything is possible if you work for it. As I grow older, I’m sure to be a great role model for the underclassmen by giving them the motivation that they can do anything if they set their mind to it. I didn’t only help myself by doing this, but I helped the entire team. Throughout every sport, I try to be a positive influence towards my team because we need one another to improve and make a great impression by representing Forest City High
During the school year I worked for a year and a half, part time at a Brewing Company on Cannery Row bussing tables and hostessing. Working about 30 hour weeks taught me how to manage my time with work and school.
I have dedicated countless hours to each sport, which finally paid off in high school. By the end of the year, I will have lettered nine out of twelve seasons. Most importantly, I played on the varsity level all four years in my two favorite sports. Soccer and basketball have always been my all time favorites, which truly shows with the amount of hours I have dedicated to each. Not only did I play for school, but I played for different clubs.
Ever since I was young, I knew that sports were everything to me. Since about the seven or the eighth-grade I knew I was going to end up coming to cathedral to pursue a football career. When I got to cathedral I started on the freshman team my freshman year. Following that year I was a sophomore starting JV working in with the varsity on Friday nights. Then from junior and senior year I started varsity at
My job was called, an athletic trainer's assistant/water girl. The other two girls and I, as well as the athletic trainer at times, worked together as a team. While I was helping the trainer, the coaches, and the football team, I was earning community service hours on something that I loved to do and wanted to continue doing for the rest of my life. The trainer eventually got a job just for my school and became a teacher and the athletic trainer for all sports at the
I have always enjoyed being involved in school activities. By the end of my high school career, I will have played volleyball and golf all four years. Although I was never the superstar or the best on the team for either sport, I always enjoyed playing and being supportive of my teammates. Getting involved with a team and making new friends has been half the fun. Not only do I play sports, but I also enjoy attending other sporting events. My favorite two sports to watch are football and basketball. While in third grade, I cheered on the 2004 Indian football team to a victory during the State game at Camp Randall. In 2012, I supported both the girls’ and boys’ basketball
I began playing freshman year, being the leading scorer on all three teams and playing in a handful of varsity games. I then joined club teams and played futures field hockey, which is an Olympic development program for high school students. Being part of this team sparked my interest in the sports world and was one of the main reasons I want to be part of the sports industry when I graduate college. I have learned how to be patient and a leader throughout my four years on the high school team. Although we rarely win any games and many of my teammates don’t take the sport seriously, I give 200% every game. Another sport that will definitely help me was being a competitive figure skater. I skated from a very young age until till high school when I stopped to play team sports. When I used to figure skate I dreamed of making it to the Olympics on a daily basis. As I continued through the sport, I won many competitions both individually and as a team. It taught me how to be patient with myself, to be tough, strong, and determined. These traits from field hockey and figure skating both will help me later in my
As captain, I led our team to qualify for Regional Duals, a competition we had not qualified for in 10 years. Becoming captain was really the final step in my transformation, when I began I did so it at my parents’ request. And for 2 years I toiled through a great deal of self-doubt and anxiety, as well as a physical obstacle. It came together as I realized that I was the one pushing myself and my teammates, unlike the way I had begun this journey. It culminated when my goals were met, and my hard work and persistence were acknowledged by both my coaches and
In eighth grade I found out that the Winston-Salem ice hockey team was going to join the Greensboro ice hockey team and they were planning to cut the house hockey team. This meant I would have to tryout for a travel ice hockey team and if I did not make a team, I would not be able to play ice hockey the following year. I was determined to make the team because of my fondness of ice hockey.
This year I joined the tennis team and really enjoyed the atmosphere and people I was around. Unfortunately I wasn't able to be a part of it freshman year but I plan on staying all throughout high school. I would love and hope to be the captain my senior year along with one of my friends and also try to be the manager this junior year. I love helping others and having someone look up to me, knowing I’m doing something right and trying to make a difference. My character would be able to show and improve even more throughout my life with
My whole life I have always wanted to do something where people will remember me. I went threw millions of career choices before I came to the conclusion of a nurse. It’s not something that will get me into History books, but its something where all the people I help will remember what I did to care for them or their loved ones. My mom went to school to become and RN, but dropped out when she became pregnant with me. After that story was told to me, I didn’t want to be anything related to nursing. It wasn’t until my step mom went to school to be LPN that I realized it would be possible for me to do. I saw how much happiness it gave her, and I want the same thing. She loved helping the patients by treating them, and helping their families
Choosing a right career path can be tough. Especially, when the parents are involved. Parents want their children to have a better life in the future so they want their children to be educated. When they are successfully graduate from the college they can get a high paying job and earn much more than their parents. However, does everyone listen and follow their parents’ decisions about the career? What happen if kids didn’t want what their parents told them to do? Is there a compromise and or one side needs to give in? It was a tough decision for me too. There was a lot of pressure on me. I was hesitated and somehow worried when my parents were involved, but I knew what I want for my career.
