The new advisory consist of three classes: Class A, Class AA, and Class AAA. Class A is where any student has a D or an F in any of their classes. Students who have at least a C- or better in all of their classes, but who have missing assignments in one or more classes are placed in a class AA advisory. Class AAA advisory is where students who have at least a C- or better in all of their classes, and no missing assignments in any of their classes. Many students agree with this new advisory system, but some also disagree. The new A, AA, and AAA advisory has its advantages and disadvantages. Class A advisory is any student that has a D or an F in any of their classes. Students in Class A that have a D or an F in one or more classes and will remain in Class A until the next grade evaluation. Grades are evaluated 7 times per year; at the midterm and end of each quarter. Students in class A must report to their assigned …show more content…
Students will remain in Class AA until they no longer have missing work. There will be a weekly check of students in Class AA to check on missing assignments. Students in Class AA are required to report to their assigned Advisory teacher every day. If the student is not missing any work, they will be classified as Class AAA for the following week and eligible for Class AAA privileges for that week. All classrooms and school policies apply to advisory including the cell phone policy. If a class grade for a Class AA student drops below a C- at any time they will have one week to get their grade back up or they will be placed in Class A until the next grade evaluation. This class advisory allows more freedom for the student compared to a Class A advisory. Class AA is still monitored, but is not as strict of an environment as Class A giving the student some freedom, allowing them to have a better chance of working themselves into class
The American education system has not changed drastically since the 1900s. In the early 1900’s before grading, teachers were expected to communicate in depth to their students on how they were doing in the class. This worked well for small groups and individual tutoring. The ability for this information to be passed on to those who were not involved with the learning process, such as employers and parents was limited. By the mid 20th century schools changed drastically as they introduced grades in the form of letters. The American schools now became more standardized as A, B, C, D and F represented ones grade. Depending what percentage a student received determined letter they got. An example is an A is a mark of 90-100%
Letter Grade: A = 90 - 100%; B = 80 - 89%; C = 70 - 79%; D = 60 - 69%; F = 0 – 59%.
Historically, letter grades have served as a tool to rate educational intelligence. By looking at the progression of a student’s grades over time, people are able to determine whether or not the students are developing skills in certain areas. Using a one letter grade to determine progress has received many critiques as a common system used in America’s education. Critics claim letter grades cause students motivation and creativity to decrease because grades shift students focus from learning the material to obtaining a good grade.

The Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meeting that I attended was held at the Alcoholics Alana Club in Anaheim, California on Thursday. The meeting started at 7:30 in the evening, though many members gathered earlier to smoke and mingle outside. The members were a mix of Caucasian and Hispanic individuals that ranged from early 20s to late 60s. They seemed to be over lower socioeconomic status (SES), and the majority of them had tattoos and piercings. This particular meeting was a speaker meeting, so the meeting began with the leader welcoming everyone and announcing the people visiting from other states, as well as people who shared that this was their first meeting. He then called up a couple people to read certain chapters of the AA book. Another individual then volunteered to be the ‘10 minute speaker’, and briefly shared his story and how the 12 steps helped guide his recovery. The treasurer then passed around a donation basket and handed out sobriety chips, and a 10 minute break followed. After the break the guest speaker shared his story for the next half an
There was a high food shortage in 1946 and this caused many to ration. World War II left a deep wound in India as two and a half million Indian soldiers were sent to aid the allies and 24,000 killed. Many were unemployed as they lost their jobs after the war since there was no need for war production. Gandhi’s party, Indian national congress, created in 1885 seemed it would be the power that ruled after Britain left. This changed, however, as the All Muslim league became popular during World War II. Muslims were a minority compared to the Hindus. The Partition of 1947 created Pakistan, where the Muslims would live, and India, where the Hindus would live.
Recently, the Junior Civitan Club held a charter ceremony to officially recognize the club as part of Junior Civitan. This was a very momentous occasion for not only members and sponsors of the club, but for the school as well.

Asa Grey is a famous American biologist. He was born on November 18, 1810 in Sauquoit, New York. Grey’s education started in local schools, before attending an academy in nearby Clinton New York. In 1825 he entered Fairfield Academy and after a year began attending medical lectures at Fairfield’s college of Physicians and Surgeons. While he studied there, he was introduced to chemistry, mineralogy, and botany by James Hadley. Grey began collecting plants during his apprenticeship in Bridgewater, New York. For a brief time after he received his M.D. degree in 1831 he practiced medicine there. In 1832 he abandoned the practice of medicine and spent the next five years in a series of part-time positions in teaching and libraries. He had already
The biggest issue with Sherry’s plan to stop grade inflation is that she didn’t account for the fact that there is no universal grading system in the world. Grades are based on a criterion set by a particular teacher, and the teacher is the final person to decide what grade the student receives. An A
If you own a business that has employees (other than yourself), you may, at some point, need the help of a Fair Labor Standards attorney. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), enacted in 1938, established minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping and child labor standards affecting full- and part-time workers in both the private and public sectors. As an employer, you must adhere to the provisions of the FLSA or face these legal or criminal actions that only an experienced Fair Labor Standards attorney can assist you with:
Students are more than a number. They fight for four long years to achieve high grades while juggling school work, family time, and extracurricular activities (“SAT/ACT Importance”). Course difficulty differs from school to school; students can only take the classes provided. They should be judged on which classes they choose to take and how they handle the work load given. Different levels like AP and honors classes should be taken into consideration.
