Introduction:The Civil War started from 1861 to 1865 and it was fought for the long-standing controversy about slavery in the United States. The war concluded with Abraham Lincoln’s victory and the abolish of slaves. It is said that the Confederate states started the war by attacking the union soldiers at Fort Sumter in South Carolina.
Information: However, a document may disprove many people’s statement. There is a document (Fort Sumter) that descriptively details Abraham Lincoln actions right before the Civil War. Abraham Lincoln supposedly wanted the confederate to start the Civil War. Abraham Lincoln intentionally “devised a plan that would cause the confederates to fire the first shot”(evidence 1) for the purpose of restoring the union.
The Civil war had started in 1861 in fort Sumter when the southern states did not wish to give up slaves, due to the hiring of paid labor would decrease profits. It was the summer in 1863 and General Lee was trying to figure out how to best end the war, with the succession being successful or victory for the south.
President Abraham Lincoln used a certain finesse and zest in issuing this proclamation, and I admire the opportunistic measures he took. He issued it as a war measure during the American Civil War, to all states that were not under control of the Union after the victory at the Battle of Antietam. The main factors were it would free all slaves in the Confederate states and prevent foreign powers from meddling in the issue. It provided a great asset to the Union by allowing blacks to enlist in their army. Lincoln had presented the measure as a military necessity and exempted slaves in the loyal border states, and areas occupied by the Union army.
The civil war is considered the first modern war because of the equipment that advanced the way the armies would fight, travel and communicate. The weapons they used had increased fire range meaning that they could shoot the enemy at a further distance. They also introduced the use of land mines, hand grenades and torpedoes. The armies were using telegraphy which improved the army’s communication between each other and at further distances. The telegraphy not only improved the communication between the troops but it also improved the communication back home.
In the time period between 1860 through 1877, the national debt percentage soared, the Constitution was put into question, and political power switched in the government. During much of this time period, the US was in a Civil War from 1861 to 1865. The Union was fighting against the Confederates while President Abraham Lincoln did his' best to keep the Union together. The Civil War caused the national debt to sky rocket. The government had to change in order to find a way to gather troops and still have people working in the fields and warehouses to keep the country afloat.
The American civil war brewing in the middle 19th century because of the varying views on slavery and also because of the growing sympathy for the abolition movement. But the American civil war was unofficially started when Abraham Lincoln was elected president (who was anti-slavery): slave states started seceding from the union. And when the shots at Fort Sumter were fired, the civil war had officially begun.
Texas had always been loyal to the U.S since its independence in 1836, but before the civil war, the state supported the CSA, but why? After all the U.S has done for our state, why did the 28th state fight for the south? fought for the south because of the love for the state, states rights,, and slavery.. Since the Texas revolution, many people fought for their state because they love their state. Now, the Texans have to choose to fight with south.
Before the Civil War, African Americans living in America were seen and treated as lesser persons, primarily by not having voting rights and not being given equal treatment in relation to the law. When the war ended in 1865, many changes were made, some good and some bad. The bad that came from the war was that so much destruction was caused, specifically in the south; many means of transportation was ruined. Although the destruction caused a major setback, much good came about from the war, like the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments. The Thirteenth Amendment, the amendment that ended slavery, states, “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted,
There is much debate about what the real cause of the Civil War really was. Some historians, like Allan Nevins, argue that sectional differences between the North and South caused a split in beliefs regarding state’s rights economically and politically. Although there were issues and debates over states rights before and during the Civil war, the main cause of the Civil War was the issue of slavery. Other historians, such as Henry Wilson and James Ford Rhodes, argue that the enslavement of African-Americans was the most accurate cause of the Civil War.
The Civil War was a result of one main topic, which was slavery. Slavery was a largely controversial issue that was considered by different people in many different ways. When the government seemed to take little action, some people decided to take their own actions, leading to further conflict. Many events led up to the war itself, however, including new territorial issues, the Compromise of 1850, and Lincoln's won election.
“Civil War” historians have had prolonged debates on how the civil began, most say slavery was the leading cause. African Americans have been enslaved since 1619 when a Dutch ship brought 20 of them ashore in the British colony of Jamestown, Virginia. From then on slavery was practiced throughout American Colonies. As time went on people soon started to have arguments dealing with the rights and wrongs of slavery which led to protests, violence and war. The Dutch had started a slavery system that turned into a type of cruelty that divided the nation. Slavery has had a great impact in start and end of the civil war between the South and North.
I believe, the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860 and the differences the northern and southern states' had about the abolishment slavery played a major role in why the civil war was fought. Abraham Lincoln thoughts about slavery and the state’s rights to avoid the abolishment of slavery were different. Abraham was an anti-slavery republican who believed slavery was bad for business and he did not want to see slavery spread to other parts of the United States. He was a strong believer that you could get more people to work for money vs working for free. The ideal of people being enslaved for work was not only cruel, but it also wasn’t benefiting America’s financial state. Although, Lincoln was personally against slavery, he never said he wanted
Do you think there could have been another way to protect the institution of slavery instead of causing war? The Civil War began when the Confederates threatened and attacked the Union soldiers at Fort Sumter, South Carolina on April 12, 1861. The Civil War wasn't necessary for many reasons, there was a peaceful way out, their were many other ways to solve slavery, and young innocent people were dying. There were many different ways to solve slavery that were not the civil war. The slave South could have accepted the fair election of Abraham Lincoln.
The civil war began on April 12th, 1861, and ended on May 9th, 1865. It had lasted about four years. The war was between the North and South. Northern states fought to abolish slavery and southern fought for slavery and states rights. At the time our president was Abraham Lincoln. All battles were bloody and worth a fight. The result of the war reunited us together as one.
This war started in 1861 to 1865 and started over slavery. It was a war between the southern(for slavery) states and the northern states(against slavery). The northern (republicans) were led by Abraham Lincoln. Seven of the slaves states form the confederacy.
The civil war, fought from 1861-1865, was started after seven southern slave states declared their secession and formed the Confederate states. The Union had many advantages that, ultimately, led them to victory. The had many political, economic, and military benefits that aided them in their victory.
