That “Perfect” Cinderella Everyone knows the Cinderella story. Well, the fake one. The one where poor, little Ella is treated so unkindly by her sisters and especially by her stepmother? Yeah, that’s not even close to the reality of the situation. And I should know. I am her “cruel” stepmother. It all started when Ella’s father died. Though we were all disheartened by this, Ella took it one step too far. She would cry herself to sleep for weeks, and weeks turned into months, and months turned into annoyance. I realized I had to do something about this, so I assigned Ella chores to do to keep her from grieving. But, I didn’t give her a thousand chores like she says I did; I only gave her a couple. All was going well with Ella-well, at least I think. She never …show more content…
A royal proclamation invited everyone to a ball to dance with the prince. Just Drizella and Anastasia and I could go. Not Cinderella. She didn’t have a dress and hadn’t finished her chores. So, like any good mother, I told her she couldn’t go. Cinderella was very upset. Turns out she did have a dress- that I accidently ripped. Yet, Cinderella stayed home while the rest of us left for the ball. Everything was fine until stinky, little Ella snuck out, found the sympathy of some “fairy godmother”, came to the ball, and danced with the prince. I was extremely upset. She had directly disobeyed me! So, when a decree came looking for the ‘maiden with a small shoe’, which had to be Cinderella because she had the smallest feet, I grounded her to her room, attending to let her out when the Duke came to try the shoe on her. But, I accidently locked the door and by the time Cinderella got out, I also had accidentally broken the shoe. And then, you know what she did? She pulled out the other match! She hadn’t given it back to the fairy godmother! She was a thief! I was so mad. But it
The Disney version of the story, Cinderella, illustrates a different moral than that of the original story. This story believes an ideal child should do what they are told and follow directions and in the end they will reap the rewards. In this story, Cinderella’s mother dies and her father remarries to a woman who has two daughters. While the daughters are pampered, Cinderella must work to keep the house from falling into disrepair. She befriends the animals and they help her to get ready to go to the ball by finishing her chores and making her a dress. When the evil stepsisters discover the dress they become furious because the mice used trimming from their clothing when making the dress. In revenge, the stepsisters rip the dress, leaving Cinderella out of options and out of hope. Just as Cinderella is about to give up, her fairy godmother appears and with a wave of magic creates a dress and turns a pumpkin and the mice into a horse and carriage. The only problem is that everything will turn back to what it was beforehand at midnight. Cinderella and the Prince fall in love at the ball but she must quickly leave because the

With regards to this topic, we will no go to the compare and contrast, first Cinderella. Cinderella real name is actually ella. Ella is not a princess nor a queen. She has an awful stepmother and awful two step sisters named Anesthesia and Grasella, they are both equally as cruel. They don’t treat her as another step sister they treat like a servant.
In her article, “Cinderella: Not So Morally Superior,” Elisabeth Panttaja illustrates the important role of parents in a childhood. She talks about the importance the mother plays in all versions of Cinderella as well as evidence showing what lack of parenthood does to children. Panttaja claims by way of the Grimms Brothers version of Cinderella and how each mother wants to guarantee a bright and happy future for their daughters by marrying them off to the prince. The similarities between the wanting of Cinderella and the stepsisters married- and doing anything to get it- contradicts the idea that Cinderella and her mother were morally superior, or different at all, from the stepmother and sisters.
In the texts The Sun Also Rises and The Stranger, women and their femininity play a large role in the story, and share many similarities, but also many differences. In The Sun Also Rises, women are portrayed mainly as strong and powerful, having control over their male counterparts. The Stranger on the other hand has less representation of female characters, and the main female who is portrayed differs in many ways than those in The Sun Also Rises, but there are some similarities. The main female character in The Stranger, Marie Cardona, demonstrates control over Meursault at times, but there are a number of other instances when Meursault has power over her emotional and mental wellbeing. On the contrary, in Hemingway’s novel, female characters
Cinderella is a fairytale for children that displayed love, loss and miracles; however, when it is further analyzed, it has a deeper meaning. Cinderella is a story about a young girl who became a servant in her own home after her father remarried a malicious woman with two spoiled daughters. She was humiliated and abused yet she remained gentle and kind. She received help from her fairy godmother to go to the prince’s ball after her stepmother rejected her proposal. Cinderella and the Prince fell madly in love but she had to leave at twelve o’clock and forgot to tell him her name but she left her glass slipper behind. He sent his servants to find her and Cinderella was the only maiden in the kingdom to fit into the shoes. She
The Grimm Brothers version of Cinderella is a written down oral story that people passed down from generation to generation, meant to teach a lesson about piety and good behavior. Before the Grimm Brothers ever wrote it down, the story had been told several times by memory. It is thus not surprising that the descriptions of certain events in the story, such as the way Cinderella went to the Ball, are lacking in details. It is obvious that these parts of the story are unimportant to the overall message of the story. Instead, it focuses on the piety of Cinderella and the wickedness of the step-sisters. Through the events of the story, it becomes obvious that the goodness of Cinderella is justly rewarded, and that
Each person in the world has heard of Cinderella, no matter what kind of version it may be. Cinderella is the one fairy tale story that has been popular and will always be the one tale that has to be told to children. Words and story lines might be twist and turn, but in the end the knowledge of the story will be learned in similar ways. As we all know when one story is told another is created, when one is at its best then another is at its worse. One version will always be better than another, but no matter what version it might be the story will be told.
Cinderella was kind to her step mother and step sisters, and the truth found them out. She did not have to be nice to them, and she did not have to show mercy, but she did. Cinderella had the courage to forgive.
The story that most of us know as “Cinderella” actually has a lot of different versions. These different versions contain several elements that are similar, but yet even more elements that differ from one another. The three main difference between all the different versions of this story are the characters, how others treat the main character, and the setting in which these stories take place.
In the past, feminism fought to establish equal rights between both genders; the work of women such as Susan B Myers, Amelia Bloomer, and other important feminist figures has led to females gaining the right to vote, health care, and education. Also occurring in this time period, the Civil Rights movement fought for African American rights, which eventually they had achieved after many years peaceful protest. Nowadays, the descendants of these movements, Third-Wave Feminists and Black Lives Matter activists, sit in front of a computer screen arguing against those who don’t share similar views for issues regarding the gender wage gap, police shootings, etc.; their intolerance for other arguments as well as the use of their cause as an excuse to harass a specific person or group replicates the behaviour of the Puritans in The Crucible. In The Crucible, Abigail Williams, the niece of the town priest, lies that she and her group were possessed by witches in order to get out of trouble for performing a non-Christian ritual; Abigail soon realizes the amount of power these accusations hold and uses them to murder those who go against her. The ridiculous concept of hanging a person based on false accusation of Witchcraft may lead the reader to think that society has improved ever since; however, it hasn’t. Puritanism continues to prevail in society today, whether these modern Puritans are aware of it or not.
The main problem with this is Cinderella in this case is running obstacles to please everyone while she continues to get treated miserably. She is entitled to the money that was left behind and she is constantly being lied to. Her stepmother and sisters lie to her because they enjoy taking advantage of her and stealing her college money while they make her complete the dirty work.
The mutilation of the stepsister’s feet in Cinderella also presents the notion that women will go to great lengths in order to undermine each other. This sends a message to girls that they cannot trust other girls. “In assigning value to women in a vertical hierarchy according to a culturally imposed physical standard, it is an expression of power relations in which women must unnaturally compete for resources…” (Wolf 12). The fairytale
