Similarities of Islam and Christianity
Introduction
There are different types of religions in the entire world. However, Islam and Christianity are the majority globally. They have a lot of following in the different parts of the world. The two are also known to lock swords in debates and also rivalry as they try to gain more followers. However, regardless of the many differences that exist between them, it is also good to note that there are also similarities. Here are some of the major similarities between the two religions.
Prophecy of Abraham as the father of nations

The name Jesus is mentioned twenty-five times. In addition, Quran shows great honor on Jesus and his mother. This means that the Muslims also recognize that Jesus was a true prophet unlike the notion that many people have that Muslims do not recognize Jesus at all.
Mary the mother of Jesus is mentioned in the Bible and Quran
Both Muslims and Christians motion the Virgin Mary of Jesus. The Quran is the only book outside of the Gospels that affirms that Mary was virgin and had a lot of righteousness when Jesus was born. The Quran recognizes that when Jesus was born, no man had touched her. She is the only woman who is mentioned by her name in the Bible. Muslims hold that Mary has the highest honor among all women and follow the utterance of the name Mary when they recite that may Allah be pleased with her (Giulio, 2012).
Return of Jesus in the end times
Another great common thing about Muslims and Christians is that the two believe that Jesus will come back during the end days. They share similar prophecies that he will come back to address problems such as conflict, immorality and injustice that has occupied the entire world. Most of the teaching in both religions tries to convince people the importance of living in harmony with each other. Both of them hold that this is the only way that people will be able to co-exist with one another and make world a peaceful place for living (Giulio, 2012).
Both religions also condemn immorality as view it as one of the greatest sins that can committed by human beings. They hold that God has punishment for people who commit these sins.
Conclusion
As can be seen from the paper, there are a lot of similarities existing between Islam and Christianity. Both are religions that believe in a deity who is God the creator of the world and giver of life. It is these similarities that need to bring believers of the two religions together instead of the conflicts experienced often (Maria, 2011).
