LOCAL In order to tackle Childhood Obesity in Birmingham, various initiatives are being implemented by the Council as well as other not-for-profit organisations. Some of the key initiatives and intervention programmes set up locally by Community Healthcare NHS Trust and other similar organisations to tackle Childhood Obesity are as follows: • Establishment of Active Parks in five different parks in Birmingham offering activities such as Running, Tai Chi, Netball, Green Fit, Walking, Rounder’s, Zumba, Cycling and Bush craft (Birmingham City Council, 2013). • Be Active is a scheme set up in Fitness and Wellbeing Centres around communities in Birmingham to support and deliver an extensive range of free activities for children and their families
