Child Vaccine Persuasive Speech

Vaccinations should be enforced because they save lives, rarely cause reactions, and have eliminated diseases.

I will be critiquing my persuasive speech on puppy mills. The issue of puppy mills is one that is very important to me, and I was very dedicated to my speech. My speech informed the audience of the detrimental effects that puppy mills have on dogs, possible solutions to the problem, and how the audience could help. My persuasive goal was to try and convince the audience to help put a stop to the issue of puppy mills by adopting a dog from a shelter or rescue organization, or contacting their local legislature about the issue. My speech had assets and drawbacks which were apparent in my content and delivery. My strengths included my PowerPoint, the emotional appeal, and the commitment to my topic. My weaknesses were the length of my speech, maintaining eye contact, and my verbal delivery. However, these can be amended using several easy methods, such as timing myself while I practice, writing notes on my cards to remind me to keep eye contact, and practicing more in general. The most vital aspect of my speech was that it exhibited strong features.

The ways I made my argument persuasive was through sound logic, statistics, and examples. For example, when talking about how if the space industry was as well funded as the military industry it could produce hundreds of thousands of jobs by using the statistics from Lockheed Martin. Moreover, when I talked about how we could remove space junk I gave examples of ways we could remove it from a scientific journal by Claude Phipps and Mike Lander. I believe that through sound logics, good statistics, and examples the majority of my audience was successfully

For this persuasive speech, I needed to pick a topic that I was passionate about. I wanted to be able to persuade people to see my side on an issue that I truly cared about. I stumbled across a topic that I wrote a research paper on last semester, and I knew this was the topic that I needed to use in my speech: abolishing zoos. Imagine, if you would, a small infant being rushed to the hospital; Her parents are desperately crying out for help as she is starting to turn blue. She is coughing so violently that she can no longer breathe. The sounds of the infant gasping for air fills the room. She was recently diagnosed with pertussis and it has progressed so quickly that now she is in respiratory failure. She is rushed to the intensive care unit where doctors and nurses rush around her in chaos. She is starting to crash, so they place a tube down her throat, an IV line into her head, before finally placing her onto a machine that will mechanically breathe for her. They maneuver around her limp body as they do everything they can to try and save her life. Her future is unknown because pertussis is dangerous and can be fatal. This could have been prevented if she had been vaccinated. Vaccines for children should be mandatory. It will prevent them from suffering through the long-lasting effects of diseases and even death.
