Spring: The Dakotas tribe were returning to their camps when Spring had arrived. They got straight to tapping the maple trees.They would use the syrup for sugar and hard candies. They would also use the syrup for geese and duck bills.They would trade the syrup for other goodies .They would hunt muskrats,otters, beavers,minks, and martens. I chose to research the Ponca Indian Tribe because they started out in the midwest, and currently still live in Nebraska. The 4 elements I have elected to write about are the social organizations, their customs and traditions, language, and the forms of government involved with the Ponca Indian Tribe.

During the 19th century, the Shawnee tribe was removed by the U.S. Government to what is now the state of Kansas. The group which became known as the Absentee Shawnee Tribe absented itself from the reservation in Kansas in 1845 (thus their name), and traveled southwards to Texas.

1)Paleo-Indians, the first Americans lived in bands of fifteen to fifty people, and traveled within their territory to hunt. Archaic Indians experienced a warming climate. One of the results of the warming climate was better hunting. Forest grew larger with a greater variety of plants and animals. The changes allowed some Indians to reside in permanent homes. The ample supply of food allowed more peoples to live on less acreage. The weather also allowed for specialization of caring for plants; this was the beginning of controlling crops to better supply the people.

The navajo tribe are also called the dine tribe. Who had lived in the southern dezert area like Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado. The navajo indians were semi-nominate and were called hunter-gathers. The men were in charge of getting food and keeping the camp safe from predators,and the women were in charge of the homes and land. The navajo indians had kelp sheep and goats around and had used there wool for clothes. The navajo tribe is related to the athabascan people by central canada. They had traveled to the southwest before the europeans had showed up. There tribe had consisted of medicine men and shamen.

Pueblo Indians were known for living in compact permanent settlement known as pueblos. The pueblo Indians are thought to be related to prehistoric Ancestral pueblo culture. Pueblo Indians lived in Arizona and New Mexico, most of the villages were in New Mexico along the rio grande and comprise group who speak Tanoan. Western pueblo villages include the hopi village, it can be found in northern arizona. Zuni, acoma and laguna villages are all in new mexico.

The combined tribe known as the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma that is currently located near the four-state area, consists of members who survived throughout the rough journeys, such as the Trail of Tears, which the majority of Indians went through. These Indians were once a part of the Iroquois Confederacy, which originated from New York State. Later, these tribes united in Oklahoma, also known as “Indian Territory”, after the nineteenth century war, between the States.

One Native American tribe in the southeastern region is the Cherokee tribe. The Cherokee tribe was the largest tribe in the southeastern region. They lived in log cabins instead of tee pees the cabins were circular they were made from various materials including cane, plaster, and sticks.. They were mostly farmers. they ate corn, squash, and beans the men however, hunted deer, bear, and turkeys The men of the tribe wore leggings and breechcloth. A breechcloth is a long rectangular piece of clothing. The women wore wraparound skirts made from fiber and deerskin. Men covered themselves with tribal tattoo art and painted themselves bright when they were in a war, but the women did not paint themselves. Cherokee Indians were found in the south and southeast commonly in these states North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia, West Virginia/Virginia, Alabama, and Tennessee. Old artifacts show that they lived in this region about 11,000 years ago to the present day and that they had very natural reliable resources that they used on a daily basis. The Cherokee Indians had a well-managed system in which they had villages of 60 or less for housing, the women did the cooking, cleaning, farming/harvesting and the men did the hunting and gathering. Humans across all cultures try to explain why they came to be as well as where they came from, and from these explanations become stories. These stories all begin as oral traditions, they change generation to generation and at some point, they are written down or not. Native American genesis stories are often not written down as they are viewed as detracting from the story, they are meant to be oral stories and once written down they cease to be "alive". The Cherokee tribe has a very interesting origin story, that can lead to some interesting possibilities of where this story could have stemmed from. The Cherokee genesis story originates from an early group of humans crossing the Bering Strait and leaving an impact on their ancestor's memories

The Cheyenne women and men had very major roles in the tribe. The women were in charge cleaning their house. A big roll of the cheyenne women was building their home every time the tribe moved. The women would also teach the daughters how to cook, clean, make the houses, and etc. The Cheyenne men were hunter and worries. The men ware responsible for protecting their family and tribe if anything tragedies occurred. The Cheyenne men would go on hunting trips for miny days ,but when the men got back from hunting the women would cook the meat to eat and preserve it for later.

The effect of being Plains Indians located on a reservation in Oklahoma during the 1900. Between 1865 and 1900 there have numerous events that have occurred for the plains Indians that changed their way of thinking, and their way of life here in the United States of America. It all started with as a simple introduction of the horses, buffalo, boarding schools, loss of land and major attacks on the Indians.

The Cheyenne tribe are a Native American nation from the Great Plains. Their cultural was very basic. The Cheyenne tribe was one of the more popular and well known tribe. The first Cheyenne territory was originated in Northern Colorado in 1851.The farmers in the Cheyenne tribe live in earth lodges. The french forced their tribe west to the Great Plains. The Cheyenne had an interesting culture and way of life. Boys were taught how to hunt, fish, and fight from their fathers. Girls learned how to cook, clean, and do chores around the house. Also, the children went to school and played with dolls, toys, and games. For example, the Cheyenne kids enjoyed playing the hoop game and lacrosse. A Cheyenne woman was responsible for building her family’s house. She dragged heavy posts with her whenever the tribe moved. Later on, the Cheyenne Indians killed buffalo so they could use buffalo hide to make teepees. They lived in teepees because it was easy to set up and take down. As a result of moving frequently, a teepee allowed the Cheyenne tribe to move within an hour. The Cheyenne women harvested corn, squash, and beans while the men hunted deer and buffalo. Also, they ate fish, fruit, and berries. For clothing, the Cheyenne women wore long deerskin dresses that were decorated with porcupine quills, shells, and elk teeth. Cheyenne men wore breechcloths with leather leggings in colder climates. Men wore moccasins while the women wore high fringed boots. Chief leaders had tall feather headdresses and long warbonnets. The hair style for men was long braids with a topknot and women wore their hair loose or braided. The Cheyennes painted their faces for war, religious ceremonies, and feasts. Lastly, the Cheyenne people were very religious. They performed an elaborate Sun Dance, smoked peace pipes, built ceremonial houses, and four arrows represented their sacred object.
