Chase Birdwell I feel that there are two sides to this issue and that they both have good reasoning, but I believe that technology can be better. I think that technology is better because in this day and age technology is the new way of communication. It makes it easier to call/ text people rather than having to wait until you see them again to tell them something. The most common form of communication is the cell phone. The cell phone is a great way to keep in touch with relatives out of state, and be able to talk to them whenever you want. Also the cell phone can be used to call the police, this can help to keep you safe. For example if you are in the woods hiking, and you fall and break your ankle, there is no one around to help you,

The Weeping Time was one of the biggest events in the history of the United States in 1857. It was the largest sale of human beings by one man, and his team. This all taking place on a racetrack in Savannah Georgia. Pierce Butler realized he had thrown the majority of his money away, and even though he was selling his other properties, it just wasn’t enough to make up for his growing debt. He decided that auctioning off his slaves would solve his debt problem. Pierce Butler inherited a hefty estate, and owned a total of 900 slaves that also lived on his plantation. Pierce split the group of 900 evenly and sent one half to the plantation of John. The other half would be sent on boat, or railway to the racetrack. George Fisher was in opposition
Kit foxes, also called Vulpes Macrotis are among the smallest foxes in America. The kit fox is very easily mistaken for a dog however when you look at their appearance you realize that proportions are not that of a dog's. Many people often confuse the kit fox with its larger cousin, the grey desert fox.
“Nothing, they never did. And heed my warning, a few years after my son disappeared, a wealthy attorney from Chicago, by the name of Wendell Gladfree, who was himself an adventur-ist, started petitioning the park fathers. Gladfree wanted them to release pertinent information about scores, I’m talking about scores of people who went missing in the park from 1920 to 1969. I met Gladfree myself and got to know him well. For a while, I thought he might be the one to crack the code of silence. And believe it or not, the fathers were court ordered to produce certain documents and things for

The Dred Scott Decision of 1857 ruled that African-Americans, even ones who were not enslaved, were not protected under The Constitution and could never be citizens. This brings up questions that will be answered in this paper. Should slaves be American citizens? Is it morally correct for one to own another human? Does the Dred Scott decision contradict The Declaration of Independence which states that every man is created equal?
The ability to communicate quickly and efficiently allows for the transmission of important data instantaneously. One such example of this is emergency text messages that can be provided to individuals for natural disasters. Should a natural disaster be about to affect an area such as a tornado, sever storm, flood, etc., people that live in that area can have emergency texts sent to their phones to warn them about the impending danger. This can literally save the lives of those who would have been otherwise caught unaware of the potential danger that they were in. Additionally, text messaging allows for people to maintain personal relationships with those that they do not have the ability to see on a regular basis. As a study showed, the average teenager uses the text message for about 54% of their interactions with their friends. Face-to-face talking was actually the third most used method of communication, weighing in at 33%. The ability of instant, efficient communication that the text message provides can help people maintain a relationship with a friend when the two literally live on opposite sides of the country (Minshall, 2012).
I would love the opportunity to pursue The Scott Hamilton Chase Fellowship. Being the daughter of an immigrant, I understand the existence of the knowledge and language barrier. I would love to teach a class for canal moms. I would help the adult learners, who are not fluent and literate in English, to communicate in English; so that they can not only meet their personal goals, but their employment, community, and academic goals too.
Since it is still sought after, this shows that dehumanization has not achieved a complete takeover of our society. No matter how evolving or important to current generations aspects of IT may be, technology could never be a substitute for face-to-face communications. For example, If you call a restaurant to make an order via cellphone, if static is in the background or there’s loud noise your order may not be right. Your order could be missing something due to a lack of certain information. However, if you were to physically go into that same restaurant and tell the server your order where they could hear you clear with no interference, you are more likely to have an order that is perfect because the customer and server were able to easily communicate. On the other hand of this, face-to-face communications are not always required for technology to serve its purpose. Constant real time information is distributed to emergency personnel and dispatchers which allows them to call for emergency services or make others aware of potential threats or disasters such as hurricanes. Modern technology has saved many lives by making the process of communicating expedient, useful, and suitably
