In 1967 the Manson Family began in Venice, California. Charles Manson took the role of being a leader to his cult members by making connections between religion and rock n’ roll music in order to brainwash them with his beliefs. During the summer of 1969, it is documented that there was a total of twenty-four dead bodies throughout three different murder scenes. Most believe there was a total of thirty-five killings, but some were not included in the total because there was not enough evidence. Due to the crimes committed, some wonder if Charles was severely mentally ill and did not have any control over his wrong doings. Mentally ill or not, that doesn’t justify his actions nor make it acceptable to treat Manson different from any other serial killer. Charles Manson was born in …show more content…
Most violent related crimes are not committed by someone who suffers from Schizophrenia. Not all people with this illness have the same symptoms and each symptom can alter over an extensive amount of time. When Manson mixed drugs he used with this illness, it turned into something else. Substance abuse can substantially increase violence and hallucinations. Bad hallucinations not only include false seeings, but also false hearing, feeling, tasting, and smelling of things that are not real.

It wasn’t until the 1990’s that Doctors discovered a new medication to help Schizophrenia. These drugs are commonly taken in a pill or liquid form once or twice a month. Delusions should go away in a matter of a few weeks, but it often takes up to six weeks to see a significant improvement. Maybe if this medication would have came a little sooner, Manson and his family wouldn’t have had the chance to do the horrific things they did.
He definitely succeeded in controlling the minds of his cult members along with other young people worldwide that sent letters to Charles still wanting to become a family
Charles Manson is one of the sickest cult murderer in the United States. He was often known to rebel since he was younger, as said by Paul Watkins. By the age of thirty-two he had been in and out of reformatories and jails plenty of times. It started off as burglaries for him to pay for a place to stay, then it started advancing according to Susan Atkins. When he went to the juvenile detention center he escaped after just one day.
As I’ve said previously, the life of Charles Manson revolved around interpersonal violence. From an early age Manson was the victim of child neglect – his mother (Kathleen Maddox) would leave him with neighbors, “for an hour, then disappear for days or weeks,”

Kathlin went to prison for 5 years for committing strong-armed robbery, leavening Charles with his religious grandparents. At age 9 Charles long line of crime started, Charles had set his school on fire and found he was going to reform school. At age 13 Manson was breaking into stores, stole cars and committed his first armed robbery.

Charles Manson is infamous for creating “the Manson Family” and sought to create a war between races with his followers. The book Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi, the main prosecutor in the Manson trial, chronicled the murders carried out by Manson and his followers, the trial following the murders, as well as the psychological diseases that may affect Manson as a person. Manson is responsible for several murders, including that of the pregnant Sharon Tate and Leno and Rosemary LaBianca. While Manson never took part in the physical murders, he was
Charles Manson was the leader and founder of the cult the Manson Family or The Family, a group of people well known for being serial killers in the late 1960’s. It was believed that they were associated with cult-quasi-religious groups, that came about in the 1960’s and they are still here today. They believe they know what the future of the planet is, when it will end, and how. In a biography of Charles Manson and the Manson Family it said this, “In August 1969 a series of Hollywood murders were to shock the world and tarnish the 60’s free love and peace legacy.”(Biography Channel 2013.) Charles Manson himself never committed any murders with his own hands, but the murders were committed under his order by several of his most obedient
In the 1960’s, Manson gathered hundreds of followers which he called “The Family.” They lived on a deserted ranch. Most of Manson’s followers were impressionable young females and he used LSD and amphetamines to help manipulate and convince them to act out his wishes. He slowly broke down his follower’s beliefs and made them believe that he was Jesus and that a race war was impending. Eventually Manson’s most loyal followers carried out his acts of violence and left seven people dead. In 1969, police raided the ranch on suspicions of vandalism, unaware of the murders committed until after the arrests. Charles Manson has been labeled “The Icon of Evil.” (Rosenberg, 2009)
Charles Manson became known worldwide after helping commit numerous gruesome murders near Hollywood, California. Although, Manson’s legal troubles did not start from that point, he had been in and out of institutions and prisons since the age of twelve, for many different reasons. “For, let out of prison in 1967, the year of ‘the summer of love,’ he became the most hated and vilified figure in America, a symbol of everything that had gone wrong in the ‘60s” (Smith). Even though his release from prison was short lived, he managed to do a lot of damage during his time of freedom. Manson received a life sentence in May of 1970 for the nine murders he helped execute (Baughman). Charles Manson is a well recognized name across the United States.
The two perspectives that seem to best explain the life of Charles Manson are sociocultural and behavioral. The behavioral perspective represents learned behaviors. At an early age Manson was around drugs, drinking, and prostitution. Naturally Manson learned that these things were ok. His mother was a prostitute that wanted nothing to do with her son; she also had a drug problem. Manson grew up in and out of prison and developed a drug and alcohol problem. Manson could not have a functioning relationship, his first wife left him due to him being in and out of jail. Manson second wife was a prostitute and divorced Manson after he was arrested for pimping, stealing, and conning. After being released from prison Manson headed to San Francisco where he played guitar. Manson began to develop followers. Manson developed a need for followers, he and his followers moved to a ranch and soon it became a cult compound for “the family.” The consequences of Manson’s actions were reinforced each time he was thrown into prison but let right back out, or each time he was allowed probation. He was able to commit the crimes knowing he would just be back in jail and shortly
Though not much is known about Van Eyck during his earlier life. It is said that he either decided after a while to go to art school after being influenced by his brother Herbert van Eyck. Another thought is while growing up with his brother Herbert, he decided to learn art but it is thought that he did not have enough money for art school so he spent many years studying under his brother. The main reason that Van Eyck became an artist way that he grew up with around 5 brothers and 5 sisters and all of them were artists so that's the most likely reason he became an artist.
The payment model devised in the study addresses the cost of psychiatric care for long-term patients. The type of facility, length of stay, diagnosis, and treatment and resources used during care affect the average cost of psychiatric care. The cost of services for mentally ill patients in long-term, chronic care decreased. Initial costs are so high due to the number of resources needed during acute-care; however, as patients require care for longer periods of time, resource needs declines, which in turn causes daily costs to decline. The average cost of the first day of care is approximately $140 while the one-hundredth day of care is approximately $40. After one hundred days in psychiatric care, the total cost would average about $6,000 2.
These are some of the most infamous names in the history of murder, but they hid in plain sight, and Manson did not even commit murder. He was so manipulative he could convince others to do his bidding for him. How is that even possible? Surely one would be able to recognize someone who is such a dangerous threat or would they? One of the reasons these killers can be so successful is their ability to blend into their surroundings and at times even be considered a stand up member of the communities they live in, but what is going on inside their brains?
Charles Manson had a way of picking up on people’s weaknesses and fears, and used it against them. He preyed on vulnerability and, as Linda James said, he offered them wealth and perfect relationships (Fennel, 1993). And, although his claims were extraordinary, he was able to attract a good amount of followers.
Gender is quite a common phenomenon in society, which it has been the conflict issue and the most vital theme to Edgar Allan Poe. Fundamentally, most scenes in the novel illustrates how much women are cagey, secretive and shadowy, for instance, saying that Madame L’Espanaye tells fortunes, smells Tabasco and snuffs, unknown women and never met any person in her home. In contrast, displaying men in the image of logic and have nothing to hide. Edgar Allan Poe shows that men are understood as logical members of society, whereas women are mysterious.
There is no doubt that the results of a rampage can be tragic, But the media tends to exploit the drama and leave out the context.Aside from the group of severely ill individuals, multiple studies have shown that mental illness alone does Not incline a person to violence.
