Why do we hear so much about the bad leaders, but so little about the good ones? That’s because none of our leaders are perfect, but what makes a good leader? A good leader is someone who is honest, decisive under pressure, and can give confidence in times of distress. Many leaders in our world, or in fictional worlds, show that these qualities prove most important. An honest person is someone who does not lie, and is not afraid of telling people the whole truth. As said by Michael Bunting, “Honesty is a leader’s most valuable leadership quality; it serves as the gateway for trust and inspiration” ( Journal of business ethics, 113). This is very true, if a leader is dishonest it is very hard to trust anything they say or do. Of real world leaders, we don’t honesty a lot, but US President Jimmy Carter definitely had honest qualities. Jimmy Carter was arguably the most honest US president. While his honesty cost him his 2nd term in office, it also saved us from a war in Iran (Frank). Many lives and lots money would’ve gone into a war, and so this shows that honesty was truly the best thing in this situation. Another example of honesty would be how the main character of Zootopia, Judy Hopps, wasn’t afraid of telling people off. When Nick touched the sheep’s wool, which was referencing to something that “black women and men famously deal with all the time” (Kois), Judy was quick to tell him that what he was doing was considered rude. Another trait I find necessary in a worthy
Being a leader is an important position to fulfill because not everyone carries leadership qualities. In order to become a good leader, this person must obtain specific qualities which should come to them naturally. However every good leader still needs to work on their qualities to become an even greater leader which may require a long time of work. Being a good leader can be hard because not everyone is going to agree with the decisions being made. Every good leader should have certain qualities that will help them succeed in every situation. A good leader should qualities such as being passionate and motivated in everything they do, to have patience when working with others, and to be fearless.
Leadership, as you should know is a very important role in society. Without it all of society and everyone in it would probably crumble. No more inspirations, abolitionists, presidents, or really anything. There can be good leaders, malicious leaders, greedy leaders, and even inspiring leaders. But the question is; what makes a good leader and who is an excellent role model on this subject?
Although he was the 39th president, between the years 1955-1962 he lead the Board of Education of Sumter County in the state of Georgia. Carter also was a teacher for Sunday school at his church and served as the governor of Georgia as a Democrat. While holding the position as a governor, Carter managed to discredit prejudice and later was named a “dark horse contender” for the Democratic vice presidential nomination in 1972. During the presidential campaign, the economy was not in much of good condition. The rate of unemployment and inflation were both high and there was a dishonest foreign policy (Ribuffo). When Carter started his 2 year presidency campaign he chose the senator of Minnesota, Walter F. Mondale, to be
Jimmy Carter was the 39th president of the United States of America. He was born in Plains Georgia on October 1, 1924. Jimmy Carters father; James Earl Carter Sr, was a peanut farmer who owned his own small plot of land, warehouse and store. His Mother, Lillian Carter worked as a registered nurse. Jimmy Carters Parents were very religious and they went to Plains Baptist Church.
A good leader is someone with certain characteristics that make them good at leading. For example, “If you were a chief you had to think, you had to be wise. And then the occasion slipped by so you had to grab at a
People who are courageous are able to achieve their goals, to stand up and to have their say in what is right and what is wrong. They might’ve made mistakes in life, but if they are willing to reach it, they will get up and try again, becoming stronger than ever at trying to pursue their goals.
Some qualities that make a good leader are; honesty, communication, confidence, commitment, intuition, the willingness to make sacrifices for those you lead, and being able to inspire those you are leading and keep morale
All of us have a natural leadership style within us. However, the way we go about displaying this natural leadership defines whether we are a good leader or not. A good leader is someone who helps teach, respect, and inspire the lives of individuals around them. Also, a good leader is someone who is not afraid to step up and take action when it is needed to be. As a result of stepping up and taking action, they are radiating the natural confidence and power that a good and strong leader should contain. In all, a good leader is someone who listens and cares about the lives of the individuals that surround them, and every action and decision they make is for the benefit of the greater good.
What qualities make great leaders? Well, to be a good leader, you have to be a good follower. Leaders are the people who are able to think and act under stress. They are the people who others look upon for guidance, support, and safety. There five important traits: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. To be self-aware is to understand the affect and impression one has on others. This leads to self-regulation, taking responsibility for actions and deeds. Effective leaders use motivation to drive others to accomplish a task by showing charisma and boosting morale. Common interest and bonds form within a team creating empathy for one another. And lastly, social
My mother always told me, ‘When the going gets tough, the tough get going.’ When times get rough it is important to not waste time sitting in self-pity, instead you need to take charge and change things for the better. I believe that being a good leader does not wait around just hoping, instead they make things happen. There are many elements that I believe make a good leader, but just being genuine and passionate towards a cause is what I believe is most important.
I believe that to be a good leader doesn’t necessarily define as someone who sets a goal and directs people to achieve it, but as someone who may have to adapt to change based off their surroundings and situations. A leader should be someone who is able to guide with not only direction but also logic, understanding, and an open mind. Oskar Schindler proved with continued leadership that even the most dismal situations may be able to change your values and based off those values change your actions and the direction in which you choose to lead and how you influence.
I believe a good leader is able to draw distinct clear lines when dealing with the people under her responsibility. I feel a good leader is approachable and yet still manages to maintain an authoritative stance. Often leaders tend to cross the line and become too friendly with the people they lead in a bid to gain popularity. However, from my work experience, when the leader tries to switch hats to being an authoritative figure it backfires. Which ultimately results in confusion amongst the group due to mixed signals and followers losing respect for the leader.
From research we see that there are many qualities that people value in leaders. Some of these qualities include: having high standards, supportive, inquisitive, involved, honest and having integrity. When I think about leadership I think of a person who is self-aware and always striving for improvement. To be a good leader you need to know how your personal biases may impact decision making in various situations. Bias or values can effect how you interact with those you come in contact with on a daily basis. A good leader can set the tone for students, staff, and parents by being consistent and clear in thoughts and in actions. The leader is the foundation of the building.
Being a good leader is done by making the correct choices and inspiring people to complete their tasks and work together as a team. In order to be a great leader you need to think outside the box and travel the road that is seldom or never traveled. A great leader will use their inspiration and determination to complete the tasks no matter what hurdles or problems they
A good leader needs to have many particular characteristics. Some of these are obvious, such as that they care about what you are doing and always puts you before themselves. Also another trait of a good leader is that they always keep promises they make. Some of the subtle attributes of a good leader are that they do not hide behind bad news. Moreover, they are easy people to talk to and they have a good if not excellent sense of humor.
