Ryan Gosling as Noah Calhoun - A young man falls in love with Allie the summer after graduating from high school.
Flat character – because from the beginning of the story until the end his love and feelings to Allie Hamilton didn’t change. Noah represents true love and true faith.
James Garner as Duke (Old Noah Calhoun) – The husband of Allie Hamilton and he is the narrator of the notebook.
Flat character – because he shows the same characteristics even if he suffers a lot of disease and Allie Hamilton did not recognize him, he still love her until the end.

Round character – because at first she love Noah Calhoun but when they
Noah Underwood is one of the main characters in Flush; He plays as the heroic son along with his little sister Abbey underwood; This all takes place in Key West, Florida in the early 2000s. It all starts off with his dad having a quite stubborn but caring personality. His father, Also known as the crazy man, decided to burn down a very large boat called the “Coral queen”. Why you ask? Well he knew that the boat was releasing feces into the ocean causing the ocean to be unsafe to swimmers and animals.
She is very illustrative and severe in her characterization. She states metaphorically how is his physical aspect, in one part she says: “some anomalous gene had fired up at the moment of his begetting as a single spark sometimes leaps from banked coils, had given him a giant’s chin”, in this sentence, she uses a cause and effect syntax to characterize his physical defects. This type of syntax causes a better understanding of his nature; an afflictive person that most of the time does not do anything to change. She describes how ugly he is and provokes an unpleasant perception of this character with the purpose to reveal the effects of a disturbed
She can also stand up for herself when there is a conflict. I can relate with her because I am usually really shy in the beginning, but I can get talkative if I’m with friends. While Rosa Hubermann usually calls Liesel out using swear words, and gets mad for no reason, but in the end those were her own ways of saying that she cares. I can compare myself to her because I can get annoyed and mad easily. Meanwhile Rudy Steiner, a young boy can take care of everyone, make people feel welcome, help others when there’s a problem, and he will even do anything to keep others happy. I can compare myself with some of these traits because I like to help others with things they do, for example, I help other people with homework and other projects. Death is also a character that I can relate to because he can experience sadness, joy and even depression. He looks for hope in the gathering, reading, and telling of stories, he also finds ways to give meaning to his work. I can relate to him because he is a hard worker, and even though his job is depressing he finds ways to make it
In Ashley Gilbertson’s “The Life and Lonely Death of Noah Pierce,” she talks with the family members and friends of veteran Noah Pierce to find out what led to Noah’s suicide following his service with the United States Army. It is believed that Noah’s experiences in Iraq attributed to him having post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and causing a change in his behavior during and after his service. Additionally in one of the letters to his mother detailing an engagement with enemy contacts and even though he claimed that he came unscathed with no bullet wounds or lost limbs, Noah admits to possibly having traumatic brain injury (TBI) because of that experience (Gilbertson). Exposure to the war environment in Iraq and the murders he committed had a direct impact on Specialist Noah Pierce in which it cultivated his aggressive behavior which caused numerous episodes that spiraled down to Noah committing suicide.
A- Arlo is a flat character because he only shows 2 emotions throughout the whole novel. The first of the two emotions is determination. Arlo shows determination throughout most of the novel when he is trying to make the Varsity squad and eventually go to play in the NFL.¨I was big and i was determined¨ (Lynch 17).
The Notebook is a story and how this boy and this girl met lost each other and then one another again.
In the movie The Notebook first released in 2004 that features actor Ryan Gosling and actress Rachel McAdams; Internet Movie DataBase (IMDB) best describes the plot by saying, “A poor yet passionate young man falls in love with a rich young woman, giving her a sense of freedom, but they are soon separated because of their social differences” (IMBd). At the start of the movie, an elderly man begins to read a love story from his notebook to a female patient. The love story takes place in 1940. He tells the story how Allie and Noah fall in love over a summer. Then, her parents disapprove of her seeing Noah. The two get into an argument and then decide to break up. The next day Allie is forced to go without saying goodbye to him, she later starts school in New York. Although Noah seemed fine when he left that night, he was devastated and ends up writing Allie a letter each day for a year. She never received the letters because of her mother. Noah ends up going to battle in WWII and Allie becomes a nurse for wounded soldiers. She ends up meets a more wealthy young man who later she becomes engaged to. Later, Allie reads in a
Noah Calhoun, played by Ryan Gosling, is a rural southerner who had fought in world war two after his beloved Ally had left him after their summer romance had come to an abrupt end. This film is set from Noah's point of view many years later after their love had been rekindled while "his" Ally is in a nursing home suffering from onset Alzheimer’s which is to whom he is
While watching the movie, there were many characters that played a magnificent role: Noah Calhoun, Allison “Allie” Hamilton, Fin and Sarah, Lon Hammond, Jr., Ann Hamilton, Frank Calhoun, John Hamilton, and Anne’s ex boyfriend. During the beginning of the movie, Duke, an elderly man, began to read a story to a elderly women named Allie. Allie had dementia and Duke (Noah) was determined to regain her memory of their love and life together. The story began where they first met each other; Noah saw Allie on the Farris wheel and knew she was the one. He jumped on the Farris wheel while it was still in motion and begged Allie on a date till she
The different descriptions and dialogues of Allie and Noah are what bring the change into their relationship. In the novel, Noah is described as a quiet and shy poet. “Although he was quiet, years of heavy lifting at the lumberyard helped him excel in sports, … An occasional person found him arrogant; most simply figured he had grown up a bit faster than everyone else.” (Sparks 24) Whereas in the film, Noah is very outgoing and confident. He does not stop until he gets what he wants. This is evident when Noah climbs on the ferris wheel and hangs from the bars at the carnival where he asks Allie to go out with him. She refuses and he blackmails her by making her think that he will fall down from such a height. Allie becomes frightened and agrees to go out with him, little did she know that this was his plan all along. The change in Noah’s description changes his personality and the way the audience views him as an individual character. Allie and Noah’s tone of dialogues are also changed to make them seem more modern. In the book, Allie agrees to spend time with Noah without any objection. “…the four of them stayed at the festival until the crowds were thin and everything closed up for the night. They met the following day, and the day after that, and they soon became inseparable.” (Sparks 13) This circumstance would not exist in today’s society as females have their personal preferences. This is seen in the movie when Allie plays ‘hard to get’ and rejects Noah several times when he reminds her of the date. “‘What are you doing tonight?’ … ‘Why?’ ‘Why? Our date.’ ‘What date?’ ‘The date that you agreed to.’ ‘No!’ ‘Yes, you did. You promised, and you swore it.’ ‘Well, I guess I changed my mind.’ … ‘Come on, one date. What's it gonna hurt?’ ‘Umm..I don't think so.’” (Cassavetes) Noah is also very understanding with Allie’s decision to leave him
The Notebook is a phenomenal film with incredible performances and many heartfelt moments from beginning to end. It is a love story that many of us fantasize of living someday. The story unfolds in recent times at a Nursing home with the introduction of an elderly lady (Gena Rowlands) who is being visited by an old man, known as Duke (James Garner), who also resides in the nursing home, and he's there to read her a story. He begins to read about a young girl named Allie (Rachel McAdams) who was visiting a cousin one summer in the late 1940s. Allie was a beautiful teenage girl who eventually caught the eye of Noah (Ryan Gosling), her cousin's boyfriend's best friend. Initially, she showed no interest in Noah, considering the fact
The main characters in The Notebook include: Allie, Noah, Allie's parents, and Noah’s father. Allie is a young city girl, who comes from a wealthy family, who spend their summer vacation in Seabrook, where Noah is from. Noah is a young country boy, who comes from a poor family. Noah and Allie meet through mutual friends, and end up
The love story between two different teenagers that come from completely different worlds is the most remarkable. The Notebook is about two young teenagers who fell head over heels with each other. They got separated by Allie’s upper-class parents who insist that Noah isn’t right for her. But that obstacle didn’t stop these two young lovers from being together even if it took years. This beautiful tale has a special meaning to an older gentleman who regularly reads the timeless love story to his aging wife to help her remember what they went through and that the story that he’s reading to her was their love story. The story he reads follows two young
The first positive characteristic of the film is the Acting and the Characters. The actors/actresses in the film did an astounding job portraying the characters of the story. They went unfathomable into the roles of the characters and add emotion and appeal to them. Sandra Bullock, with Quinton Aaron makes it convincing that she is Mrs.Tuohy and that he is Michael Oher. Even though those two were the ones provide emotional appeal, the other cast masts all add something independently. The father, Mr. Tuohy, exhibited the role of a positive male figure, who is supportive of everything that his family is involved in. Collins signifies the role of the average American adolescent. She plays sports, has
I agree with you that both Mrs. Popov and Mr. Smirnov are round characters. A round character, according to our book, is the protagonist of a story or play, who is three-dimensional rounded, authentic, memorable, original and true to life. A round character is the center of our attention and is both individual and unpredictable. A round character profits from experience and in the course of a story or play undergoes change or development (page 1941). They both go through a change in my opinion. Mrs. Popov goes from wanting to lock herself up in the four walls of her house to loving Smirnov. Smirnov hates woman, thinking they are all the same to loving Mrs. Popov.
