I have had the privilege of knowing Jennifer, watching her grow and mature over the course of three years. One of those years as her Varsity Water Polo coach, and when your sport requires morning practice at 5:30am on top of afternoon practices, as well as tournaments on the weekends the hours spent together quickly add up. Water Polo gave me the opportunity to see so many different sides of Jen. Her most vibrant traits are her compassion and belief in others as well as her drive to constantly improve and accomplish the goals she sets for herself. Jennifer’s compassion and belief in her teammates, especially came to the forefront when at an away tournament. At a team bonding, in one of the girl’s hotel room, our captains asked Jen to lead
Hearing all the trouble they went through and how much money it cost for the team to be able to go to the tournaments revealed how much the staff does for the team. When the booster club president told everyone, the tournaments were going to cost two thousand dollars for each tournament we went to they all gasped in shock. When the president said we needed chaperons for the tournament everyone was more than willing to help. The staffs’ willingness to help no matter what shows just how much they care for the team.

Isabelle was moved up to softball and Addison was still in lob ball. Addison started out amazingly and continued throughout the season to get progressively better. Isabelle started out great and slowly went downhill, even though the coach she had was far superior to Addison’s coach. The team Isabelle was on was filled with kids that were on traveling teams and had been playing for years; this was only her second year. All the kids on her team were outstanding and Isabelle couldn’t keep up.
The Lady Mustang volleyball team has the expectation bar set pretty high this year. Having only graduated one senior, the volleyball team consists of a lot of returning players from last year, whose hopes for this season are even higher than last. When asked what this season has in store for the lady mustangs, senior Bay Brunson commented, “I’m looking forward the making lots of memories for my senior year. I want to enjoy every minute of this season! I love being a role model to the younger girls and enjoy developing relationships with each of my teammates on and

When basketball season came around, things started to shift gears. Stargirl, now on the cheerleading squad, was cheering not only for Mica High, but for the opposing team as well. Coincidentally, Mica High’s basketball team was on a winning streak. At the end of the regular season, they were undefeated. Everyone at Mica High thought they were going to win the state championship, but in the tournament, they lost.
Vanden High School hasn’t had a good record of winning anything. For Sarah to join a football team that has teammates that don’t want her to play, is very hard for her. “This is a man’s game”-p27. Sarah has three competitive brothers who
That type of attitude has certainly worked with her teammates as they look up to her as a role model and as someone who will push each player in the team in being the best they can be.
Kaitlynn Wiltraut, co-captain of the women’s lacrosse team, watched Fitzsimmons work to learn the new position throughout the course of the season. Wiltraut had this to say about her teammate. “Emily is willing to put forth a lot of effort. She’s working hard, and she’s getting a lot better,” said Wiltraut.
This poem consists of two stanzas, with a large amount of representations and viewpoints. The two types of views used for this poem used pretty evenly throughout are first and third person. Poe does an appreciable job of using visual imagery and some great representation. He shows that the sand that's slipping through his fingers is similar to an hourglass with the sand constantly falling and time just continues passing no matter what's going on in the world. Through his words, he does a tremendous job connecting the first and third person stanza which ultimately feel like two completely different moods, but he still makes them feel entirely connected throughout his
I saw in his eyes sheer delight and the joy of accomplishment. He had successfully faced a pitcher older and bigger and had fought off pitch after pitch before knocking a single into left field. His base hit drove in a run, continued an inning and fueled a rally which brought the team a victory from what looked like a certain defeat. He was willing to be taught and was willing to try. Success was secondary to the life skills he was mastering. Character traits will certainly be developed as one participates in team sports, but to attain positive character traits will require deliberate efforts by parents, adults, teammates and even leaders of the organization itself.
I first started playing volleyball at a very young age. I was in the seventh grade when my volleyball career started. My sister started playing in the seventh grade and I just wanted to follow her footsteps. My seventh grade year was ok because I had just started out and really didn’t know the game. There was A team and a B team, where A team was better than the B team. I tried my best to be on the A-team, but guess where I ended up, on the B team.

"One who plays a sport fairly and loses gracefully" is how The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines sportsmanship. What is a sportsman? The definition seems to have undergone a big change over the years.
With the opportunity of a fresh start in front of us, I believe now is the time to make the changes this program needed five plus seasons ago. My first year on the team was both very exciting and intimidating. It couldn’t have been more than two days into the season before I was taken under the wing of senior captain Laura. She began to teach me the ropes of the program I would dream of leading myself one day. As a new captain, Laura explained to me her goals as a leader and what she hoped to bring to the Prior Lake Girls’ Hockey Team. As I look back to the very beginning of my high school hockey career, I have yet to see this team achieve the goals Laura set that year. What I will write about is what I have learned what makes some leaders more successful than other, and why
