I chose the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling because I’d been wanting to read the Harry Potter series for a while and finally got around to it this year. It was that and that two of my close friends are huge fans of it and had been nagging since forever to read the books. The Chamber of Secrets opens up with Ron and Harry being shut out of King’s Cross Station and being forced to take Arthur Weasley’s enchanted car to Hogwarts, that goes a bit wonky as it crashes into the Whomping Willow but the pair avoid having house points taken by telling McGonagall that technically the term hasn’t started. After that fiasco the semester goes on like usual for the most part until Mrs. Norris (the custodian’s cat) gets petrified and can’t move or do anything except for automatic functions like breathe. It escalates from there with students from every house minus Slytherin’s having one petrified muggle-born. Eventually Hermione becomes petrified as well and on one of Harry and Ron’s visits to her they see that she had left them a clue, a …show more content…
This conflict is solved at the end of the novel when his spell backfires and he has his memory wiped. Another major conflict is when the chamber of secrets is opened and people begin getting petrified by the basilisk, this conflict is resolved when Harry kills the basilisk with Godric Gryffindor’s sword. One of the minor conflicts is the diary Tom Riddle owns taking over Ginny and making her do his bidding, from killing chicken to opening the chamber itself, this conflict is resolved for her when she tries to dispose of it but begins again when Harry finds it and writes to it instead. The conflict is finally resolved when Harry defeats the basilisk and destroys the diary with venom from its
The book starts with the students, Harry, Ron, and, Hermione going back to Hogwarts after summer vacation. Voldemort is free and is wreaking havoc throughout the wizarding world. Dumbledore has a plan, but first he must inform Harry of Voldemort’s past. Throughout the story the trio finds out who the half-blood prince is and discover ways to defeat Voldemort. His soul is connected to his Horcruxes. By destroying Voldemort’s Horcruxes they are destroying parts of his soul, which is the only way to defeat him. Harry believes that Snape is working for Voldemort, but no one believes him.
Soon after entering Hogwarts, Harry must face a road of trials which will eventually lead him to achieve his unlikely treasure. While roaming the halls after curfew, Harry receives detention in the forbidden forest, and comes face to face with the Dark Lord. Other obstacles come to place when Harry travels down the trap door into the chambers; such as devil’s snare, a human wizard’s chess game, and the room of keys (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone). The series of tests make Harry’s mission difficult; however, the knowledge he gains from the unsuccessful trials bring him closer to his main goal. These minor bumps in Harry’s journey strengthen him emotionally and physically, readying him to defeat the traitor at the end of his succession of tests. Unexpectedly, the betrayal comes from the quivering Professor Quirrell who voluntarily gives up his body to the Dark Lord. Harry sees himself in the mirror and realizes he is magically in possession of the Sorcerer’s Stone. Shortly

The three books by J.K. Rowling, which are at the top of the New York Times best-seller list, chart the course of 11-year-old Harry, who learns of his famous wizard-family past and is invited to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
He finally felt like he belonged. Harry still assumed a gut fear of Voldemort along with everyone else. One night Harry served detention in the Forbidden forest, while doing this Harry noticed a sharp pain in his forehead, Harry thought it meant danger’s near by. Harry said something in the woods, he followed the noise. When he arrived a dark hooded figure sucking the blood from a unicorn. The only people to suck blood from a unicorn need to build up strength. Harry got a very bad suspicion that Voldemort’s who feed from the unicorn to regain power.
The two books that I choose is The Adventure of Tom Sawyer and Trash. The Adventure of Tom Sawyer was an adventurous book. It also had a crime scene. The Adventure Of Tom Sawyer was an Adventurous book, because Tom and his friend Huckleberry Finn went to a graveyards to cure warts and they also went to a haunted house. Each time they went to the graveyard and haunted house, they saw the murderer. They both were scared because they told about the murderer in the court. In Trash, it was an adventurous book and also had a crime scene. Trash is an adventurous book, because they were three trash boys that found a bag that they police had. They had to run away from the police and they met many new people on the way and learnt about Jose Angelico. The crime scene was when Raphael, one of the Trash boys, was in jail because the police found out he had the bag and he won’t surrender it. Both of these book are fiction. Both of the book, really got my attention. I really loved the book so much. I read it five times.
Harry wasn’t sure when he first noticed her. It always seemed to him, at least in his mind, that she simply appeared in a brilliant flash of light. Forever changing him and the way he saw the world.
The book that I chose was “ The Outsiders”, because is a classic book and its fiction. The author is Susan E. Hington; she wrote the book when she was 16 years old in the 1950´s. The book was one of the best sellers books it was published in 1967 and it won a lot of awards for example the New York Herald Tribune Best Teenage Books List, 1967, they made movies about it and plays in schools about it, now the book is still being sold as a young adults book .
I have read numerous delightful books by a variety of amazing authors. These books span from the genres of Action and Adventure, Mystery, Romance, and Comedy, some of the titles include: Harry Potter: The Order of the Phoenix, The Help, Bridge to Terabithia, Beloved, The Color Purple, and To Kill a Mockingbird. In my opinion these books all have their great qualities which make them a great read, although I must say if I were to recommend one book out of the group, I would definitely say read To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
I chose the book Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs for my IR summative because I thought a book the includes action, fantasy, and drama is very exciting. This whole book was filled with action from the beginning to all the way to the end so people who like action would love this book a lot. Fantasy combined with the action making the story a little bit more dramatic and most of the characters had some sort of ability such as healing wounds using their own body, controlling fire, or being able to fly. Drama added the story reality making the whole story seem more realistic such as family issues, romance, and blood related enemies.
I chose the book Tale of Despereaux. The reason why is quite simple. I love this book and I always have. This book, I feel like, has always understood, that is if books could understand, and I have always had a deep connection with it and its characters. I have read this book several hundred times and it will never ever get old to me. I could read it when I’m fifty. This was my favorite book back in the day, and now because of this assignment, I get to read it once more! I will never and can never forget this book.
When Harry arrives at Hogwarts, he and the other first-years follow Hagrid into a giant castle. Harry and the other first years meet a strict Hogwarts teacher who tells them that they will be sorted into houses. These houses, she said, will be like your family-you will earn points for your house by triumphing, as lose points for trouble-making. They are told that they will be sorted into the houses depending on how well they do on a test. They are left to wait in silence. Suddenly a bunch of ghosts burst through the wall, talking, and see the students. They greet the students kindly and tell them they hope to see them in their old house. Based upon the talk of the kids, there is a bad house, Slytherin, that all bad wizards got into, even Voldemort.
My favorite book currently is ‘The Great Gatsby’ by F. Scott. Fitzgerald. Even though this was a very complicated and difficult novel to read, I thought the way Fitzgerald wrote this novel was one like no other. The complicated relationship between Jay and Daisy is so intriguing to understand and grasp as a reader. Also the 1920’s was one of the most epic times in history, and since this book was based on the time of the “Roaring 20’s” it was fascinating to get a look inside the lives of the rich and the poor. His use of unique diction and all different types of syntaxes is what I believe keeps readers loving his novels. Most literature novels are hard to create a well understanding of, or keep interest in, although I think the plot line of
October comes around which brings lots of rain. Quidditch practice continues and one night when Harry is walking through the castle, he sees Nick, a gryffindor ghost. Nick is looking sad and Harry asks why, just to be told he has been rejected from the headless hunt because his head ncant come all the way off. The conversation is short, because Mrs. Norris sees them, and Nick tells Harry to leave, so he doesnt get in trouble for bringing in mud. Harrys caught and brought to the office, he was writing a punishment, but is interrupted by a loud noise. When hes gone Harry looks into an open envelope on the desk and finds something called a Kwikspell for wizards who arent full magic. He puts it back before Filch returns, but he notices the envelope
Snape quickly covers his leg when he sees Harry looking. Harry’s hero complex now begins to show as he becomes determined to find out what Snape is hiding. The Ordeal that Harry faces leaves him unable to think of anything but the mirror of Erised, which has captured his full attention. He stumbles upon the mirror as he hides from Snape and Filch, but sees his parent in the mirror and becomes so entranced he can’t think of anything else. Harry has to overcome a great ordeal of emotion turmoil in order to get his mind back on track, demonstrating great self-control. Harry’s journey descends into the abyss as he suffers a detention in the forbidden forest. He meets Voldemort but is saved by a Centaur, he finds that Voldemort wants the stone and feels like he must protect
