The Effects of Wasting Your Life Away on Netflix
Netflix. Some might say that it is God's gift to humanity. Of course, if an individual doesn't believe in God they may just call it a really good invention. Either way, Netflix rocks. It has become a normal and everyday part of life, with more and more people abandoning their lives of cable tv in favor of streaming. But, having a subscription to Netflix may not always be such a great thing. All good things come with repercussions, after all. The worst onesa are declining quality of work, declining quality of life and loss of friends. Is it really all worth it?
The important thing to ask is why people watch Netflix in the first place. Maybe a friend told you about a new show that you just have to watch. Maybe you're bored and have nothing better to do. Maybe you're sick and can't do anything else but watch Netflix. Maybe it's a little treat for yourself a long day of work or school. Netflix is a like a gateway to new worlds and stories that distract you from the drivel of everyday life. Or...is Netflix more like a gateway...drug? The side effects of this said "drug" can be troublesome. The worst part is you may not even realize that you are falling victim to any of it.
The first effect of watching too much Netflix is a decline in the quality of your work. That report due to your boss tomorrow? Forgotten. Your essay assigned for English that you've had weeks to write? Written the
The American economy underwent a tremendous economic transformation between the years of 1790 and 1860. The economic growth can be associated with a number of factors; for instance, changes in transportation, communications, and agricultural production. Therefore, the American traders reaped a huge profit from trade due to the improved communication, agricultural systems, and transport system because they could carry out business without any difficulties and this led to the growth of the American economy.
The downturn of the economy has taken away many peoples disposable income and Netflix’s limited online library may have caused customers to question if it was worth it or not.
24% of teenagers say that they go online “almost constantly” everyday according to a study from the Pew Research Center. In our society today, adults, teens, and children are always using some form of technology. Technology can be used for important purposes such as school or work. Other times technology only serves as a distraction from what really matters in life. We get very attached to technology and that can become a problem. In Fahrenheit 451, the main character Montag is a firemen who is trained to destroy books because the society’s government thinks that books are dangerous because they cause conflict. In place of books, many people use parlor wall TVs as their entertainment. The screens on the parlor walls serve as an unhealthy distraction.
Hours after Pearl Harbor was bombed by Japan, gaining worldwide headlines, giving millions unanswered questions, the speech, Pearl Harbor Address to the Nation was given one day after the event. On December 8th 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt gave a speech to be remembered today, by using rhetorical devices and figurative language to strongly picture his message to the public, making great use of parallel structure, personification, parallelism, and climax ordering to enforce his key point of wanting Americans to stand up against the Japanese forces for the deliberate actions done towards there peaceful country, with no threat or hint of war or of an armed attack. With hopes of gathering support for the decision to declare war on Japan.
The video rental industry began with brick and mortar store that rented VSH tape. Enhanced internet commerce and the advent of the DVD provided a opportunity for a new avenue for securing movie rentals. In 1998 Netflix headquartered in Los Gatos California began operations as a regional online movie rental company. While the firm demonstrated that a market for online rentals existed, it was not financially successfully. Netflix lost over $11 million in 1998 and as a result significantly changed the business model in 2000. The new strategy included focusing on becoming a nationally based subscription model and focusing on enhancing the subscribers experience on their website. The change in

Another reason Netflix is way better than Netflix, is that they do not have commercials/ads. People can sit around at home and binge watch their show without any interruptions. When a person is watching their favorite show and getting really into it, they do not have to be interrupted by a commercial for baby’s diapers. They do not have to wait two minutes of the same commercial playing over and over every commercial break.

Another lifestyle that some end users may have is the one which are fans of some movies/series genre, they love to watch some specific genre and that is where the Netflix service is based upon.
This topic has become controversial. Will Netflix kill TV? Netflix seeks to reprogram America. So, what will happen to the mass culture if it succeeds? As you can see, Netflix affects our culture in so many different ways, and it’s not something many people realize. Mentally, emotionally, socially, academically, and your health. It also affects the internet and media, the economy, TV, cable companies, and other businesses. Netflix has advanced in many ways, as well as TV in general. It is so convenient and in a way addicting, so it is hard to realize how much it affects us and our
Many of their competitors have longer operating histories, larger customer bases, greater brand recognition and significantly greater financial, marketing and other resources than Netflix does. Some of their competitors have adopted, and may continue to adopt, aggressive pricing policies and devote substantially more resources to marketing and Web site and systems development than Netflix does. The rapid growth of their online entertainment subscription business since their beginning may attract direct competition from larger companies with significantly greater financial resources and national brand recognition. For instance in 2003 the extremely wealthy Wal-Mart used their online site to launch an online DVD subscription service, Wal-Mart DVD Rentals. With increased competition reduced operating margins may result as well as a loss of market share and reduced revenues. In addition, our competitors may form or extend strategic alliances with studios and distributors that could adversely affect our ability to obtain titles on favorable terms.
Binge watching also referred to as binge-viewing or marathon-viewing is watching television or a single television show for a long time span. It has become a very popular cultural phenomenon because of the online media services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon video. Viewers can also watch television shows and movies on-demand in a binge-viewing manner with cable and satellite services such as Time Warner Cable, Dish Network, and DirecTV. Movie apps and Amazon Fire TV stick also make binge watching adaptable. These companies offer their patrons their services at very affordable prices and therefore making it that much more convenient. Entire seasons of shows such as Orange Is the New Black and House of Cards are just two of the many shows viewers can indulge in. Other shows that are shown on television and not released at the same time, such as Breaking Bad and Undercover Boss can be found on Netflix and encourages binge watching. Binge watching has changed the relationship between the series and its audience in many different ways such as giving the viewer total control to choose when and where and for how long he or she wants to view the show.
