Violence has created a lot of destruction all around the world. There is terrorism, shootings, sexual assault, and many more kinds of violence. All around the world newspapers, television broadcasts, magazines and the media report various acts of violence and it is really disturbing to see and hear about the crimes that are being committed on a day to day. According to the American Psychological Association violence is defined as an extreme form of aggression, such as assault, rape or murder. Many individuals justify using violence as a result of their needs not being met. Earle Leonard Nelson who was also known as “The Gorilla Killer” or “The Dark Strangler”, was America’s first known serial killer. He killed approximately 25 females by first gaining their trust and then strangling them to death. After killing his victims, he usually engaged in sexual intercourse with their bodies and hid their bodies under their beds. At the age of 10 Earle collided with a street car which caused him to remain unconscious for six days. The collision caused a severe head injury that when he finally gained consciousness his behavior quickly made him unrecognizable. Frontal Lobe Impairment & Treatment One possible cause that best explains his behavior would have to be frontal lobe impairment.
