Greeting Sorors The Perot Museum has a new volunteers manager and social outreach has been added to the scope of responsibilities. So Thursday night we stated talking about the Junior League relationship with the museum and the next thing I know we are taking about how he would like to get to get more African American organization involved. I told I could possible help with that but, before we reach out to all the D9's I wanted to get my sorority involved first. The relationship would be with our chapter as a whole which would include our auxiliaries of volunteering age (14 and above). I just want to verify whos contact information to would I provide. Please let me know so I can provide the information to
Festival was brought to you by the dedication of Shinnecock museum staff and volunteers, the generousity of our donors, and the support of the Village of Southampton.
The Heard Museum conveys the life and culture of Native Americans in the Southwest, with the help of pre-Colombian to contemporary art and a variety of traditional artifacts. Something that caught my eye was Rosie Yellowhair’s “Emergency Story” sandpainting. It depicts the Navajo creation story and how there were five worlds and what made the people move from the first world to the next. I thought that this was interesting because in class we talked about creation stories about Native Americans and I found those intriguing. So, seeing this sandpainting and knowing that its purpose was to tell its story of creation was astonishing because I’ve never seen a sandpanting that depicted a creation story.
The Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989 damaged the old de Young museum building located in Golden Gate Park and uncovered severe seismic flaws in the building and hence a comprehensive plan to rebuild the building in stages was overtaken to make the de Young museum up to date. In January 1999 the Swiss firm Herzog & de Meuron were chosen to rebuild the De young museum, due to their willingness to engage in an extended process of architectural design and also because their prior work demonstrated a drive to explore new building solutions for each client. Each of Herzog & de Meuron’s prior buildings were known for their strikingly different façade treatments and the use of uncommon
Perhaps illness so influenced the artistic style of Van Gogh, but the picture turned out completely different to all that the artist wrote so far. This is not a Van Gogh, who was known. In the canvas, there is tension, anxiety, dense colors and warm shades of olive-mustard. On the contrary, here there is some kind of lightness, airiness, and transparent weightlessness. On the manner of execution, the pattern resembles Japanese prints: iris field full of peace, a lightness, and transparency. "Irises" are simple and unique, they are striking in their serenity and the ability to remove the internal stress of everyone who saw at least reproduction. Painting simply breathes watercolor, translucency and make to look at it more than one hour.
For chapter 1 I think a proper title would be “A Museum” because the chapter is when Gene goes back to Devon in 15 years and he calls it “a museum”. Gene walks around the school and it reminds him of his time there and everything that happened. When he gets to the tree he has a flashback about one night when they jumped from the tree into the river. The flashback and places he sees and visits reminds him of the past like a museum that reminds us of the past through artifacts. Therefore, I think the title “A Museum” would be a proper title for Chapter 1.
For this essay, we were required to go to the Getty Villa in Malibu and look for specific works of art in the J. Paul Getty Museum. The Getty Villa is on a hill adjacent to Malibu beach and requires a reservation to get inside. They do not allow pedestrian entrances, so I had to take public transportation and show proof of my Metro bus receipt to get in. Once inside, I took a shuttle up a curvy hill to the actual museum. When I got to the actual entrance, I was taken aback by how beautiful not only the view was, but the Villa was as well. It did not take me long to find the five artworks.
When a museum has prestige on a national level, they can be under high scrutiny of exhibits or objects displayed by the public. Controversial topics, for example, the Enola Gay exhibit, has left historians hesitant and confused on how to create exhibits with correct history, but also not upsetting any individual who were involved with said history. Historians have a trying task of addressing both sides of a historical event, even though it might depict individuals in an unflattering way. A historian is not allowed to have a bias for events, this could have an impact on the way an exhibit is created. Another point that was brought to light in Bunch’s article was museums have the ability to educate the public, so difficult topics should not be
Metropolitan Museum of Art, I’ve observed many interesting paintings, sculptures, and artifacts. The exhibits I chose to write about was the tomb of Perneb because it is the only thing I remember the most when I know that I have to focus on Mesopotamia or Egypt. Mastaba Tomb of Perneb was original came from the period of Old Kingdom, Egypt that located in the Egyptian necropolis at Saqqara. It was discovered in 1907, purchased from the Egyptian government in 1913 and given to the Metropolitan Museum of Art by Edward S. Harkness. Perneb was a court official in the royal household who had a role in the robing and crowning of the king; his tomb was attached to the larger tomb of the vizier Shepsesre, who may have been Perneb’s father. When

Paul Getty Museum will leave you feeling enriched as you visit exhibits such as Photography in Argentina or Giovanni Bellini: Landscapes of Faith in Renaissance Venice. The Fowler Museum on UCLA's campus will give you an opportunity to observe the craftsmanship of silversmiths when you visit the exhibit Reflecting Culture: The Francis E. Fowler, Jr. Collection of Silver. Go hiking, horseback riding, catch a movie and see late iconic western movie actor Will Roger's ranch home overlooking the ocean at Will Rogers State Beach. Before walking into The Brooklyn Museum, I didn’t know what to anticipate as I do not identify as a frequent museum visitor. However, soon after stepping inside this massive gallery I learned that this museum is one of the largest art museums in the United States and one of the premier art institutions in the world. I immediately got lost walking up and down the floors of this massive museum visiting every culture and gaining appreciation and taste of what life like was thousands of years ago. Through this experience of going to the museum, I gained a much bigger knowledge base and understanding of ancient cultures through permanent collections include a wide range of objects from ancient Egyptian masterpieces and ancient African masterpieces to contemporary art, representing almost every culture in the world. After viewing all the cultures in their galleries, I gravitated towards the Ancient African and Egyptian Cultures. The reason why i choose these cultures moreover then the other cultures was because I found these two cultures to be the most distinctive, unique, and important cultures. Two particular pieces I was particularly interested and inspired by was the Helmet Mask (African Culture) and the blank. Through these ancient culture collections, I learned how distinct each culture was and how cultures intertwined and influenced each other.
Theta Tau is a very organized group of Professional Engineers. They effectively plan and promote numerous events to improve themselves and their community. In order to continue this, like any organization, they are dependant on the number of its members. If and when I become a member of Theta Tau, I wish to become the Recruitment Chair as to influence more people to want to become potential Brothers.
The subject of an art work along with the technique are the first things that draw attention to it, but how the work is curated by the museum is a hidden factor with significant impact to how the piece is viewed by the audience. It would be very distracting to have a dark medieval work placed on a bright pink wall because of the color contrast. This could take away greatly from a majestic piece. On the other hand, a museum can also arrange works in a specific order and compliment works extremely well with the environment they set up the exhibit in. One example of this is seen in The Pre-Raphaelite Legacy at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The Metropolitan’s placement of the exhibit along with implementing a very solemn
From the start I have found the subject of crime, business, and politics in Chicago to be fascinating, and taking this class has broadened my knowledge and understanding of the way Chicago has and continues to function in the pursuit of money. One of my earliest memories that piqued my interest in the class was the trip to the Chicago History Museum on the South end of Lincoln Park. I found the portion of the trip where we were on the second floor of the museum and exploring how Chicago grew from a small hustler’s town to the booming metropolis that it is now was incredible. I especially liked the portion dedicated to the people who brought major change to the city such as Hugh Hefner bringing about the rise of a sexual revolution in the city

During my time at Get Acquainted Day, I spoke with several organizations. The first organization I spoke with was the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Most of the Zeta’s are currently students at Central Michigan and celebrating 11th chapter! Now this wasn’t my first time speaking with the Zeta’s, I met with these women during the IMPACT program and I also came in touch with them at Main Stage. Immediately when I walked to their table they were full of excitement and recognized me from the previous times I spoke with them. Something that I learned new about the women of Zeta Phi Beta is that they were first of many sororities to collaborate with another organization; the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity . Together they have worked on various of community service projects, local activities and share a brother and sisterhood bond like no other.
