Before visiting the Hospital for Special Care Adaptive Sports Program in New Britain, I did not realize all the hard work that goes into working in the adaptive sports program. At first I thought the adaptive sports program was for people who had difficulties playing sport and nothing more. However, after visiting the site, I was completely wrong. The tour guide informed us that the facility purpose is to modify equipment in order for people with certain physical limitation to enjoy the sport comfortably. He informed us that the players do not participate because they have to, but because they love the sport in and of itself. From hearing everything the tour guide was telling the class, I feel the inner pride in him. I realized that he truly loves his job because of the fulfilment he helps the clients achieve, for example gaining friends they can call family and building their confidence.

Successful diagnosis relies on a good differential diagnosis and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), the gold standard for visualizing a disc herniation. Once diagnosed, there are many treatment options, which range from conservative care to invasive surgery. Rehabilitative therapy can be an effective and safe way to manage a TDH. Surgery can also be effective, but there are serious complications and risks associated. Considering patients with
I am Juan Hernandez, a junior that attends both Avon Grove High School and Technical College High School: Pennocks Bridge in their Health Occupations program. My beloved parents did not go to college nor graduated from high school, therefore they cannot help me with my homework. They most definitely do not understand what it is like to be a highschool student in the United States. Yet, my parents are the smartest people I have ever met. When people ask me, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”, little do they expect me to answer with, “I want to become an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon.” My future life goals end with myself becoming a licensed surgeon in multiple countries, helping the disadvantaged, as well
