I am in Quiz Bowl which has allowed me to learn new information and connect with other kids from different schools. Pep Club is another great opportunity. We decorate for the homecoming dance and plan activities and dress-up days. We collect pennies, nickels, and quarters and donated the money raised to the local food pantry to help with their expenses. This year I am currently serving as a student council member. We help set up Winter Carnival games, pick out dress-up days for homecoming, and help seat people at graduation. Last spring, I was inducted into our school’s NHS chapter. Being in NHS allows me the opportunity to assist our local Lions Club with community service projects. These community service projects allow me to be involved and give back to the community. I have been recently voted to be a student representative of the school board. I am excited to learn how the board makes decisions for our staff and students. I also get to participate in discussion and share my opinion on current issues we are dealing with. A new activity that I just started in September is Battle of the
reading teacher, I have volunteered many times helping children with their homework after school at the
As a freshman in high school I got interested to get involved in the city as a youth commissioner. Being a youth commissioner gives you the chance to get some hours and help out with special occasions in the city. I put in a total of six hundred hours for three years. When I was finally old enough, I got hired for my first job in the city as a camp recreation leader for a summer camp. Now I only work at a fast food Mexican
During my Junior year at Colfax High School, I was recruited into a new program called Link Crew which is a freshman transition program that welcomes incoming freshmen and makes them feel comfortable and supported throughout the first year of high school. This program was not only a club but also a class called Wings in which we would precisely plan Academic Follow Up's (AFU) for the freshmen, and organize events such as a Haunted House and a Blood Drive for the whole school. Also during my Junior year, I joined the Leo's Club which is a student run club that's purpose is to perform service projects within our school and community. I was able to become a certified volunteer of Colfax and Meadow Vista once I had not only met, but exceeded the minimum of 35 hours of volunteer work. Outside of school, I became interested in snowboarding which allowed me to get a seasonal job at a Ski
Students are nominated by their teachers and guidance counselors, and are judged on their intellectual engagement, creativity, and commitment to community. I was presented this award at the annual academic awards.
Outside of school, I am an active member and participant of the Central Savannah River Area's National Society of Black Engineers where I serve as Secretary, Goodwill Youth Board where I hold office as Vice-President, Red Cross Youth Board, Augusta Mini Theater Community Arts and Life Skills School where I hold a position on the Board of Directors as Student Body Representative, Delta GEMS, Rosa T. Beard Debutante Club, and Boys and Girls Club of
My experience working at Cutler Bay Middle School through a nonprofit AmeriCorps program called City Year, makes me a good fit for this position. During my year of service, I help run tutoring in the morning, I did behavioral mentoring to a set of 8 students during lunch and ran an after school club. In the classroom, I did specialized interventions for sixth, seventh and eighth grade students in ESOL classes. I also helped run two successful events at Cutler Bay Middle school one was a literacy and math event and the other was a talent show. Please see the attached document for a copy of my resume and I look forward to speaking with you regarding my
Also enjoy working in a partnership with my families. I provide children a diverse and developmentally appropriate environment that allows them to meet their individual needs. In my program I help families achieve their goals. For instance, if a parent tells me that they want to take English classes but don’t know how to enroll. I find resources for them in the community and help them to accomplish their goals by providing the information. In the past I had a parent who wanted to further her education but did not know what to do. I provided her with information regarding enrollment, fafsa, and made her an appointment for an assessment. I informed her that the library has computers she can use in order to complete her application.
Though I haven’t had the most involvement in extracurricular activities, I have been trying to turn that around. I joined FCCLA at the start of freshman year. FCCLA was an excellent experience to improve my leadership skills, as well as getting engaged with the school and community. This ranged from helping out with school activities, to collecting and organizing books to be donated to children, and crafting dog beds to donate to the Cedar Valley Humane Society. I ended up not resigning up for FCCLA the following year due to my dealing with a difficult death in my family. However, since then I have gotten stronger and want to expand my community involvement. For that reason, I joined Student Council after the end of my junior year. As a representative, I help in school activities and decision-making. Though I’m a newer member, I’m excited to be a part of the Student Council. I have also recently joined the Science National Honor Society. I was able to join this club because of my accomplishments in science. I doubled up biology and chemistry my sophomore year, challenged myself by taking AP Chemistry my junior year, and am currently enrolled in the Pharmacology Technician program at Kirkwood as a senior. I am eager to see guest speakers and have already signed up for a couple of community service activities in this
I am picking up when Mai Thi Hiep (Heidi) is visiting her biological family in Vietnam and her siblings are talking telling her she needs to send money to help support her mother. At this point I feel Heidi is experiencing the dissonance stage, stage 2 of the (R/CID) model. She is attempting to find herself by returning to her homeland she has forgotten so much about. Since Heidi has been raised in the United States since the age of 7 and raised as a white child and told to never tell anyone she was Vietnamese she holds these values. Therefore I feel she is also experiencing Helms Disintegration stage by experiencing anxiety, guilt and anger (Erford, Hays, Crockett and Miller 2011). The anxiety Heidi is experiencing while her siblings are
I have been a member of Girl Scouts for eleven years. October 2014 I was nominated to represent the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia as a delegate in the national convention in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am currently working to achieve my Gold Award, dealing with literacy among elementary school students, which I should complete by the end of this year. I also volunteer at the Columbia County Library every Monday. Though I worked backstage in my school’s drama production, I have also been on the stage for many productions including Peter Pan, the Jungle Book, Dear Santa, and numerous church Christmas plays. I am also very involved in my church. I have been an alter server for seven years and I am part of Life Teen and Word Wide
Incorporating the business, is a good idea in theory for Lori given the associated mechanisms available to raise capital, as in - selling of shares and issuing of bonds. However, in the case of Lori’s business, smart investors may not be inclined to commit funding to a failing cosmetic business. Nonetheless, since this DQ largely concerns advising Lori on how to acquire the funds required in order obtain the special blow-set machine use in the business – it is pertinent to inform Lori about the related cost to incorporate her business. Ward (2016), conveyed that in terms of provincial incorporation, the related charges vary from province to province. For instance, in Ontario the cost to incorporate a business is approximately CAD360.00
(c) child welfare - Previously as a Volunteer Guardian ad Litem, I served as a legal court-appointed Special Advocate on behalf of foster children in cases of child neglect. My duties included, but were not limited to working with a team of caseworkers and investigators conducting research and analysis to advocate for case participants needs.
