Obituaries Carmen Miranda: Carmen Miranda’s real name was Maria do Carmo Miranda da Cunha, and she was born on February 9, 1909, in the town of Marco de Canavezes, Portugal. However, a little after she was born, her family moved to Brazil. Carmen Miranda was an actress and a singer. Her career started when she finished school, and got a job, where she first started singing, and later she got a job at a local radio station. Later on, she got a contract with RCA, and by the 1928 she was a superstar in Brazil. Although, she was a great singer, she also started acting in Brazil, and had some film. However, later on she moved to New York City, and was in some musical on Broadway. Her final performance was “Scared Stiff”. Carmen Miranda died on August 5, 1955 in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California, by a heart attack, at the age of 46 years old. The day before she died, she had attended a party. Orwell’s father was a servant in India, where he spent his first days, but later his mother brought him and his sister to England. He developed a passion for writing since he was a little kid, and his first publish poem was at the age of eleven, in the local newspaper, and he was sent to a boarding school. When he finished his school, his parents didn’t have money, therefore he joined the India Imperial Police Force in 1922. Orwell fought in the Spanish Civil War in December 1936, where we got injured. He got married in June 1936, with Eileen O’Shaughnessy, and later in 1944 they adopted a son. They named their son Richard Horatio Blair, however, he was then raised by Orwell’s sister, after Eileen’s death in 1945. Orwell’s first major worked was about the life of poor people working.
