I believe I should be considered to be an applicant for the
Career shadowing class because I completed the prerequisites, maintained good grades in all of my classes, and try my best in everything that I do. Career shadowing would enable me to learn about the medical field in a way I never have before, it would allow me to gain extra insight into the medial setting and allow me to confidently work towards a career in medicine.
I want to enroll in career shadowing because I think the experience of clinical rotations will help me set a definite goal for my future. I know that I generally want to be in the surgery room, but I'm not entirely set on one career. At this point in my life, I would like to become an anesthesiologist because I like to concentrate on one thing and I would like to be in the surgery room, but my hands are too shaky to be a surgeon. I would like to attend Texas A&M University and major in biochemistry and minor in pre med, so that I could get into a medical school.
Last semester my grades were

I understood medical terminology very well, so I made a 100 overall for the first semester. I finished my temple college dual credit English class with a 95 and my dual credit United States history class with an 80. Though I struggled at the end of the first semester of pre-cal, I was able to end the first semester of it with an 88 due to the amount of time I spent out of class practicing the concepts we learning in class; I had the same struggles with physics throughout the entire semester, but ended with an 81 and stayed in the class this semester in hopes of understanding it more this time around. I also finished Bel Canto, choir, with a 100 because I followed directions and paid attention to the goal of sweepstakes at UIL. Overall, I'm proud of the grades I achieved during the first semester of all of my classes and hope to keep that up during the second
In five years, I see myself in medical school. I want to become an anesthesiologist.
Shadowing physicians with drastically different doctoring styles and personalities helped me understand more than just the daily workload but also which doctoring style I prefer. I also learned that physicians need to work as a team with other physicians, nurses, medical staff and patients. I glimpsed at their busy schedules and found that physicians worked in the wards and in the clinic, took on-call duties every other weekend, filed their own billing and charting, covered each other, while still making time for their families. Being exposed to this has helped solidify my aspirations to one day become an effective and balanced physician. I aspire to be a physician who remembers the details, takes time to discuss treatment, and has a broad
On July 28, 2017, I went to South Pointe Cleveland clinic hospital to do my shadowing experience. I shadowed a registered nurse in PCCU (Progressive Cardiac Care Unit), on the fifth floor in the patient’s hall. While in there I got a chance to see the actual duties and responsibilities of a nurse. A typical work day of a registered nurse in PCCU is sharing information and report about the patient from the previous nurse who is in charged with the patient, monitor patient’s health status, give them medication, chart the patient’s assessment, etc. having a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and CPR certified is required to be qualified to be able to do this career.
The career that I have chosen and have currently been accepted into the program would be a Medical Assistant. In addition, for me reaching my goal I still have a long way to go, but I plan on accomplishing my dream of becoming a medical assistant. I will have one more semester that will include classes such as, Math, English 114, as well as other prerequisite classes that I must finish before I can take any official medical classes. After accomplishing those prerequisite classes I can then take my medical classes, however they must be taken in sequence throughout the semester and I must do well in all of them to remain in the program. Furthermore, for me to become a medical assistant at my college you must attend a 2-year program that leads
If I was guaranteed a seat in medical school and had a year off I would continue my career at Verdier Eye Center and further my knowledge in ophthalmology. Working for Dr. Verdier has had a huge impact on me as he would often pay for medications for patients who could not afford them without hesitation. His work ethic has been an example to me of what it takes to be an excellent doctor as he often skips lunch and stays late to attend to all his patients. I have learned a huge amount about information as he would always apply academics to his work through discussing the anatomy of the eye as well as leading research projects that I would hope to be apart of. Additionally, I would full time volunteer coach at Cleveland United. Coaching has taught
Thinking back to what made me consider the medical field, I don’t remember considering any other field. Before I could even understand what physicians actually did, I knew that they had a major impact on a person’s life. It is obvious that doctors save life everyday, but the way they save lives was always interesting to me.Beyond all the medicine and surgery, a physician takes the time to guide and support every patient. Being a physician is not purely ingrained in science, nor is it purely ingrained in humanism. It was the unique combination of both that drew me to consider being a physician.
I really enjoy helping other people and/or animals. Knowing how the body works is interesting because you have to be careful in everything that you do and you always have to be focused in your work. After High School I plan on attending Junior College at Delta College in Stockton, California for at least two years. Being present in a Junior College will help be get ready for the next step of becoming better in school and in the medical field by allowing me to have more experience out in the field. After my two years at Delta College I hope to attend a four year U.C. by receiving a scholarship for either my academics in school or for my athletic potential.
I have made some progress towards spring, summer, and fall courses. I currently have A’s in all my spring
In the future I would like to become an Anesthesiologist because I like to help people. This is my goal because I have always been interested in helping others and would like to do that on a personal level. Also I would like to get a job to be able to support myself. I would also like to become an Anesthesiologist because I work best when I have specific tasks to focus on. Furthermore, I am reliable because I do not like to put things off till the last minute. This would be a good fit for me because I am a great leader, have the discipline to get work done on time, and work well with a group of people.
In the future, I hope to pursue neurosurgery because I want to work in a very significant field that many people do not pursue. This is because in the future, I plan on going to other countries and performing free surgery on people who cannot afford it. Before becoming a surgeon, I would like to become a general doctor and continue my plan of going to other countries to diagnose and treat people who cannot otherwise afford it.
Everything that we have achieved in life is dreams that we have made into a reality. Our dreams are powerful and bursting with potential, altering our future at any moment. Without our dreams, there would be nothing to work towards, nothing to keep us going. My dream is to surround myself with sports, working with others who share the same passion as me. I want to be a Sports Marketer.
In the near future, I plan on becoming a pediatrician. When I was little I always wanted to become some sort of doctor, and parents said that even when I was little I would cry for other people. As I was growing up it was in my mind that I want to become some sort of doctor but I didn’t really know what kind of doctor. Since I was a kid back then, I thought why not become a kids’ doctor. From that decision, I mainly focused on becoming a pediatrician when I grow up. Since I like helping children become better and live a youth worry free of any illness or problems and according to the, Virtual Pediatric Hospital this a job for me.
My goals for the next ten years, would be to get accepted to medical school and to graduate from medical school. Specifically, my top three medical schools that I would love to go to would be Oklahoma University Medical School, University of Colorado School of Medicine, and Oklahoma State Center for Health Sciences. To be honest though my top three are the places I would absolutely love to go to, I would gladly take a medical school that would accept me. Currently my plans for a specialty in medical school is endocrinology or immunology, I love the way that the body interacts with itself and how it is able to get confused and attack itself is probably my main interest in the specialty. My goals after I graduate medical school are, working in a hospital somewhere in Oklahoma, preferably in Oklahoma City or Tulsa, and work there as a resident for a time until I would be able to open up my own private practice or join a private practice and continue my health career from there. One of the things that has become increasingly interesting with me is Doctors Without Borders, which may end up being something that I would participate in after medical school during my residency or around the time that I would join a private practice.
When I was researching career options, I knew that I wanted something in the medical
Overall I can say that my grades were never terrible. My freshman year was probably the worst year. I received my first F ever, due to a lack of respect towards my English teacher and failure to turn in any work. I ended up going to summer school and received a B in the class. I also had to retake geometry my sophomore year because I received a D, so I was taking both Algebra 2 and Integrated Math 2, which was basically geometry. Taking two math classes at the same time is not easy, but I’m pleased to say I maintained a C or higher in both classes. Since the beginning of high school I’ve always set myself up for a challenge and took some difficult science classes that include biology, chemistry, health occupations, and the
