Throughout my experience with cancer I have gained a little more knowledge than I had before I was diagnosed with this nasty disease. This paper gives me the chance to explain some of the causes and effects that cancer has on those afflicted with the disease and those who are constantly around them. I am glad to be the one writing this paper. I believe that if people read more papers like this one that there would not be as much tormenting or misunderstanding of what people with cancer actually have to go through. Some of the effects that cancer has are not only on the patient, but also on the family and friends that are near and far. There are so many causes and effects for the many types of cancer I can only touch trying to be able to explain them. So I am going to explain what I know about lung, brain, and breast cancer to the best of my ability because most people do not know much about cancer since most have not had the personal experience. Although not all cancers have an exact cause but some of them do. According to the people I have known with lung cancer there are many causes to the diagnosis. A few of the causes include smoking, second hand smoke, and asbestos. Asbestos is also the cause of another cancer is caused mesothelioma. On the other hand not all lung cancer is caused by these things. Some are simply caused by inheriting gene mutations and are unpreventable. Effects of lung cancer are not good but not everyone experiences the same effects. Some people
Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales and Margaret Atwood’s Handmaid’s Tale are similar in the way that their tales are each addressed to various audiences and the significance of the tales to each of these audiences is shaped by the conditions under which they receive the tale. In a broader sense, the various audiences can be classified into one of two categories. The first of these we will call the immediate audience and it consists of the fictional audience that lives within the same space and time as the storyteller. The second category we will call the audience at large and it includes the contemporary audience of the authors as well as the modern day readers. Each set of work has three types of audience that falls into one of these categories. Dynamically, the three audiences are structured in such a way that they appear to be layered. This layering allows for one group of audience to sometimes shape and/or challenge the expectations of another audience. The complexity of how the role of the audience is explored by both The Canterbury Tales and The Handmaid’s Tale is what allows for the meaning of each tale to expand beyond the narrative.

Lung Cancer, like any other type of cancer, is the uncontrollable growth of cells in the lung tissue. The main causes that contribute to lung cancer include inhaling carcinogens (basically, smoking), exposure to ionizing radiation, viral infections and even air pollution. These factors basically damage the tissues lining the bronchi in the lung, leading the cancer to develop further (Vaporciyan & Nesbitt JC, 2000). Primary lung cancers that develop in the epithelial tissues of the lung are known as carcinomas and claim the top spot in terms of leading cancer-related death causes. As of 2004, lung cancer

Cancer has one of the biggest effects on the patients mental health but also the patients loved ones and friends. It is one of the hardest things to get a grip on when the doctor tells someone that they have cancer and a fifty-fifty chance of making it. "The disease can bring many changes-in what people do and how they look, in how they feel and what they value" (Dakota 4). It makes people look at the world and their lives in a different way, valuing now what they took for granted and seeing the bigger picture in every scenario. It is something that no one can actually brace, even after the doctor tells them. Through it all though, the person must remain strong and optimistic because the cancer can affect the person's moods and in return affect the outcome of the person and the chances of their making it
In women, one of the most common cancers of course is breast cancer, in men prostate cancer and in men and women, lung cancer and colon cancer are common cancers. It is important to understand that the cancer that occurs in one individual is very different from the cancer that occurs in another. Everyone is different; a lung tumor in one person will be different from a lung tumor in another person. Once a diagnosis of cancer is made, the next obvious question is what do you do? There are several things that are really relevant, for example, the stage of the cancer which is information about where is the cancer?
Lung cancer takes the lives of many at a young age and the cause isn’t always clear as of how this disease was contracted. The most popular idea of what causes lung cancer since early times has been using tobacco. Tobacco contains nicotine which is a highly addictive drug that gives a temporary feeling of relaxation. When people get addicted to nicotine, it becomes incredibly difficult for the victims to stop smoking. According to Brody, Lung cancer has been shown to take the lives of more people compared to any other form of cancer and this is the case since lung cancer is associated with life style. New information regarding lung cancer has shown that about one-fourth of those victims who are diagnosed didn’t obtain it through first hand smoking. People can obtain this illness through an “unlucky” combination of genetics (Brody).
“Cancer affects all of us, whether you’re a daughter, mother, sister, friend, coworker, doctor, or patient” (Aniston). Cancer is a very serious issue that needs to be dealt with in each patient. To understand the history one has to know the causes, effects, problems, and solutions of cancer.
