In the article "Can Students Have Too Much Tech?" Susan Pinker explains the pros and cons of technology in the classroom. Her argument is supplemented by Studies from Duke University and Stanford University. She also utilized the history of the One Laptop per child nonprofit, along with her own research and opinions.

Pinker uses the studies from Duke and a Stanford Professor's opinion to support her argument with evidence that can't be denied. The study from Duke suggests a negative trend in student's Math and Reading scores that hits especially hard from the 5th to 8th grade. In my experience from the 5th to 8th grade I used my family's computer to play runescape and write emails to my extended relatives. Pinker supplements her theory with a similar opinion from a Standford Professor. The Professor comes to the conclusion of an initial surge in engagement in studies with a sharp decline after little time. This program had a significant amount of initial hype that quickly died off. The program aimed to give $400 Laptops to kids, but with the laptops having major flaws the programing and hardware lead to bad experiences with the new computers. Pinker goes to say that laptops became a way to avoid work by chatting online and playing video games. I think that trying to give every child access to the internet is a good theory but has issues with execution.
