The article I chose is about kids buying E-Cigarettes and them being dangerous for our health. It states that its most used tobacco product along with hookahs, snuff, etc. People get addicted to them and they have harmful chemicals in them that can also affect your health. People using vapes used to be rare a few years ago but now it’s one of the most popular things.
Nicotine is a highly addictive drug at any age, which is very unhealthy for you and can cause major downfalls in the future. Even second smoke from the vapes are harmful because of the chemicals. In “Warning: Vaping Teens Becoming a New Generation of Nicotine Addicts” an author from USAToday.com describes the new way teenagres are becoming hooked to nicotie. First, vaping is bad for the body and one's health. Vaping is the heating of a liquid, or “juice," until it becomes a vapor that is then inhaled. Since vaping has only been around in recent years, there are not many studies about them yet, but what researchers have seen so far does not look good for the future. Researchers say, “And then there's the nicotine. This is the component in cigarettes that smokers get hooked on. Research shows that nicotine may be as addictive as heroin or cocaine” (Lombardi). Many people “stop smoking" with the use of a vape. Little do they know, some of the same components found in cigarettes are also found in a vape. Nicotine, found in both vapes and cigarettes, is proven to be extremely addictive. Research shows that it could be as addictive as cocaine or heroin. For years, researchers have studied the horrendous outcome of nicotine effects on the body.
While e-cigarettes contain fewer toxic chemicals, findings suggest that potential potential increase in harmful cigarette use may follow.
Originally manufactured in China in 2003, electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) were manufactured as a better way of inhaling nicotine without the health effects of smoking tobacco. They were developed to provide the tobacco user with a device that would heat up liquid nicotine and other chemicals including carcinogens that once heated would create a vapor in which the user would inhale. Unlike cigarettes, nothing is burned, and there is no smoke released from the device. E-cigarettes are marketed to the consumer as a better way of quitting smoking or just sustaining the craving of tobacco by allowing the smoker the pleasure of nicotine in reduced amounts. Currently, the FDA Center for Tobacco Products regulates cigarettes, tobacco, and smokeless tobacco and only e-cigarettes that are marketed to the consumer for therapeutic purposes are regulated by the FDA Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.
Everyone always wants to be with the latest trend, and as many celebrities and magazine ads have pictures of vaping, electronic cigarettes have become a "trend”. People are largely unaware of the emergency risks of vaping. According to a study by Mitch Zeller he states, “I can say definitely, that nicotine is harmful to a developing teenage brain. And no teenager, no young person. should be using any tobacco or nicotine-containing products”. Unlike true cigarettes, electronic cigarettes do not have
A shocking stastics states that 1 out of 3 smokers will die from a smoke related diesease,
The new SG could help the vaping industry by writing a new neutral report. In the new SG report, where the harmful effects of nicotine are mentioned, the benefits of e-cigarettes should not be omitted. Besides, health bodies like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, have in the past noted that with the increase in the e-cigarettes take up, the consumption of tobacco has drastically gone down. So, where the reports indicates a 4.7% rise in the number of middle school students that have tried e-cigs, it should acknowledge that within the same time span, the number of middle schoolers who used combustible tobacco cigarettes reduced by about 2%. In addition, the number of high school students using tobacco cigarettes reduced by over 6%. With these facts included, it is the only way that the SG report can be considered as factual.

Vapes and E-cigarettes were originally founded in order to help cigarette users quit smoking. However, this has recently changed. Teenagers have easy access to vapors and are convinced that nothing harmful should come out
There are a few different way’s E-cigarettes have been marketed. You can find them almost anywhere you go. Store’s, gas stations, online, etc. The most popular place to buy these products would be online. You would think that when you purchase this online you would have to have some sort of proof stating your age. But you don’t. Online you don’t have to show ID and therefore, it is much easier for people to buy this product. Another way to buy one is to go to a smoke shop. There they have all different kinds of vape’s. This is another popular place, but here they do check ID which makes it harder for people to purchase. According to, Nation in Brief “E-cigarettes were the most commonly used tobacco product among middle and high school students
Although Esther seems normal on the outside, she is trapped in the bell jar of society. It is important to realize that a bell jar is a bell-shaped glass cover used to preserve delicate objects. The bell jar that encloses around Esther is society’s ideals of a young woman. She was raised in a household where women are to live to expectations of a career based on gender, prospects of marriage, and life duties. Esther is trapped within these expectations of a distorted glass wall. The deformed walls of the metaphorical bell jar twist Esther’s perception of reality. Furthermore, Esther is the delicate object trapped in an environment that is isolated from the rest of the world.
One of my first memories in the United States was taking a Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E) class. I was in sixth grade and a top student, as talking about drugs and alcohol and the way they affect us was fascinating to me. This is why, the following year, I volunteered to become a peer educator in Teens Against Tobacco Use (T.A.T.U). For a couple of years, I gave presentations to young students which included facts, demonstrations, and games, to spread the knowledge that tobacco is harmful and that staying away from smoking prolongs life expectancy and increases the quality of life. It should come as no surprise, then, that I consider myself a big proponent of staying tobacco-free and encouraging others to quit smoking as a great way to promote health. I remember watching my mom and sister as they took part in their nightly ritual of smoking a few cigarettes to unwind. “Did you know that a main component of cigarettes is used as rocket fuel?” I would ask them, as I opened the window and they stared back at me blankly. “We know, we know” was the answer every time. I knew that convincing them to quit was no easy task, but I was committed. Day after day, I proudly stated a new fact about the evils of smoking. Finally one day, they quit. At first, they attributed it to the cost. Since we had just immigrated to the United States, the cost of cigarettes was simply not something they could afford. I didn’t believe it. I proudly
In the United States, the usage of cigarettes is slowly declining, making way for alternative forms of tobacco and nicotine sources to become popular. In the past decade, one of these cigarette alternatives has become very popular, even widely among teens, and it’s referred to as “vaping”. Vaping is the use of electronic cigarettes that replace burning paper and tobacco with flavored steam, which usually has nicotine in it (Kriegel). Since vaping hasn’t been around very long and hasn’t become popular until recently, not much is known about the effects or how harmful it could be long term. One source says, “There's also a widespread belief that e-cigarettes are safe, or at least safer than conventional tobacco products. But several studies have suggested this may not be the case,” (Fox). Although there is a very strong debate on whether e-cigarettes are a safe alternative for cigarettes, there are too many risk factors involved due to conflicting information and studies, for vaping to be deemed safe.
There is a lot of debate whether vaping teens are becoming a major problem. The article “Warning: Vaping Teens Becoming a New Generation of Nicotine Addicts” by USAtoday.com address how vaping the becoming the new cigarettes for teens. E-cigarettes may seem like they aren’t harmful because they don’t have cancer producing tobacco. However, they still have nicotine and other harmful toxins according to the article. Vaping teens are becoming a big problem in our generation. Nowadays, teens vape to seem “cool” or simply because of peer pressure. Schools in bigger areas have a bigger problem with vaping teens because it is easier for them to get the e-cigarettes than here. Consequently, schools will find more students who are addicted even though
I decided on The Marine Corps and being a Firefighter as my two careers because I’m really passionate about both of them. Most of my family has been in the military. Since I was a kid I have always wanted to join the Marine Corps. I also really like Firefighters because just like the marines they risk their lives almost every day and i have much respect for everyone that serves to help others in the line of duty. No one really inspired me going into any of these career paths except for my family because they try to push me to my full potential. I feel like these careers can push me to have higher and better goals then what i have now. Although becoming a Firefighter would be amazing I feel that joining the military would be more satisfying as a career path.
