Bullying and suicide have a very strong relation, 38% of frequent bullying victims reported suicidal thoughts or suicide attempt in the past year. Students who are engaged in bullying behavior and victims of bullying are the highest risk group for adverse outcomes (“Bullying, Cyberbullying & Suicide Statistics”). Bullying is the act of abusing someone else physically or mentally in order to gain a sense of superiority and power. The term “bully” can be traced back as far as the 1530s. Bullying may come about in young people because of the constant pressure of striving for intellectual advances. U.S society believes success and wealth go hand in hand. As they filmed the documentary they noticed that the students were so used to the idea that many administrator would resists to acknowledge the fact of bullying, they were not afraid to bully in front of the camera. Some students, such as Ja’meya, were bullied on the bus ride to and from school, the bus drivers should take action to prevent these types of incidents from occurring. A student at Sioux City school district, in Iowa, suicide at the age of 17 because of the many times he got bullied. It has been reported by many students that Tyler would get bullied right in front of teachers and administrators. When Tina, his mother, brought this to the schools attention the school simply responded by saying “Oh, they didn’t mean it, boys will be boys “or “he just took it the wrong way” (Bieze). An athlete named Kelby was bullied in school because of her sexual preference. She was not just bullied by classmates but teachers as well. Schools need to enforce and punish such behavior to prevent it from happening again. Reagan, from Bardstown, Kentucky, suicide after being threatened at a basketball game that night. Her parents are now asking for change in bullying laws
